Wow! I haven't been to this restaurant in awhile because originally I didn't think they were that good... but this most recent visit changed my mind! First, they overhauled the menu and it has something for everyone. Sweet, savory, light, heavy - you name it. But the menu isn't too big or overwhelming. I opted for the Brisket Benedict which was delicious but very spicy! I like spicy though, so it was good and very fresh. (But be warned - if you aren't ready for some intense heat choose something else!) Second, we had a pitcher of mimosas which looks small at first, but we ended up getting about 5 drinks out of it and it was very good and worth the price. Third - and most importantly - the service was fantastic! We arrived about 30 minutes before they closed with a large graduation party. Our server, Vinci, was incredibly warm and hospitable and never made us feel like we were imposing by staying well after close. She was bubbly, attentive, prompt and personable. If you can, definitely ask for her! This experience has changed my outlook on Another Broken Egg Cafe and I can't wait to come back and try some more menu items. read more

Edit.. the review underneath is how I felt about this place a year ago. Now it is terrible. I walked in and instantly smelled the smell of a restaurant that hadn't been properly cleaned in a good while. Like dirty sani water and some smell I can't place. Floors were dirty. Several uncleared tables. Not up to their usual standards. I walked in today and there were 4 occupied tables with 3 servers there. So it wasn't busy at all. Only one of the servers was working. 2 servers (guy and girl) and the hostess who was kind of short with colored hair were standing by the credit card machine gossiping about someone else who I assume was not there. Not once in those 15 minutes that I sat there did anyone come over to even get my drink order. I left without ordering anything. I explained to the hostess that nobody had gotten my order and she offered to get someone to take it but at that point I'd seen enough. I thanked her and left without ordering anything. Below is my review from a year ago I've been here several times. My mother asks to go every time she comes to town to visit me at law school. It is much better than the other location. Seating is great. Interior looks good. Come early on weekends though. Great place to eat on a weekday. The food is great and comes fast. The last time I went to this location my server Molly was the best server I have had in about a year. She was quick, enthusiastic, kind, attentive, and overall a great server. I have only had one "bad" server here in the more than a dozen times I have been here, but I think he was new. I was a waitress in college a couple of years ago, so I understand being new to work. read more

Review mostly for the yummy lobster and Brie omelette; was super yummy. But the time for our food to get to our table was pretty bad, pretty much no one there and was just an omelette and pancakes. Oh and don't get the turkey sausage, was garbage. Peach pancakes were also not very good. But I would go back for that omelette! read more

This place is a little too pricey when you're feeding a family of 4 but overall excellent food and customer service. Wait time was not long at all even on a busy Saturday. Food came out fresh and hot. If you're a drinker, try the strawberry mimosa! It is to die for! read more

How about another disappointment? Their beans are AWFUL, and I'm next door neighbors with Mexico! Their beans are so bad they made me sick. And their "hasbrowns" are fried mini squared potatoes - damn cheaters! Going to an old school diner is ten times better than Another Broken Egg. Any of them. read more

My friend took me here for an early birthday treat. The food was amazing! I can't wait to return! The Bananas Foster Pancakes were amazing and my favorite. Do try the pancake trio! read more

If I spend the night in Baton Rouge then it's a safe bet I'll be eating breakfast here. The place is a little large for me, but it's always packed so they obviously need it. Great selection of healthy choices as well as not so healthy choices if you need to cure a hangover. Service is always great. Can't go wrong eating here. read more

Why does it smell like that in there? I tried this restaurant for the first time on Monday. The overwhelming scent of hot garbage hit me in the face immediately upon walking inside. The person I was with said it smelled like sewage to her. Whether it was old garbage or sewage doesn't matter, it smelled really bad. The second thing I noticed was how sticky the floors were. Walking from the hostess stand through the dining room to our table, the floors were so sticky that our steps were audible. Service was slow. Food was mediocre. The ladies' restroom was clean and smelled like bacon, likely due to the close proximity to the kitchen. The whole restaurant smelled like garbage but the restroom smelled like bacon... All in all, this place was a meh. I won't recommend it. read more

I have to say, I don't understand why this place gets good reviews. I've been probably five times and their various and ever-changing locations and I don't get it. It's average hotel breakfast buffet food at best. But it's not a buffet and it's pricey for breakfast! For South Louisiana, in particular, their isn't a lot of punch to anything they make. It's all pretty bland to me. Service is fine, but nothing to write home about. I think there's a reason this place keeps moving locations. read more

Had a bad experience from a rude hostess. We did the waitlist via telephone. As we walked in she grabbed two menus, I explained I'm on the waitlist & gave my name. She put the menus down and said it's no small tables available we can sit at the bar. We thought that was strange. We go to the bar & noticed a booth seat. Then a hostess sat a party of one at that table. I went back to the hostess stand and let the lady know we were told small tables weren't available and she suggested bar seating which we been waiting for someone to acknowledge us for at least 7 minutes. In the meantime the rude one came up as I was talking. She said the tables weren't cleaned, I said not true that booth was available then walked off w/the other hostess. I asked if we could get menus while we wait. She said Eric will be with us. Eric came & apologized for the delay. Poor Eric work the bar, bar area for orders, take carryout orders & make everyone's drink. We enjoyed our shrimp & grits, mimosa & beignets. Thank you ERIC! We'll go back before he leaves.. read more

A serious disappointment. The screaming baby and psychotic granny started the visit off on the wrong foot. My mother in law and I went here for breakfast and asked to be moved because of an obnoxious crying baby and the psycho granny actually came over and screamed at me because we wanted to sit away from her squalling little brat that she and her daughter had no more class than to bring into an upscale restaurant to ruin everyone else's meal. This psycho bitch actually came back to the back of the restaurant where we moved to scream at us for having the nerve to ask to be seated away from the child. I guess this piece of trailer trash decided that she'd use her welfare card to go upscale instead of McDonalds. However, for the prices they charge here, they need to keep the loud crying babies OUT. You expect this at Waffle House or McDonalds but for a $12 omelette I would expect a quiet dining experience. The food was not nearly worth the price. They don't cook their bacon to order and it is burnt and looks like tree bark and I cannot believe people eat it. They apparently cook it in advance and then reheat it in the deep fryer and it's horrible. Even WAFFLE HOUSE cooks their bacon to order people--and for 1/3 the price. The cheese and sausage omelette had no cheese inside of it, instead they just topped it with shredded cheese. It was terrible and the "sausage" tasted like unseasoned ground beef. It had absolutely no flavor at all. Probably the worst omelette I've ever had in my life. I asked for sliced tomatoes instead of the potatoes, but the tomatoes were mushy and pink with no flavor--and this is in the South where they should be able to get decent tomatoes in January. I cannot believe how bad the food was in this place, and for the prices they charge, they should be embarrassed by the really terrible food. I can't believe this is a chain, with food this bad, I'm amazed that they managed to keep their first place in business long enough to open a second one. Even without psycho granny the place sucks--at least she was mildly entertaining as she frothed at the mouth screaming about us asking to be moved away from the screaming brat. It was the highlight of the meal--far better than the food. The iced tea was the best thing about the place, which is a shame because someone spent some serious money opening this place and they are going to have a big tax write-off when this place goes under. Expensive and waayyyy not worth it. Go to Waffle House or IHOP or one of the many other places that are SO MUCH better than this poor excuse for a restaurant. read more

So my husband and I always try to have a date at a restaurant we have never been to. I have been told that for months now that we should try Another Broken Egg. Well first when we arrived we were ok that our wait time for a table was 20 mins.as it was clearly a nice crowd. When we received our table we were immediately given our drink order but this is where the anticipation began. We sat down at 10:32am, our order was placed at 10:40am but it was nowhere received until 11:30am so of course at this point I was aggitated. Not to mention my sweet tea was not even close so I changed my order to a Bellini which was lovely. Anyway my food was only ok since it wasn't even hot to order to say the kitchen was backed up. Definitely won't be going back to this location but I will try another one read more

For how long the line is to get a seat at this place, we were not impressed. The food was expensive and the servings were smaller than we expected. I don't know what everyone sees in this place. read more

After hearing good things about this place me and my girlfriend visited for brunch today. The prices are pretty high for what we received. The pancakes were good and so was the bacon and potatoes but eggs were cold. Our waitress Laura was far from interested in assuring we had a good meal. She conversed with other employees and completely ignored us the entire time. My girlfriend had to bring to her attention that we hadn't received a refill the entire time and she finally brought us refills after we finished our food. The service just ruined our experience here. For $30+ we could've received better service from Waffle House. read more

No good. 40 minute wait for food after we were seated. The eggs were cold, and the bacon was teeth shatteringly hard. It was $4 for three slices of that bacon on the side too. The sausage was alright, and the waiter was nice. read more

Cons: 1. Given 30-40 minute wait and weren't seated until over an hour later with no apology, only a "well, we underestimated wait times this morning" 2. Once seated in a room with 5 tables, 3 tables were left un-bussed for the entirety of our meal 3. Bus boy came and bussed half of a table as slowly as humanly possible. He literally sat down at the table while bussing it. I'm placing the blame on this guy for the longer wait time than originally given. 4. Eggs Benedict was supposed to have a medium poached egg, but it was hard as a rock. Didn't bother sending it back because we were so ready to be done with the whole experience. 5. Management. Clearly there was none. On the Sunday after LSU-A&M game you have a huge opportunity to do a ton of business, but not if management is nonexistent, which was evident by the un-bussed tables, food not cooked how it should be, and longer than needed wait time. Pros: 1. Our friends that suffered through this with us are pretty awesome 2. Server was friendly and did her best to get our check and food to us as quickly as possible. I've heard great things about other locations, but save yourself the headache and avoid this hot mess of a restaurant. read more

We were passing through town and wanted good southern breakfast. This place did not disappoint! It was amazing and fresh

After waiting for a table for 30 minutes, I was sat at a table and basically ignored for an hour. After I complained, I was told it would be another 20 minutes. I could excuse this if the restaurant were busy but it was not. After waiting for an hour and a half, I just left. Terrible service!!!!! read more

We did the no wait app and were seated in 15 minutes unlike the people who walked in and were told 45-1 hour. Oddly enough, there were 5 empty tables in our section alone, set and ready to go. Our waitress took our order promptly, but it took close to an hour to get our food, well AFTER tables who were seated after us. The food, unlike the management of this restaurant was really good. One other thing that will leave a bad taste, a manager wearing her Alabama pin in LSU country. Just sayin'! read more

Breakfast. The most important meal of the day. I'd lean towards dinner (or supper if you're that kind of southerner) being more better, but breakfast is good when I'm up for it. Get here early if you don't want to wait. I came on a Sunday around 9:30 am and was seated immediately. By the time I left, there were easily 30 people waiting for tables. Seems a little pricey for breakfast fare. My omelet (standard onion/bell pepper/ham) was $10. I can make it for much cheaper, but I don't have a restaurant...or a permit...or a kitchen. (joking about that last part. I have a kitchen. It's not bad. I'd like new countertops, undermount sink, modify and paint the cabinets, maybe a new microwave, but all in all it's a pretty functional and spacious kitchen) Anyway, the omelet was good but not amazing, but I didn't feel like shelling out an extra $5 for them to make it into one of their "signature" dishes. The hash browns were hot and everything came out quickly. Reading someone else's review, I do feel like I should mention that they're not hand cut squares. Definitely of the frozen and tossed in the fryer variety. Not terrible but don't expect fresh and hand made. My buddy had 2 scrambled eggs and hash browns and bacon. The bacon was thick cut and not too crispy (that's a good thing in my book). Overall it was a good meal although I probably would have enjoyed Waffle House just as much and saved some dough. Then again, I didn't try the fancy schmancy stuff and I guess that's what sets them apart. OH! I forgot about the chocolate milk. I ordered chocolate milk. It came out in a tall sundae glass, streaked with choc on the inside and a mountain of whipped cream on top. Was not expecting it and drank fast as to not look like some kind of kid. Your kid will love it. I'm a man. Did not love it. That's just a personal preference though. Seemed like they mixed it themselves. I rarely...drive steam boats, dad (that's a Mitch Hedberg joke). I meant to say, I rarely drink milk. When I do, it's usually chocolate (doh...maybe I AM a kid). When ordering chocolate milk I expect it to be thick, rich and full of fat. Theirs was ok, but not nearly as 1970's whole milk as I would like. read more

If I could have given them no stars I would have because we never got our food. We told the server we were doing n a hurry when he took our order. Absolute best breakfast around in my opinion. Sometimes there are long waits but its worth it to me. They are in my top five favorite restaurants. I had at one time tried everything on the older menu and have pretty much settled on the bacado omelet, (bacon, avocado and salsa). I dont think its on the menu any more but you can special order it. I also usually get the blackberry grits and some tomatoes. My favorite breakfast. read more

It was my first time trying another broken egg Café for a friends birthday. After reading the reviews I became really excited. It was a Sunday morning and less crowded than expected. We were told that there was a 45 minute wait which normally I expect to wait at least half of that time but in this case we waited the full-time.after getting a table outside which is open seating we waited 10-15minutes until a server greeted us which I understand that it's Sunday morning and I'm sure they were really busy but inside the restaurant there were plenty of tables without anyone sitting at them and I couldn't understand why we were not seated and had to sit outside in the heat. Besides the seating issue the food was amazing I ordered the shrimp and grits with a buttermilk pancake and a biscuit on the side. The buttermilk pancake was cooked to perfection crispy around the edges and soft in the middle I would def recommend it. But the real star of the show was the shrimp and grits they were very flavorful will def be back to give them another shot. read more

We arrived on Sunday morning, 12/10/17. Sundays are very busy for restaurants that serve breakfast and brunch. We know we will have to wait. We have eaten here before and the wait is always 45 minutes to an hour on Sundays. As expected, the wait was 45 minutes. After we ordered we waited ONE HOUR for our food. When our food arrived, my plate was warm, but the FOOD WAS COLD. I asked the manager if this was normal. He said no. We told him it took an hour for our food to arrive. He offered no apologies, explanations, or compensations. The waitress said Sundays are the busiest days. We already knew that. In the hour, she only refilled drinks once! The service was completely unacceptable and the lack of apology just made it seem that much worse. We have eaten here before but we will NEVER GO BACK. read more

Pleasing in a few superficial ways but I'm not feeling the hype at all when it comes to the food and price point concerning most of their breakfast items. On the plus side, this location is very inviting. It's in a pretty good area, and the interior is well decorated. I always see groups of people very young to old so I'd rate it as family friendly (this also means crying children though). The service has always been quick and polite in my experience. So after you sit down and order, the whole thing takes a not so pleasant turn. The prices aren't extremely expensive or out of this world but neither is a lot of the food. At all. At the end of the day some of these items are straight up plain and don't take much effort to make. Their pancakes taste like pretty much every pancake I've had elsewhere in town....but I'm paying more. If you are primarily a breakfast place, you'd think you could take a risk or two and offer a change to classic items. Same with their salads. The menu descriptions get pretty ridiculous too. Their "Greek Wrap" is literally a plain egg wrap but with feta. How innovative and authentic of them! I don't know. I guess it caters to a specific audience. If you need somewhat classy ambiance to have brunch with your kids or older parents, it's fine. I can imagine it as a good post church activity. Otherwise you can get similar food for less. read more
