Still my #1 spot for lunch! Just wish it was closer to BR but worth the 30 minute drive and always a must to stop in when I'm seeing patients in the Gonzales area. I've tried the breakfast items and many of the lunch items and not once have I been disappointed. I told my husband today that we need to franchise a Starlite in BR, but it wouldn't be the same without the owner and chef, Richard! Always 5 stars for the ambiance and service too. Keep up the perfection, Starlite!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this cafe. It's my favorite go-to spot to grab delicious breakfast or lunch. I'm always treated the best here and feel super welcome. Not too mention the meals are always great. I don't think there's anything you get here that you won't be satisfied with. Oh and they always have delightful little desserts to try if you're in the mood. As well as tasty coffee flavors and concoctions that they create seasonally. Sugar free flavored coffee as well! (Not just SF vanilla, either) The ONLY thing I'd ask is that you all be open on Saturday so I can bring my husband who works during the week. :( Other than that, 5 stars!!

A hidden treasure, my wife says. Looks like a ladies tea room, and there are some light, healthy choices but there are also some hearty, less-than-healthy choices, too (stuffed French toast comes to mind). As the name suggests, there are a wide variety of coffee drinks, as well as a good selection of house-made desserts and pastries. I prefer the savory foods - and the breakfast options do not disappoint. The French country breakfast is good and hearty. The omelettes are nice and fluffy with plenty of cheese. The breakfast potatoes are cooked to a perfect golden, crispy brown. Lots of good lunch options, too. From soup and salad combos to sandwiches and good burgers. Something for everyone. The service is good and the decor is quaint (country cafe style) with "Starry Night" and a few other paintings all around.

Another super star here. Super fast on getting my meal which is a plus. Just from my first impression of the ppl and the food I'm a fan. Nothing was out of place and I see why people were there waiting on the doors to open. This is a local establishment with a solid staff. This is not a negative but the lights were flickering and it was a distraction. Stay tune...I will have a better assessment of them coming soon

The bathrooms are clean even if one of the doors doesn't latch well. We tried the chocolate Bavarian cream stuffed beignets and the regular beignets and the cafe au lait. The beignets are the best I had anywhere. They were a nice size and they were light and fluffy and covered in powdered sugar. The cafe au lait was just ok, I think we liked it better the cafe au lait mixed half and half with the French roast coffee for a stronger coffee flavor. The service was great. Very friendly and helpful and we don't wait too long to take our food with us. You can sit and eat in also but we were on our way through. We loved how coffee house is tucked into a little antique shop Cajun village. It has Cajun country music playing and there are stuffed gators around and lot of interesting antiques. I wish it were closer to more things to do, but if you're on the road from Nola to Baton Rouge it is a definite must! I really hope to go back with more time and try more interesting things.

But those folks are out there so here is what you will enjoy if you are like me. At the end is what will annoy you if you're like me. The GOOD I know others complained but I love ordering at the counter taking a number and having staff bring food to the table. My cashier noted that I was with a group and was able to ring our orders up separately but associate the same table number. As folks have noted, they do bring out the food as ready so you have to be comfortable with eating before everyone is served or some folks having lukewarm dish. I love unlimited self serve coffee. Others loved their premade coffee drinks especially the boozy one. I also love the decor, the staff, the large outside eating area. The food was interesting. There was a lot of hit and miss within the same dish. For instance, the table shared beignets and fried green tomotoes. I loved the okra and pimento cheese that accompanied the fried green tomatoes but the tomatoes... meh. I think I would like this dish better during peak tomatoe season. The beignets were hard but the strawberries and cream delicious. The MEH The main dishes weren't enough to complain or rave about. Two folks had omelettes, someone had French toast, someone had the biscuit sandwich with crab cakes, and someone had the limited edition biscuit sandwich. The BAD I live in B.R. proper and we have enough brunch breakfast places for me to frequent without driving half an hour. If I am driving, why not just go all the way into New Orleans! There are like 3 spots for groups over 4. So great for groups of four or two. But that's it. Notice that only two out of six people chose a biscuit sandwich. Unless you want some variation of a fried chicken biscuit sandwich, you are out of luck. They have a decent sides list. They could easy add a make your own biscuit sandwich option that allows folks to have three items from sides menu plus a biscuit on the plate and then the guest puts it all together themselves. Make that a price that matches the other sandwich prices. Tada. YOU'RE welcome! So, if I lived in Gonzales/Prairieville, and they made this change to the menu I could see myself visiting every other month or so. How it stands, I don't see myself needing to visit again.

There's a simple American/New Orleans-style breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, and grits, available from 8-10 a.m. The plantation opens at 9 a.m., and the first house tour starts at 9:30 a.m. The house tour lasts about an hour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. This was my second time taking the tour, and although the guides were different, they shared the same history in their own unique storytelling styles. Both were engaging and easy to follow. Don't forget to tip the tour guides--they do a great job. After the tour, we walked through the gardens in the morning. It's about a 45-minute stroll at a relaxed pace--walk, rest, and enjoy the scenery. Very peaceful. Later, we went to the Carriage House Restaurant, which has amazing food. The bar is also great--try the Houmas signature drinks, they're delicious. You can enjoy your drink inside or outside, then walk around more or relax. If one person wants to do everything--breakfast, museum and house tour, lunch at the Carriage House, and buy a few souvenirs--expect to spend around $150 or so. Overall, it was a great, peaceful experience, and I highly recommend it.

The guided tour does a strong job of bringing the property's past to life. Set among towering oak trees and Spanish moss, the plantation itself is visually stunning, and the home's preserved interiors give an authentic glimpse into 18th- and 19th-century Louisiana life. Rainy Day our knowledgeable and engaging tour guide, was mixing well-documented history with the plantation's well-known ghost stories in a way that feels balanced rather than over-the-top. That said, expectations matter. If you're hoping for a purely historical deep dive, some of the supernatural elements may feel a bit dramatized. On the flip side, if you're looking for a full-on haunted experience, it's more subtle than theatrical. Overall, The Myrtles Plantation tour is a worthwhile stop for anyone traveling through Louisiana. I even enjoyed the corn maque choux, which is not usually my favorite, but this one still had the sweetness of the corn and all the flavors, yet wasn't overly spicy. Just perfect! My friend ordered the chicken with mushrooms and horseradish potatoes and absolutely loved every bit of it! We then split both plates so we could try everything! All of the food was delicious, as to be expected, but the cheese grits were the star of the show! They were the right texture, were seasoned well, and were topped with melted cheese. Yum! We visited the St Francisville Inn again later in the day to go to the spa for pedicures. The spa is upstairs and is serene and relaxing. Our pedicures were well done. They also offer facials and massages, but we didn't schedule those during this trip.
