I see a lot of negative reviews on here, which make no sense. For any of us who live in or frequent the Northwest, it's obvious this is a clean, well run, above average chain with quality seafood. This location merges great service, with an amazing view of the harbor and fresh seafood, which is becoming tougher to find now-a-days. For anyone looking for a good seafood meal, this is your spot, as long as you aren't afraid to pay for it. Keep in mind, fresh, quality seafood isn't cheap. For those of you complaining about the prices on here, retreat to Red Lobster, where you can get your frozen, tasteless seafood for a few bucks less. Here you're paying for a view, ambiance, flavor, freshness and service, in a restaurant that always looks immaculate. It's a great place for a celebration, date or a nice family dinner. As for what to order, I have my favorites, but we all enjoy different seafood. The planked halibut (blackened) is my go-to dish, along with a Northwest salad or Manhattan chowder (the bowl can be a meal its so big) but any of their fish dishes are ideal. In fact, the chefs here make sure that if it's on the menu, it's coming to your table in perfection or they won't serve it. Haters, go-away, this place is much better than you're giving it credit for. It's an icon for PNW seafood and considering what you're getting it's priced fairly. read more

FOOD: Went there for happy hour only. I got the Wild Silver Salmon Swimmers and Crispy Calamari with Lemon Aioli. The salmon swimmers are basically salmon sliders. It comes in 3 mini sandwiches. The salmon for each slider is about a thumb size. Unfortunately, there were all different sizes. We ordered three for our table and each plate had a different amount of salmon... Some of my slider was a quarter of the mini bun which wasn't much. The calamari was good. It could be a little more crispy but I would order it again and add a bunch of lemon! Each happy hour dish is $6 expect the burger is $5 (which is pretty big). I also tried the Hawaiian Ahi Nachos were pretty tasty and made me regret not ordering it instead of the calamari. SERVICE: Super friendly. Pour our water even when it wasn't half way yet. Food and drinks were brought out in a timely manner. PRESENTATION: Nice restaurant. Big open space. View of the bay and a bunch of boats. LOCATION: Right on the bay with parking lot. It may get full during peak hours. I went around 4-5pm and there were a few spots open. I rarely give 5 stars and expect Anthony's to have high quality. However, on this visit there service was exceptional. Very attentive but not a lot of interruptions. A server was very attentive to my mom's special requests. Lunch was there quality I expect but they went above and beyond in assisting my mom when she needed to use the restroom. My mom is elderly and need assistance and they were very accommodating. I always recommend Anthony's for lunch or dinner, it is fine dining and that's what the prices are. read more

I took my wife to Anthony's for her birthday dinner and made a reservation requesting a window table, which we got. The view of the setting sun was a beautiful setting. We got the clam appetizer, the surf and turf with prawn tempura, and the rhubarb slump for dessert. It was all spot on delicious, and the service was great also. One of the best dining experiences I have had in recent memory. I was a little hesitant to come here after reading some of the 3 star reviews -- but the 5 star reviews seemed to be very positive, I gave Anthony's a shot. The place was booming when we entered -- filled with patrons -- always a good sign. We were seated right near the front window with one of the most beautiful views I have seen anywhere -- right near the boats and the bay -- with a view of the sunset. Anthony's is a special occasion -- you wouldn't go here every day, but more like a very special occasion -- as meals range in the $20 to $40 range. We started with a dozen oysters whose freshness was some of the best I have personally ever had. Amazing. I opted for the cioppino -- something I always order when I go out to a good seafood restaurant. The cioppino came out hot -- full of mussels, clams, fish, etc. My co-worker had halibut and king salmon and said it was absolutely incredible. She barely spoke the whole time she was eating -- she was in another place. Not only was the food top notch, but the service was PERFECT. Our server was a pro -- she really made the evening perfect. If you're in the Pacific NW, this is as good a place as there is to have fresh salmon. Their alder planked salmon is their signature dish, and it was meaty, moist, and delicious. The alder is supposed to be less "woody" on the flavoring than cedar. I've always found the fish here top notch. Not the Anthony's we grew up with. The food was absolutely terrible. I ordered the salmon. First off it was a tiny piece of low grade fish and was very overcooked. it was served with a coleslaw but not traditional coleslaw it had a very out of place flavor that seemed like it was store bought out of a bag. It also came with a huge pile of over cooked cubed potatoes that had a reheated rubbery texture. Everyone at our table did not like their food even the person who order the overpriced burger only ate half and said it was the worst they had ever had. Our server was very nice. But this WAS NOT a fine dinning experience the kitchen staff was outrageously loud, singing gossiping and banging about. At times it was hard to hear each other talk. Had the shrimp cocktail - was good but don't expect big prawns - they were just the small shrimp but tasty nonetheless. I had the salmon with shrimp. It was good but the salmon was a bit overcooked. Went here for my birthday dinner. Turns out my birthday was on National Chowder Day so everyone got a free cup of clam chowder, which was better than our entrees unfortunately. Our server was very friendly and attentive. However, the water server (maybe the host?) Came to our table too many times. I'd say he came over 5 times during our visit. He'd interrupt and ask if we need water when clearly our water cups were 4/5 full. I don't know why he would ask when he clearly we didn't need more water .... Anyway. The bread that was served was from avenue bread, warm. Butter was nice and salty. So nothing special. We ran out quickly and I wish our server saw and got us a refill. We had to ask for more. She didn't bring more butter. Meh whatever. Got our entrees. I got the crab fettuccini and my friend got the lobster pasta (forget the exact name but it was pasta stuffed with crab and lobster). My crab fettuccini was nothing special unfortunately. Pasta was a little over cooked, sauce was a little bland (tasted like grocery store white sauce), and thought it was weird that there was zucchini and mushrooms. The crab amount was not very sufficient for this being a $32 meal. My friend's meal was even worse. The sauce was way too rich, almost on the verge of it being congealed. Definitely not worth $38. We ordered the white chocolate cake. It was misleading because we got cake that was black, looked more like lava cake. It was good though so no complaints. The description made it sound like it was an actual piece of cake but whatever. They brought out a free sundae with a candle for my birthday so that was nice. Overall, I'd not go back, unfortunately. Still a great Happy Hour even after all these years away. Had a custom combo of steamed clams and mussels, and they were so good. I have to give props to Dave the bartender as well. Great food served with a smile on the Bellingham Bay waterfront - well, that's Anthony's. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Fettuccini which was absolutely sublime. Beautiful smooth cream sauce with just a perfect blend of smoke, garlic, cheese, butter and herbs. The salmon was cooked just right, flaky, but no hint of dryness to it. Went down like comfort food, but this was not simple. It was elevated quite eloquently. Wonderful atmosphere for a date night or special celebration. Quiet, romantic, views that just don't stop. The service was a 10. The waitress kept us "wet" never having to ask for a refill once. Always a smile on their faces and genuinely care that you are enjoying your experience. Anthony's has a solid mix of local fish and produce. I came here once during strawberry season and, although they tried to put it in everything, the food was great! I recommend the strawberry rubarb lemonade, it's amazing! The first time I had dungeness crab was here at Anthony's and it was great. I have also had the Halibut cheecks and the fresh salmon during the Copper River Run and all of it was amazing! I recommend if you come here for dinner to get some of the fish, it is very fresh and perfectly seasoned. I have only been here for lunch a couple times and I was really not overly impressed. Fish for lunch is a tricky thing to do so I don't really knock them for that too much. Overall a great place to grab dinner and drinks if you are in the area. read more

Such a disappointment. Went there with my parents to celebrate a special event. I waiter was just ok. My father (he's 80) asked him what kind of beer they had and he said " we have 12 kinds, there's a list inside the menu". My dad asked him if they had Bud light and he just said "no" instead he should've said, " we don't have bud light but our blonde ale would be comparable". We all got salads and two were messed up( one was supposed to have the dressing on the side and one was supposed to have no croutons). My Husband had the cioppino which was soooo salty. My scallops were barely warm. The fish that my parents had was good but such small portions. For $40.00 I shouldn't be paying extra for a salad! I came here for dinner with my friends who were from out of town as an alternative to Keenan's and what a disappointment. The only thing going for this establishment is the location and that is even not that good. There are plenty of parking in front of this place. From within the restaurant, you can't really see the sunset since the pier with boats partially blocking your view. We were seated relatively quickly. I ordered a steak dinner and it was bland and dry. Even for half price, I probably would not have ordered such food. The service was decent so that is why I gave this place two stars instead of one. read more

We usually go to the Bellingham restaurant three or four times a year. And have been doing so since it opened. It's always been our special place. However over the last year it seems as if the quality has started to slip. We were there last night for Fathers Day. I really messed up, my fault. Inadvertently I made reservations at the Hearth Fire rather than the seafood Anthony's. The hostess was condescending and curt when she pointed out my mistake. I said we'd wait for a seat and she snapped it would be a 45 minutes. However the other hostess, Vanessa, found us a table within ten minutes. Beyond that, we notice that the staff over the past few visits seems stressed or short handed or harried. There is often a lag time for the server to arrive at the table initially and also a long lag to get a beverage once the order is placed. We also notice that there is not the smiling staff as it once was. All restaurants have off nights, but the current unfriendly, slow service seems to be becoming the norm rather than the exception. The portions sizes are becoming meager - I had the dungeness fettuccine Alfredo and it was somewhat difficult to locate the crab. My wife had the rock fish and she remarked that that item had also dwindled. Cutting back on portion sizes isn't a reasonable way to increase profit. I've never minded paying Anthony's prices but they've always been in tune with what is on the plate. I will say that the food quality is still there. That doesn't seem to be suffering. Something must have changed - budget constraints requiring a cutback on staffing or a new manager or sold to a new corporate owner? Whatever the case, someone needs to take corrective steps. This isn't just my experience. I've heard people around Bellingham talk about similar experiences at the local Anthony's. By the way, the hostess Vanessa was smiling, working hard, and interacting with guests. She was a bright spot in our visit. read more

I have to be honest, I was disappointed in the food this time. I have been to Anthony's one other time, about 5 years ago, and thought it was fantastic all around. This time the service was fantastic, but my meal was meh. We arrived right at opening and got a great table with a great view. We got our drink order right away and they came quickly but my dirty martini was clean as a whistle..... not a hint of olive juice anywhere. First impressions are always important and this place is stunning. From the gorgeous stone façade to the flaming torches, it epitomizes upscale cuisine. Inside is just as impressive with the inviting fireplace in the foyer to the glorious harbor views. This is a classy joint. We did have to wait for a table but since we didn't have a reservation, I will give them credit for seating us within 15 minutes. The restaurant seating gives every table a lovely view and ours was right down front. Gleaming glassware and cloth napkins were waiting for us on the hardwood table and a warm basket of rolls arrived as soon as we sat down. I had a huge shrimp salad- Oregon Coast shrimp, avocado, crispy wontons, tomato and bacon on seasonal market greens tossed with fresh basil vinaigrette and crumbled blue cheese, probably the best salad I've ever eaten, honestly. My girlfriend had the Chiopino, lush fresh seafood swimming in a spicy tomato based broth, with warm, crusty sourdough rolls to sop it up! The food was so wonderful that I hate to complain about the rest of the experience but it wouldn't be fair if I didn't warn you about a couple things. First- although this place is upscale, it isn't very intimate, in fact, it is loud. Maybe it's the hardwood floors or the high ceilings? I'm no expert on acoustics but I am not a fan of having to yell to be heard by my lunch partner. The bar and kitchen are totally open to the dining area and the sounds of the glasswasher and blenders were very unnerving and although a preformance kitchen sounds appealing, it loses it's charm quickly once you try talking to your friend while in competition with a sizzling steak and banging pots. Second-the tables were sticky for some reason. I asked for ours to be wiped down again but it seemed like it only got stickier. Weird. And third-they seemed understaffed; service was slow. I watched our waitress dealing with a full section and the number of tables seemed way too many for one person to handle- 12? That's a lot. All in all, I will definitely be back because the food was just that good, but I will ask for a remote table so I can hear my partner speaking. I'm so obsessed with the Ahi Tuna nachos that I stop by here every time we are in town (we recently moved down south), but prices have gone up in the last few years. $6 apps are now $8.50 and the $5 bar burger is now $7.50 Drink prices have gone up as well, but at least the quality and quantity has remained consistent throughout the menu. Anthony's is a great place to go to a casual lunch with the girls or a nice dinner with your S/O. I have been many times over the years and have only one memory of "bad" service. And it wasn't that it was bad, it was that I was 18 and I felt like the waiter was treating me like it. But what 18 year old doesn't feel that way when they're at a nice restaurant without the parents? The food is always great! I've been there for surf and turf Sundays, and it was always amazing.
