After passing this place for years, I finally stopped in. They have breakfast and lunch hours so that's what's held me back a few times. The young lady gave us time to look over the menu upon entering. I love how they serve things on croissants including the burger. Btw that burger was super cheesy and really good. My hubs got the shrimp club and he is ready to go back and get another. The only thing not so good was the French toast as it was bland. From the outside the this cafe looks neat and rather plain, but when you go inside it looks like one of those nice cafes in New Orleans which is where we are from. I don't think there's anything you get here that you won't be satisfied with. Oh and they always have delightful little desserts to try if you're in the mood. As well as tasty coffee flavors and concoctions that they create seasonally. Sugar free flavored coffee as well! I prefer the savory foods - and the breakfast options do not disappoint. The French country breakfast is good and hearty. The omelettes are nice and fluffy with plenty of cheese. The breakfast potatoes are cooked to a perfect golden, crispy brown. Lots of good lunch options, too. From soup and salad combos to sandwiches and good burgers. Something for everyone. I tried Starlite for the first time today. I got a cinnamon apple muffin that was delicious and had real chunks of apple in it. For my drink, the barista said they could make drinks that weren't on the menu if you could describe them, so I said I would like a drink with espresso, milk, and caramel. She said "I can do that!" The drink was excellent. It was just like a caramel macchiato, which was what I was hoping for. The atmosphere and decor in the cafe is very nice and welcoming,. I got everything to go today, but I would definitely stay there to eat, too. The employees that helped me were very nice. Since I first wrote the review, my husband and I have regularly gone to eat at Starlite. The sandwiches are really good, especially the roast beef on croissant one. The vegetable quesadilla is my favorite. My husband gets the chicken salad sandwich and likes it a lot. If you ask them, they'll sell you croissants by themselves, too. read more

I got my food through waitr and by the time we came to me the sandwich was a mess everything was falling out of it the bread was soggy needless to say I did not finish it. Nothing was out of place and I see why people were there waiting on the doors to open. This is a local establishment with a solid staff. I hadn't been to this place in at least 10 years, and it still looks the same. It could really use some updating (especially the carpet), but its purpose continues to be met. It has a nice little cafe vibe with plenty of sandwiches, wraps, coffee and tea on the menu. I ordered the open-faced tuna melt on rye; it was delicious. I got the deli pasta on the side; it's a little bland but nice with a little salt. My parents had french fried as their sides. They are cooked well with some Cajun seasoning. Holy moly! Best omelet I have ever eaten! I stopped here with my mom and husband one morning and man was it good! We ordered two healthy omelet (eggs substitute and leaded with chicken and veggies) one with cheese and one without. Husband got a single scrambled egg and a slice of sausage. E said it was good but not a sizable portion at all. The cashier/ waitress kinda freaked me out. She had on super short shorts and a crop top with no bra. She required a bra and longer shorts. The register kept messing up so the manager just asked if we could pay at the end- not a problem. Since there were so many problems with the register and one of our orders he actually only charged me for one egg and the coffees. I was pleased with the service, the food as the atmosphere. They do this thing with potatoes that is just zing-y! Recently, I had a soup and a salad. Cobb salad that was HUGE and bursting with flavor and textures and just yummy. And their tomato basil soup just took over the # 1 spot on my favorites list! That's above Panera's, Zoe's and Jason's! It's smooth and has a rich, sweet tomato flavor! With just a hint of spice! Let's talk about dessert options. Creative, unique selections like lemon/blueberry cookies, poppy seed muffins. If you just run in for a coffee or tea or another beverage, this place can keep up with all the chain coffee house out there! You just can't drive thru. But you don't want to. I walked here for breakfast this morning while I waited for my truck to be work on across the street. The restaurant is located at the end of a strip mall. It's not flashy on the outside, and you would pass it up if there wasn't a big sign off the road. The inside is a delightful little coffee shop. Its decor plays off the massive Starry Night painting on the wall. Unfortunately, it appears it has been that way for a while and the carpet & furniture are worn out. In the mornings that I have been here, most of the customers seem to be little groups of retires or lawyers/employees for the court house. Most of their breakfast offerings are hearty, but there are a few lighter choices. I had the Egg Scrambler which is an bacon egg & cheese croissant with a side of Home Fries. The croissant sandwich was light but not very flavorful. The Home Fries were seasoned pretty well but were slightly over cooked. It was alright but I wasn't really impressed. That is what I kind of remember from my last visit as well. I don't drink coffee, so I cant comment regarding their drinks. I also have never tried their lunches either. I would not go out my way to eat here again, but it is convenient that it is across the road from the tire shop I go to. Music is not too loud, staff is down-to-earth and friendly, and the food is absolutely INCREDIBLE. This place's specialty: their french fries. GOTTA GET EM. If you want a coffee made to perfection, get Zoe to make it if she's available. The ambience and decor is NEXT LEVEL. You'll learn very quickly why they call it Starlite once you walk in. I just wish it didn't blend in with it's surroundings; definitely one of those places you'll pass right by if you're not looking for it. This places is a Gonzales gem. read more

The atmosphere was just a tad dark for what I like, but as a cafe, it was cozy. I think the idea of a cafe/lunch place was what made me think of it as dark. There are murals and scenes on the walls and the tables, which brightened up the atmosphere considerably. They have a good selection of teas, which I prefer and appreciate. They gave me recommendations, and I enjoyed my selection. Breakfast and lunch were being served at the time of my visit, and my party of three enjoyed our selections from both menus. I was a little confused by the ordering procedure. I don't know if I missed the sign, but orders are taken at the counter, not at the table. My party realized when we saw another party come in behind us and order before sitting down. I was most impressed by the dill dressing on the pasta salad. Overall it was a good experience. The exterior doesn't relay the fact that they do serve breakfast. The inside is more reminiscent of a chain coffee house. This is NOT a full service cafe. Your drink and breakfast order is made at the counter. You can seat yourself and the cashier will bring your food to you. Dirty dishes are brought back to the counter by the diners. The food itself was actually quite good and seasoned well. The prices are comparable to the other establishments. This is obviously a favorite gathering places for groups of retirees.
