Breakfast is my favorite meal so I really enjoy several places for breakfast. Another Broken Egg's selection of coffee does not suit my taste. I'm a fan of Community Coffee and while corporate dictates many things one would hope for some latitude- such as serving a locally brewed favorite of many. As for as the meals, I typically get the Traditional Breakfast and I'm typically pleased with it. All the omelette are delicious as well. I do not recommend the waffles as they are just too dense. The service has never been disappointing. It is always prompt and attentive. I have been to this restaurant several times and will go again. It's clean and not loud. It's been a bit since I've been here. The service was a 5. The ambiance is cute and comfortable. However, I just wasn't blown away by the food. We shared a 1/2 order of biscuit beignets which were good but perhaps a tad over fried. The Monterrey Power Omelette was not bad. It was, however, swimming in what appeared to be margarine. The English muffins really weren't needed. I don't know if I would order it again. The croissant French toast--although a huge portion--just didn't impress my brunch guest. It's unique to an extent but mostly forgettable and also something I wouldn't order again. We just left feeling underwhelmed, save for the service. There are too many other good places that have joined the breakfast/brunch scene that seem to stand out a bit more. Perhaps this place has fallen victim to being a chain restaurant. I never have great service here. Its always slow and something always goes wrong with someone's order. I went with my boyfriend and a friend. I ordered lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes, and a lobster and brie omelet on all white eggs with potatoes on the side. My potatoes were dry but were made slightly better with ketchup. My lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes were slightly sour and off putting as I do not like to drown my pancakes in syrup. My omelet was not really flavorful and lacked flavor. The only flavor I tasted was salt. All in all I will only go here when begged to. Great for breakfast/brunch! The number one perk for me is that I can join the waitlist via Yelp which appears to be in real time. I suggest doing this during peak hours. I'm trying to eat a healthier diet but I always mess that up by getting the beignet biscuits! Normally I go to NOLA for beignets but these will definitely do when I don't feel like traveling too far. They are small but filling. I got an order of 4 but could've easily gobbled down 8. They are covered in powder sugar but the real prize is the honey mixture that come on the side! It tastes like like a fruity honey preserve. Man oh man is it sweet and delicious! Now on to what I decided as a healthier choice . I got the traditional. I opted for no bread/biscuit, hard fried egg, baked bacon, and a fruit bowl. It was good. The eggs had no flavor but that was an easy fix by adding salt and pepper. My daughter had the kids pancakes. A couple months back I tried to go here on a Sunday with friends around noon and there was a long wait time. We decided to go to pelican house that day for brunch instead. Today I went with my parents around 9:30 am and it wasn't busy. We didn't have a wait time. The menu had a lot of different things I wanted to try it was hard to pick. I decided to try the southern crab stack brunch specialty and it was amazing. I got the city grits as my side instead of potatoes because I got to try them from my parents. The seasoned potatoes were good. The city grits were awesome they had bacon bits and cilantro and I think diced tomatoes if I remember correctly. They had Gouda cheese in them as well ahhhh my favorite cheese. Great friendly hostess and staff. Definitely will be back I have so much more I want to try. I have been dying to try this place. They had a HUGE menu. It took me forever to decide what to order. I started off with a Blood Mary which was pretty strong! I enjoyed the garnishes it came with, and the size of the drink is pretty good for the price. Coffee was really good as well, big fan of the mugs. I ordered the Hashbrowns Benedict with the city grits. I really enjoyed the grits but thought the additional charge for it was a bit cheap. The tomatoes were an interesting but delicious touch. I think I missed the mark with my entree order, it had potential but was not my favorite. The hashbrowns were meh. My boyfriend ordered the southern grilled chicken sandwich with the fresh country potatoes. The potatoes were AMAZING. He said the sandwich was good, but not great. It was pretty slow service, but I think they were pretty busy. It could have been cleaner, but it had the same feel as most breakfast places. I came to Another Broken Egg Cafe on a Sunday morning and the place wasn't packed. There was one large group a few other customers and us. Our waiter appeared to be scattered and frenzied to cover the large group and keep up with us. Looking around, I noticed that there were 4 or 5 other servers not doing anything...how about when one server is frenzied to cover a large group and another table, you help out or something...just a suggestion. But...the food. The City Grits are delicious...they are everything! Baked bacon, scallions, and cheese in smooth buttered grits! They were good enough to almost make me forget about the lackluster service...almost. I also had the BacQuezo omelet w/ potatoes and tried the biscuit beignets. The biscuit beignets were similar to Chinese donuts served in some American style Chinese restaurants, except these were covered in powered sugar and not crystal sugar. They were fine, but nothing special and the marmalade that came with it wasn't great. The BacQuezo omelet was...so-so. The meat/cheese/egg ratio was off; there was way too much egg. The potatoes were fine...a little salty. If I had to do it over again, I'd just get a larger order of the City Grits and get it to-go. read more
