Here's a quick review of my ten minute experience of grabbing a burger on a Saturday afternoon: I was walking down holly street mid-day, and realized how hungry I was as I approached The Cabin-- a place I'd been to once on a night out with coworkers. I remember the cheap burger and thought how quick it would be too. So I walked in, ordered at the bar, then went and sat at a table by the window while I waited. There were only two-four people besides me inside at the time. I think one woman was there, but definitely 2-3 men in their 50-70s were sitting together at the bar chatting. I was minding my business, until I overheard from these men, something along the lines of, "Cherry popping daddy." *laughter* "Can't do that anymore... illegal... go to jail..." *laughter* Bartender joins in: "Unless you're a a billionaire..." *laughter* Something was then said about "13 year old girls" that was unclear. I was baffled and disgusted and UNCOMFORTABLE. You'll never draw in good business with these kinds of customers, especially if you're entertaining them, rather than the ones that just need to come in for a quick bite or sip by themselves. ESPECIALLY young women. I felt like prey in there, and was only inside for less than 10 minutes. That experience made me so uncomfortable I shoved my food down my face and ran out the door saying "The fuck?" Don't go here. read more

All the negative reviews on here are accurate. These guys are rude and unprofessional to the max. I did not enjoy my experience here at all and the burger was greasy and gross. The whole place seemed unsanitary and was very "Bellingham" which isn't necessarily a good thing. I get you guys are going for a whole vibe here but why not hire bartenders that actually know what they're doing? read more

Cute bar, but the real gem is the cheeseburger (more of a smashburger)! I heard some staff went to Seattle, tasted a bunch of burgers and based their cheeseburger loosely off of Dicks hamburgers. Had been there for about an hour & a half drinking & eating burgers as one does, ordered another burger before we left to go to another bar. As I was leaving & was already up the street from The Cabin, the cook decided they were going to come out and full on shove me, not push, full on extend & shove me & start yelling at me because I had "taken someone else's food." I went there with my friends to hang out and have a good time, which we did, but because me and my friends are nice guys who like to hang out and have a good time and be friends with everybody. But the staff was straight up mean, I spent 2-3 years in the service industry and have not written a yelp review in years if ever but man, I mean come on. Visiting Bellingham from Colorado and stumbled into the Cabin while we were wandering around on a Thursday eve. What a Delight! We snagged seats at the bar and quickly were impressed by this "one man show". The bartender was working solo behind the bar and things were moving and shaking. Despite there being a line of people waiting to order drinks at the "order here" sign... he balanced the line with the patrons at the bar well. We ordered two Lush IPAs- had never had Lush on tap before and it did not disappoint. Walking in we were greeted with the smell of greasy burgers (like your favorite diner) so ordered a Cabin Burger and fries. You don't want to miss out on their food. This burger was everything we imagined- smash burger cooked perfectly- so juicy with caramelized onions, cheese and bacon. Holy YUM. The fries were just as delicious. If we lived in Bellingham we'd be regulars at this place. Props to Zach running the grill and Pascal behind the bar. These two were working their magic and keeping the crowds happy. We absolutely loved this place and next time we are in Washington, we will definitely be making the trek to stop by the Cabin. Don't miss this gem of a bar! read more

I was here tonight and bought 2 burgers and a beer. It was a busy night and I drank my beer in the back and waited for my food by the fryer. I went outside to the front and my stuff was gone (I had a beer in my bag unrelated and didn't drink it on the premises) someone I ran into said she'd watch my stuff while I wait for my food. I come back out to her holding my things and saying she got kicked out. She didn't know she wasn't allowed to have an open beer and I wasn't with her. She was just holding my things because she knew me. We didn't come together. I was cussed out and told "get the fuck out of here I don't want to see your asses here again" I didn't do anything I work everyday and wanted some food honestly. I spent $25 on food I can't afford. Yeah the person I was with didn't know the law but I didn't deserve to get cussed out and told I don't get any food THAT I PAID FOR and it wasn't even my fault. Super rude and I'm sorry that you're stressed with your night but I wanted my food and that wasn't me bro. read more

I have always loved this place, but recently, I went there and ordered a cheeseburger and WOW. It was everything I could want from a bar burger. Salty, greasy, delicious, and incredibly fast service. It comes in a BAG. Literally the best way to deliver a burger in a bar. The genius that came up with this deserves a national holiday. I'm not exaggerating. I can't wait to try their fries. Oh! The service has gotten way worse over the years. On a slow night or a busy one, my experience with the bartenders has been pretty unpleasant. Usually the kind of interaction where you leave feeling like you were irritating them for ordering a drink. Very brief and curt. Music is sometimes deafening but I get why on a busy weekend night that may be the vibe. Food is still delicious but has changed to burgers. read more

Thanks for publicly yelling at me when I tried to present my picture id with my renewal paperwork. Didn't even let me get a word out, immediately got aggressive with me and raised their voices. Aggressively cornered me between another bar patron, and the bar which made it impossible to walk away. 30 years old and a bartender, being absolutely ridiculed by the owner and his bartender. Accused me of having a fake ID. Wouldn't even look at my ID or paper. The best part is the owners wife and other bartenders there accepted it in the past month. I was Hangry after dinner plans were messed up because the place I was going wasn't open when the website said it was so I stumbled around downtown trying to find a good spot and landed at the cabin. I just had an excellent time ago small but with meat and flavor I would highly recommend a trip here for a casual hang out some tacos inland beer. Went to the cabin with a couple of friends, I went to tip $5 on a $20 order and accidentally tipped $500, I mentioned the mistake right away and the bartender told me there was nothing he could do, kept walking away and told me to get out of line. Luckily another person sitting at the bar also stood up for me and started to instruct the bartender how to do a refund. I got my money back, but not without a fight. read more

I don't take stars lightly, 5 for me equates truly to the best of the best, and The Cabin is that for me. Now my personality is one of various degrees of specific to why I frequent different bars. First off, ambiance. I like dive bars. I like Wisconsin bars, the ones you walk into and the wood paneling is a blatant reminder of the back-woods environment familiar to those from small towns or rural areas. I'm not a hunter, but I'm okay with deer antlers and faux fur decor. The Cabin encompasses this feeling, you walk into a bar and the bartenders aren't there to make small talk or smile, they are there to ensure you get your cold Hamm's (on tap!) or margarita special ($7 on Thursdays). The jukebox holds limited songs, and yes, there are a few songs the bartenders request you consider not playing because they have been played on repeat. But why would you? The music is usually on point and eclectic. Fancy a night with some DJ spinning retro vinyl? They have that too. Now let's talk about Taco Thursday. No it's not Tuesday, you didn't read that wrong. On Thursdays The Cabin boasts their "boot margaritas" at $7. Boots are not the gigantic version from our college years, instead a classy hand held version. As of earlier this year, margaritas are made with the authentic orange liqueur brought from Mexico, and some bottom shelf (but not terrible) tequila. A splash of simple and lime finishes off the beast. Pair that up with tacos from Taqueria Los Santos, the most authentic street tacos in likely a 65 mile radius... and you're set for good vibes and a full stomach. I come here a lot... so 5 stars for being my favorite bar in Bellingham. read more

So I was out wandering toward water and sunset and then found this... The Cabin is fabulous! Christian, bartender/owner is fabulous! Everything here is really cool. I wanted something kinda different--a Manhattan wannabe maybe. Christian worked with my tastes of the moment and spent some time doing some research and then suggested a Brooklyn. Oh, my! Look it up! It was great. And then I wanted a gin something, but wanted to see what he had for the main attraction. He did a full gin showing of his wares: we chose the Empress, based on my tastes and dress color of the day. All purple-y! It was grand, of course! I love his cabin-y accouterments all over the damn place, especially his overhead forest replete with (I think!) bears, wombats, lighted trees, whatever else, I do not know! Great music! Love that it is dark and cozy and filled with wonderful weirdness--and kindness too. Great night, great experience, great place. read more

I've lived in Bham for 18 years and I only just recently visited the Cabin! Long known as the local dive bar, it was one of those places that wasn't even close to being on my radar until recently (when they got a new owner, a remodel, and are now one of Bham's coolest hipster joints). Both times I've been have been on a Thursday, which is taco night - yum! The first time I was too early for the tacos, so I just enjoyed a pint of beer and some of their free (and tasty) bar mix. They have lots of local beers on tap, which is of course required around Bham (and for good reason, 'cuz we are knocking the brewery scene out of the park). The second time I visited was also on a Thursday, and this time I was hungry. Some might say, even hangry. I ordered a refreshing Aslan Dawn Patrol and three tacos (they're $3/ea or 3-for-$8). Oops, the bartender informed me you have to order/pay for you tacos separately from the chef, who is about 5 feet to the right of the bar. So I paid for my beer then headed over to order my tacos. Sadly (but good for business!) he was out of meat; and I wasn't really in the mood for a tofu taco. (Seriously, WHO is ever in the mood for this?!) But I was hungry so I ordered three of them. Oops, the taco guy only takes cash. Ugh. Don't get me started. Don't EVEN get me started. It's 2017. 'Nuff said! The good news is the bar does take cards, so instead of tacos I finished my beer and got one of their ammmmaaazzzing $5 Thursday margaritas, which are served in a classic/vintage glass boot. And I gotta say, I'm pretty sure the ratio of tequila to mixer in this baby was about 8:1 - needless to say I was glad I had a ride home! read more

I really liked this place until yesterday, the big dude with a beard and brown hair is on a complete power trip. I was simply standing in line and making small talk with a person in front of me and he says "do you know the definition of personal space" y'all I was not that close to the other person and if you've ever been in there you know its narrow and it gets crowded and people walk through where the line builds up. There's no number to contact a manager or the owners, I couldn't find one online, and when I asked to speak with a manager I was laughed at. Not to mention the totally rude and uninviting sign out front calling people "twats" which is a misogynistic term. The burger is good but until they fix their service problem it's not worth going there. read more

He will greet you with a rude a comment the second you walk in the door, scowl at you for any asked question and does a grade a job at turning any night into a poor evening with vibes of feeling extremely unwelcome and unsettled. Maybe he is going for a Guinness world record for rudest bartender. Either way if you are going to go to the cabin for a drink, make sure you prepare yourself for what is about to come. Eat local, just not at The Cabin. Tonight I was on a dinner break from work and this being my fifth 12-hour day in a row, I decided to treat myself to my favorite burger at my favorite dive bar in town, The Cabin. I arrived at 6 and the place was not too busy which left me hoping I could get in and out relatively quickly. While I waited for my burger, I sipped on a beer. About 15 minutes into my wait, my coworker texted me to say our client had made us burgers and tater tots for dinner. "Darn!" I texted her. "I'm just waiting on burgers I ordered for us at The Cabin. Thank them anyway." Another 10 minutes passes and I'm lamenting that I'm almost finished with my beer (which I'd hoped to enjoy with my burger), when I hear someone ask the guy at the grill when *her* burger will be ready. He looks at his tix and says, "you're next." I'm now due back at work and figure I've got at least another 10 minutes to wait so I go back to the proprietress behind the bar and ask her if I can have my meal refunded since it's taking a while and I've finished my beer and need to be back at work. Instead of saying yes, she asks my name. I tell her my full name and she goes to the grill at end of bar to look for my ticket. She asks my name again. This time I give her my last name. She comes back to the register and says, there's no ticket for you. I hand her my receipt to prove I paid for two burgers and a beer and she kind of shrugs. I say again "can I get a refund?" She doesn't know how to refund me and says she needs to call someone (she also doesn't know how to accept Apple Pay even though she's told me her POS "supposedly" accepts it.) I wait while she tries to call someone to figure out how to refund me. At this point I'm exasperated and say, "please refund me my (25%) tip while you're at it." She replies in a snotty tone, "I'd never dream of keeping your tip." Finally she grabs cash out of her cash drawer and tosses it on the counter and says she needs to help the people who are waiting behind me. I say, "an apology would be nice." And she just asks me to move aside. I take my money and as I walk out the door, the guy at the grill says in a snarky tone over the PA system for the whole restaurant to hear, "bye-bye Lady." I turn on my heels and go back in and told him angrily that he was messing with the wrong person. He replies, "this isn't fast food" (he's got that right). He asks my name. I tell him and he he says, "your ticket is right here!" I ask him why the owner said it wasn't there and he said, "because she said your name was Ruth (!?!?!). I say, it's not my fault one of you is hard of hearing, and leave again. What's weird about this place is he's just one guy who does one order at a time (they only serve burgers and fries) and the burger is given to you in a paper bag. Paper bag part goes with dive bar theme so whatever, but why only one order at a time? Do they need more help, or an employee who can multitask? Can't figure that one out, but I digress. Ironic postscript: I've been to The Cabin probably 25 times since I moved here 18 months ago spending on average $25 per visit. I love the vibe and art there and all the old time beer signs. Recently, I'd noticed they only had half of a vintage Hamm's sign and offered to keep an eye out for the other half as I work in antiques. I even went home that night and looked online for the sign cuz I could tell they really wanted to find it. Oh well, as they say, no good deed goes unpunished. I guess I'll have to find another dive bar. Also, I'm so tired of dismissive customer service and misogynistic men. read more

What a wonderful Thursday evening at the Cabin. The servers were running flat out. The only way to get a beverage or food is to order at the bar. One of two bar tenders will take your order (be patient). Both of the servers were slammed at 6:45. Those two folks would take orders deliver canned beer or mix a drink for you. They would take your food order and take your cash or credit card. They would then hand you a pager. In a few minutes (less than 25 tonight) your pager lights up and you proceed to the kitchen for your food. The drinks and food are like how I like my women sting and tasty. read more

Covid review: I have been going to taco thursdays almost religiously since it begun. And I can attest that they are so delicious and the atmosphere is great. The service has always been attentive and welcoming. Now that it's covid times, I have to say how grateful I am that this is still going strong. The weekly specials are to die for. Thank you to the owner of The Cabin for holding strong. Gracias a Taqueria los Santos for such delicious food as always. My recommendation is to keep an eye out for when they have birria as their special. These dishes are made con mucho amor. My go to is the mulitas con carne asada. read more

I was so looking forward to going to the Cabin but customer service was terrible. The only saving grace was a well mixed cocktail. We walked in, and there were 2 people sitting at a booth, 2 people sitting outside and one guy at the bar. We stood at the bar and was not even acknowledged until he was done chatting up the guy at the bar while he was taking his time making him a drink. Another couple came in and he started to go towards them but I guess he remembered we were standing 3 feet away from him at the bar. We thought this establishment served food so we asked for a menu and he just looked at us and finally said they had hot dogs. The guy at the bar said maybe he should have a sign and the bartender said no. Well we did get a drink, a Moscow mule and as I said it was very well made. We finished our drinks then went across the street to Bayou on the Bay and had friendly customer service and a wonderful dinner. This is a neat looking place and there should have been a lot of people enjoying themselves here. Customer service costs nothing and yet there was none here.
