This was my breakfast spot on my last day in Dallas. It's a chain franchise so I have been to the one in my home town and know the quality of the food. Just like the one by my house it gets very crowded. They don't do reservations so be prepared to wait. Luckily I didn't have to wait long when I went. After being seated the waiter brought out some water and coffee for me. For my meal I chose to go with the traditional breakfast. It came with two eggs, two slices of bacon, and an English muffin. You had your choice of sides and I decided to upgrade mine to a half of a waffle. In addition to my coffee I had a cranberry mimosa. My good came out quickly. I had my eggs scrambled with no cheese. They were prepared just the way I like. The bacon was nice and crisp. I didn't eat the English Muffins since I had a waffle. My waffle was light and fluffy. The food was great overall. Break an egg! A nice throwback brunch place that you would easily find a few decades ago with a bit of a contemporary update. It's got the factory ceilings and simplistic tables, not to mention a bar that most places of this kind are lacking. The pros are many. Coffee that does you justice, with free refills, I might add. Food that can fill you up for hours upon hours. But also something is missing. I can't quite place my finger on it, and it's not enough to detract, but there could be an extra comfort feature that we're not seeing. The menu is impressive, so that makes up for it, but not the type of place I would want to spend more than an hour. Perhaps I'm just complaining for the sake of it. It's a totally fine breakfast restaurant that serves more than just breakfast, but it can get quite busy on the weekend, so keep that in mind. Quite reasonable when all is said and done. read more

Ate here about two days ago. We did a late lunch around 1:00 PM but enjoyed breakfast food all around the table. Dad had pancakes with peaches and crème glaze drizzle--he very much enjoyed it. I had the Monterey Power Omelette from the healthy options menu section. The waitress asked if I wanted potatoes or grits. I decided to be different and said grits. I didn't realize that was in place of the side of fruit mentioned on the menu, but it was plenty of food even without the fruit. (The grits were just alright...but that's the nature of a grit, I suppose!) The omelette was surprisingly large and tasty for an egg white omelette. Service was decent and the place seemed new, fresh, and clean. The menu is pretty diverse, too, so I hope to go back and try more options soon. This was my first experience here and I do not intend to ever return. The level of absurdity of my entire experience was absolutely pathetic. When we arrived to the hostess stand, there were three employees standing there. They were calling for a party and walking around without even acknowledging me. When I asked, "Are we invisible?" at an audible tone, one of the employees finally decided to acknowledge my presence. He added our name to the list and said it would be a 45-minute wait. 65 minutes later, I returned to the hostess stand - confused as I saw four 4-person tables open and cleaned. The same employee said they were "trying to find a table." When I said, "I see a few," they proceeded to grab menus and seat my party. Our party ordered two bloody Marys. I specifically requested a tajin rim, to which the waiter said, "That shouldn't be an issue." When our drinks arrived, the person delivering them dropped the garnishes from my Bloody Mary (which did not have a tajin rim). So she returned with a skewer of three olives. When our waiter returned to take our orders, I inquired about the tajin rim and requested the original garnishes. After having to spell it out for him, he offered to have the drink remade. He returned with what I'm assuming to be the original drink with one singular entire stalk of celery (visibly rotten at the tip - a bit absurd) and a slice of bacon - still not the original garnishes, but at this point I had given up hope. Our food finally arrived. I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast. Another miss for the restaurant. The cinnamon rolls tasted as if they were unwrapped from Little Debbie's packages in the kitchen. Pathetic. What's more is that my breakfast also came with bacon. I'm very curious how the bacon in my Bloody Mary and the bacon with my food seemed to be completely different - one was thick-cut and the other seemed like a thin piece of microwaveable plastic bacon. Finally, when we finally received our check (also odd seeing as we received a printed receipt while other tables seemed to be able to pay electronically), it took our waiter fifteen minutes to run our cards. The hostess service seemed to be discriminatory. We were intentionally passed over for many other people of color and others who didn't seem to be a heterosexual white couple after waiting 20 minutes after being told ten minutes. We were given a substandard table passing several booths on the way to the table. I'm not really sure what Kevin looks like but my guess is that it was the young gentleman taking orders from all the other tables in the section I was seated.
