Another Broken Egg Cafe is a delightful little cafe situated in a rather large shopping complex in NW Houston. There is ample parking all around and the restaurant is decently sized. There's the main diner area and a side room that looks like it can be reserved for group events (probably seats about 25 - 40 in the side room). The service was friendly and well paced. Food was delightful - not overly heavy but certainly fills the need of some southern comfort breakfast. The chicken tenders in the breakfast biscuit were A+. I came here looking for two things, a patio to eat on and a good breakfast/brunch menu. I was pleased to find that not only did Another Broken Egg Cafe meet both of those requirements, they exceeded my expectations. First off, i'd like to touch base on their protocols during the Covid pandemic. Each table outside was spaced out appropriately, and all visitors and employees were wearing masks unless they were eating their food. The service was excellent. The coffee was hot and kept on flowing. Marie was our waitress, and was so prompt to our needs after a semi-long Sunday wait. We got the black cherry Mimosa which was infused with St. Germaine (my favorite), crisp, and refreshing, topped with two black berries. I like that they have the pitcher option and I could easily share with my family. I also go the crab cake benedict on (toast). I like to treat myself with I go out, and crab felt like a good indulgent dish. My eggs which were over easy were cooked perfectly. My ultimate favorite dish though was the Lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes. They STOLE THE SHOW. Fluffy, sweet, and with a dash of savory/saltiness from the goat cheese. Absolutely DELICIOUS. I like that they have the otpion to make these Gluten free too. While we are on the subject there is a whole gluten free and vegetarian menu. Lobster Benedict was to DIE FOR! It paired well with asparagus and everything toasted bagel. The texture was soft and warm with a lobster meat and the tasty sauce. I devoured it in 5 bites--so quick! Would order again The lemon blueberry pancake with goat cheese was part of the 1/2 jolly edition special. I would not recommend them personally. The goat cheese added an unwelcoming taste that I didn't enjoy. I would forgo the goat cheese all together. The pancakes themselves did not have a strong lemon flavor. They only had 5 blueberries in the whole pancakes. I wished blueberries were cooked inside the pancakes. I'm really glad that my friends and I decided to come here because this place was SO good. Their Lobster & Brie omelette was to DIE for. I was so impressed with the flavors. It was such a good savory dish, and you can really taste the lobster as well. Not only that it was good, it was priced reasonably for lobster. I feel like once restaurants see the word "lobster" they mark EVERYTHING up. I also got the Smoked Salmon Benedict because WHY NOT? I love smoked salmon. The waiter was also very nice and made sure I knew what I was ordering since I guess I lot of people aren't aware of what smoked salmon is...? Their breakfast potatoes are also super good. Crispy but soft all at the same time. I definitely would go back again when I'm in Houston. This place was amazing. Their customer service is also very good. The establishment was clean as well. No issues for me. If you are worried about social distancing, it's probably not the place for you right now though because the tables are not 6-ft apart. But we wore masks before eating so I felt okay. TIP: If you can, get on the waitlist on Yelp! There were about 16 parties ahead of us. I had the hashbrown eggs benedict and the lemon blueberry mimosa. They were both good but I won't order either again. For a $9 mimosa I want to taste the alcohol. The hashbrowns were kind of greasy and they were supposed to be stuffed with diced ham and cheese. The cheese was minimal and the ham seemed minced. It was my first visit but I won't go back. It was a 30 minute wait even with my name on the waitlist. To wait that long I want to want to lick my plate. I went on a Sunday though so it may be better during the week. However, my daughters and I came here around 7:30am on Friday and only a few people were there, so we were seated immediately. My daughters both ordered a hot chocolate and I ordered a water. The drinks came out quickly, but my daughters tried them and winced. I tried the drink and it tasted sour. Like the milk was made from buttermilk. I don't know, they didn't drink it, and I didn't want to send it back. I ordered just a water, then added a cold brew. The cold brew comes out in a cute glass, but they both tasted funny to me, like dirt. Not dirty, but just different...Again, I didn't want to send it back because I was noticing a theme here in the drinks. I ordered the eggs Benedict with potatoes and my daughters ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with over easy eggs my other daughter ordered the blackstone eggs Benedict with potatoes and we ordered a side of biscuits and gravy for the table. My daughters pancakes came out with scrambled eggs, not over easy. She liked most of her food, but didn't eat her eggs. My other daughter liked hers and she ate most of it. My eggs Benedict didn't seem the best. The English muffin seemed cold and not nearly as toasted as I am used to. The eggs were also a bit undercooked. I liked the green onions/scallions on top. That added a nice flavor. The potatoes came out piping hot. These were good. We also all liked the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were fluffy and the gravy had a lot of pepper in it, I really liked it. The eggs Benedict's were $13, the kids pancakes were $6, side of biscuits and gravy was $4 and the cold brew was $4. We waited around for the check, but the server didn't show up. I got up and asked how I pay, and she said she would bring the check. We got in the car and we're unimpressed by this place. Crab cake Benedict: eggs were cooked perfectly. Crab cake had no flavor. English muffin wasn't toasted, so it was hard to tell it apart from the crab cake, both were just bland and the same texture. Stingy with the hollandaise...which is a good thing, because it was awful -- I can't even call it hollandaise sauce (note: I got it without sausage, because why on Earth would you put sausage in Hollandaise???). Sausage gravy/biscuit: gravy is a weird consistency and tastes like it has cream cheese in it or something? It's like someone made sausage gravy based on a photo, rather than a recipe. Sausage patty had really great flavor, but was very salty. Biscuit was good. Biscuit beignets: literally biscuit chunks with powdered sugar. This doesn't make a biscuit into a "beignet." I would not order from here again. I spent over $50 on three breakfasts, and was only able to scrape together one halfway decent meal from it. Hands down one of my top brunch spots. They have a good variety of both sweet and savory plates. I've enjoyed the Chicken & Waffles but my hands down favorite is the Hey Lucy! Omelette. It has a bit of everything. Chorizo with Cheddar Jack cheese that just melts into the crunchy buttery goodness of the English muffin. I love that it already comes with avocado slices!! On my last visit I tried the Brunch Old Fashioned. The presentation was on the whimsical side but unfortunately it was a let down. The omelette had potential because it was flavorful, but it was on the dry side. I'm not sure what the sauce on top is supposed to be like, but it might as well not been on there. The potatoes were overcooked and I couldn't eat them at all. I didn't bother to send them back because I was done eating what I could by the time the waiter checked on us. The biscuit was okay. My rating comes from being seated quickly, the kindness of my waiter, and the amazing beignets (not pictured) that I love and order every time.
