This place was a hit and miss. When we entered, there was a weird smell, like a strong cheese. My nose eventually used to it. Our waitress Emely was really sweet. Coffee was hot and tasted great. My husband ordered the strawberry pound cake French toast, and it was so good. I ordered the Basqueso omelette. When it came the first time, it had a hair in it. Of course I sent it back, and the waitress was apologetic. I'm not 100% sure, but I felt like they just took the hair off, put the omelette on a different plate and microwaved it. The plate itself was hot, the egg was a tad rubbery, and parts of the cheese look congealed, which suggests to me that it was microwaved. All in all, I'm pretty sure I won't go back. To start this place is near some outlets, so eat up and walk it off. The inside gets super packed, so try to get in early. Can't have breakfast / brunch with mimosas.... A pitcher will do especially if you're not solo. Food, menu all looks good so you'll have to come back more than once to try something different. Good choices the shrimp and grits was great lots of meat and the grits were creamy. To capture that sweet tooth go for the bourbon street pancakes... wow. You will have a happy face and be full. Well I was in the mood for a late breakfast and decided to try Another Broken Egg as it was close by and not as busy (no line) as it usually is when I drive by. This was mid morning on a Tuesday. Upon walking in I was greeted by very friendly staff. A nice lady asked if it was my first time here and when I confirmed it was she grabbed a small glass mug with something in it and said "I have something for you". I opted to sit at the bar since it was just me. At the bar I was greeted by two different servers consecutively both saying they were my server. I had ordered coffee from the first but seemed to be some confusion between them but that was quickly worked out and I got what I will say was a very good cup of coffee....fresh and hot...not like some places tasting old and just warm. I ordered the Supreme Omelet (Filled with sausage, bacon, onions and mushrooms, topped with Cheddar Jack cheese) with grits. The grits were great and a very large portion. The Omelet was a little dry but still good. I never found out what was in that mug as the waitress took it away...oh well. I'll also add that the restroom was very clean and smelled nice...not just a chemical smell but as though someone cared! That's always nice. read more

Their lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes were so delicious! Usually I'm afraid to try something so bold, but this was good. The goat cheese was tangy and paired very well with the sweetness of the lemon and blueberry. The last time I went here, we were sit at a tiny table in the hallway to the restroom. The server only stopped by every 20 minutes, and so we did not get our order taken until at least 30 minutes waiting. Then she start preaching about her religion, Christianity, and made it very uncomfortable because me and my friend were in the middle of a conversation and she interrupted for that. ABY is another over crowded restaurant with mediocre food. We all know the expression "You never get a second chance to make a first impression." In the restaurant world, truer words were never spoken. We visited ABY on a Sunday morning and I knew it was a stretch since we live in a densely populated, brunch loving area. However, our visit could have been pleasant instead of borderline miserable. I mean it's Sunday brunch how miserable can it be! #FirstWorldProblems This review is dated, but at the time of visit it was no less than 92° outside. The wait area was crowded and the sweet (not sarcastic) staff was keeping the front door propped open to make it easier for them to call out names. We laughingly talked the girls into shutting the front door to keep what little AC was pumping "in" the restaurant. They even shifted one of their fans towards me in an attempt to keep me cool. (It pays to be nice) I had put my name on the wait list before leaving for the restaurant, but still had an hour wait. I'll let that go it was Sunday am!! Then we get seated. The staff was great. The menu was admirable. The food was lackluster. In the world of breakfast and brunch there is way to much competition to not stand out. All of our meals were served hot and fresh, but th e flavor was BLAND. This is not just the opinion of this opinionated writer everyone at our table felt the same way. I visited this restaurant for the first time to meet with an old friend who was visiting Houston for the first time. The restaurant was packed when we arrived but we were able to get a seat pretty quickly, after about a 20-30 minute wait. We sat at the bar area, which was great since the rest of the restaurant seemed really crowded with tables that were very close to each other. Our server provided us with great suggestions, food arrived quickly and she kept our mimosas filled. I ordered the Belgian waffle which comes with 2 Eggs Your Way and your choice of protein, I chose the chicken sausage which comes in links they were pretty good and I got my eggs scrambled with cheddar cheese on top. My mother ordered the French toast and my sister ordered the egg scramble both are pictured below! My sister and I split the country grits you must try them they have chopped bacon chives and tomatoes on top so good! Everyone enjoyed their food I heard no complaints! Two words...CITY GRITS!!! Omg I get so emotional when I talk about it lol.... I could have just eaten the grits and would have been totally satisfied. We arrived here around 11 or 12, there were plenty of people waiting outside so we knew there would be a wait. The hostess got my number and told us it would be about 35-40mins so we just walked around to waste time. They sent a text within the time given and we were seated. We ordered a feast! Finally got to check this place out after many attempts. Each time we have tried to come here, there has been a massive long line, and being hangry and impatient, we typically resort to going elsewhere for brunch. Upon arrival we were greeted by the hosts who took our party number down and was informed of an approximate time of wait. Wasn't so bad when we got in, so we decided to stick it out. She got our drink order, and noticed my Yelp check in complimentary beignets coupon on my phone and went ahead and got that right out for us. She also was very god at recommending specific sides to compliment our meal. I wish I remembered her name. She really earned a great tip from us. Very friendly and amazing at her job. Beignets was your typical fried dough with powder sugar, however their twist and take on it was a honey orange zest dipping which was very tasteful. Loved it! Hubby got the biscuit and gravy with sausage. He thought their sausage was a little different, but everything else was good. I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict with big city grits. The grits was by far one of the best grits I had. My sister hates grits and she tried it and mistakenly thought it was mash potatoes. Poached egg was cooked to perfection, and loved how they added mince red onion on top instead of sliced onions. Everything of mine was spectacular. I'm extremely excited to come back and invite my friends and family on a brunch outing. I'll probably utilized the yelp wait time list for future visits to help reduce the long wait. It's a a very cozy environment... by that I'm mean very small for the amount of traffic they do bring in! But the mimosas are incredible! We chose the apple pie mimosa's with our breakfast... let's just say fantastic! The service was slow, but it is a very busy spot. I put my reservation in they still weren't ready when we arrived... in fact we had to wait another 20 minutes. Other than that the food was great! If you're going for brunch on a Sunday morning make sure to join the waitlist on Yelp! It's such a convenience! I was so excited to try this place and my bff and I met here. It's a pretty nice area. I had the chicken and waffles...the chicken could have used a bit more seasoning but I suggest trying it anyway. We also had the mango kiwi mimosa carafe. It was a bit pricey for that small thing of mimosas but hey....they were really good. We also tried the beignets. They were kinda hard, not the same beignets from Cafe Du Monde...that's for sure! This location is also good for kids...although they don't have a play area or anything, the kids menu is ok and high chairs are available. Not only does it show how little they care what their customers receive and how they only care about getting the "food" out of the kitchen. There's the main diner area and a side room that looks like it can be reserved for group events (probably seats about 25 - 40 in the side room). The service was friendly and well paced. Food was delightful - not overly heavy but certainly fills the need of some southern comfort breakfast. The chicken tenders in the breakfast biscuit were A+. I came here looking for two things, a patio to eat on and a good breakfast/brunch menu. I was pleased to find that not only did Another Broken Egg Cafe meet both of those requirements, they exceeded my expectations. First off, i'd like to touch base on their protocols during the Covid pandemic. Each table outside was spaced out appropriately, and all visitors and employees were wearing masks unless they were eating their food. The service was excellent. The coffee was hot and kept on flowing. Marie was our waitress, and was so prompt to our needs after a semi-long Sunday wait. We got the black cherry Mimosa which was infused with St. Germaine (my favorite), crisp, and refreshing, topped with two black berries. I like that they have the pitcher option and I could easily share with my family. I also go the crab cake benedict on (toast). I like to treat myself with I go out, and crab felt like a good indulgent dish. My eggs which were over easy were cooked perfectly. My ultimate favorite dish though was the Lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes. They STOLE THE SHOW. Fluffy, sweet, and with a dash of savory/saltiness from the goat cheese. Absolutely DELICIOUS. I like that they have the otpion to make these Gluten free too. While we are on the subject there is a whole gluten free and vegetarian menu. Wow wow wow! One of the best breakfast meals I've ever had. My stomach and hearts was so happy. Angie our server was just as amazing as the food. She was so knowledgeable and fun. Her love for life and her job shows. She had such great energy and it was contagious. The food and her attentiveness made me plan for this to be my spot every weekend if possible!
