I think the best coffee in Baton Rouge! This spot truly gives coffee shop vibes. From the color signs to the quick and helpful service, I will totally be coming here whenever I want a local coffee. I came on a Monday night around 5 to meet a friend and get some work done. I didn't know what to order, so I looked at the seasonal menu. Everything looked so good, and it looked truly seasonal. But, I decided to be basic and get the cold brew with cold foam. It was so good! I finished it in less than 10 minutes lol. The barista was really helpful in helping me decide what I want. I didn't wait long for my coffee either. There wasn't a ton of people in here (about three) but the service was fast, tables were clean, and there were tons of places to sit. There was a lot more than coffee here too. They had a whole glass container filled with cake pops! Even gluten free ones, which I appreciate. There were smoothie options too. With three different seating areas (not including the few tables set up on the entryway outside) this cafe is definitely more for group meetings than quiet contemplation. That being said there are a regular amount of electrical outlets and reliable wifi. However, it is a winner in my book for being one of the few houses in town with more than one sugar-free syrup option. We came here because we saw there were gluten free options. I got the paleo (gluten free and dairy free) chocolate chip banana bread. I was so disappointed. Banana bread is not something that should ever be dry. This was so hard I could barely get my spoon through it and it was super, super dry. My husband got the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. Yes, I picked the place due to their name. I was heading through Baton Rouge, and I knew I would need a caffeine pick me up. There were a few different choices, but this one sounded interesting. I ended up having a gingerbread latte, which was good but not OMG blow you away level. I also picked up a couple of their cake balls, which again were good, but they were pretty much what you'd expect from a local coffee shop. Bottom line, if you happen to be in Baton Rouge and want to go somewhere local for just coffee and/or cake balls, it's worth a stop. I don't know that I would drive out of my way, though. read more

I came to this place for the first time today. My husband bought the cake pops from here a few times before and today I went there with him. I didn't expect the ambiance at this place. It was so peaceful. It has the vibes of where people can come to sit around and do their work or have simple work meet or so. I had their iced mocha and my husband had dirty chai - spicy both are right on spot. Loved them. Coming to the cakeballs (cakepops), there are so many flavors. We got a dozen of them with 6 different flavors and all of them were such a hit with my girls. They were asking when can we go back. So need to plan to go back... this place is worth it. read more

Normally I am pretty happy here. I just got a peanut butter gluten-free chocolate chip cookie and it is hard as a rock. I read about Brew Ha Ha on Yelp, of course and knew I had to visit while I was visiting Baton Rouge. Me, being a sucker for a clever name that I am knew they already had me. I just love the atmosphere here. They have local art covering the walls and if you particularly love a specific piece they are for sale The first time I visited I got a frozen lemonade and a couple of cake balls since at the time I wasn't a huge coffee drinker. The lemonade was so sweet and refreshing and the cake balls were delicious (lemon almond coconut and devils food) but the star of the show was the lemonade for sure. On my most recent visit I tried an iced coffee and picked up a couple of the local jellies for gifts. I enjoyed my coffee...it was not bitter and gave me the little pick up I needed. A wonderful coffee shop! I came in on a Sunday morning, and immediately felt a positive vibe when I was pleasantly greeted by the barista. Furthermore, a display case filled with cake balls provides a nice welcome to guests coming in. There is a large selection of various types of cake balls available. On the signboard, there is a listing of coffee, teas, and other breakfast/pastry items available that day. I ordered a cake ball and a dirty chai, which is a chai with an additional shot of espresso. The cake balls come in two sizes, while the drinks come in three. I opted for a smallest of each. The prices are competitive to most other gourmet coffee shops. The barista made my order right away. There is a small station in the corner for additional sugar, cream, etc. The dining area is quite large but cozy with various paintings and artistic photography available from local artists for sale. There is a Little Free Library in the corner as well as a record player. WiFi is free and strong. There is a diverse range of patrons there, from students to professionals, to retirees, all enjoying coffee and cake in the morning. The dirty chai was at a good temperature and tasted wonderful, as was the cake ball! Overall, Brew Ha Ha was a wonderful experience and I will certainly return when I am in the area! read more

First time here and now I'm going to have to be a regular, GREAT. I was really hoping it would suck or just be "okay" so that every morning when I pass it I could keep to my intermittent fasting goals but here I am. Eating the Primo Toast and not fasting. I sent a message to the owner with regards to a complaint I had, and she didn't have the time to respond to me! The complaint was a very simple one, I didn't like the fact that a coffee shop charges EXTRA for whip cream on an Ice Blended drink! Mind you, if it was home made whip cream I may be a little bit more respectful of the charge, but it simply came out of a can that was bought at the local grocery store for like $2! I would hope that the owner has the time to respond and explain the charge for whip cream, because I would sure like to hear what she has to say! read more

Best chai latte i have ever had. I'm actually out of town right now and had a chai latte at this cute little neighborhood restaurant in Fish Town , Philadelphia and was kinda excited to try this " Lebanese chai latte" with rosewater that they were advertising. I saw the girl making my drink and at the end she took a handful of something out of a little container and put it on top of my drink then put the lid on. I took my first sip and got a mouth full of soggy rose petals and it instantly made wish I could just have a chai latte from brew ha ha. The story goes like this: I was in a work meeting last week when my coworker brought up Brew Ha-Ha's social media strategies and how well they seem to appeal to their patrons, both new and old. I had never even heard of the place (I know, where have I been?!). When she pulled up their social media pages, I was sold immediately because I saw keto and gluten free options available! I figured today would be a great day to go and try them out. And what an eclectic little gem this place is! The local artwork had me at hello before I even approached to order. I ordered an almond milk latte and asked for Splenda mixed in. Apparently, it's protocol for patrons to mix their own sweeteners in. However, the girl behind the counter took it upon herself to go grab the Splenda from the coffee bar to mix in for me! No grunting or complaining either! I then order the keto blondie and avocado brownie to go because they looked beautiful! I asked for nutrition information and the girl helping me went fish it out from the back. Again, no complaining or frustration. She was happy to help. What a concept in this day and age! Would've given it 5 stars but the blondie fell a little flat for me. I had such high hopes for it, too. It lacked any sweeteners (maybe throwing some Splenda or swerve into your batter would make them just right!). That brownie though...omg. Dark chocolate decadence. This review makes me so sad because I wish it wasn't so. When I first moved to BR and found Brew Ha Ha I thought I had found my place. In each city I live I find a cool coffee shop & make it home. Beautiful art on the walls, coffee, interesting decor. But I was wrong. I've gone multiple times with same results. I think the biggest reason I just can't brew ha ha is the complete apathy of the baristas. In any of the times I've been I've never felt welcomed. I have kind of always felt like a bother while ordering my drinks. I can't remember one time going that I didn't feel this way, same for my fiancé. I really wanted to love BHH so I go back just to make sure & it's still the same. Like, went this past weekend and had to leave just because the energy was so negative. I couldn't work on my art. Also, the coffee wasn't great. Honestly, for good vibes, positive energy, beautiful art on the walls I can do not good coffee but can't for this. They changed the tables and chairs so it didn't really have that eclectic decor feel and if you're fat like me the seating is pretty uncomfortable. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because the art on the wall is phenomenal! And I enjoy looking at it. I am now officially a "Baton Roue Baller"!! They are known for their sweet treats of pure decadence rolled into a ball, of course! As soon as I walked in, they were staring me right in the face (right through the glass case). When I walked to the side of the glass case, I could see from the corner of eye that they were still staring at me, so I knew I had to indulge in one of these delightful cake balls! For first time "ballers", you will be given some recommendations as to what will be the best cake ball to try. I decided to choose "Caramello" and "King Cake" (these are seasonal for Mardi Gras). The cake balls were perfectly moist and flavorful...not too sweet and not too rich. To wash down my round confection, I ordered a Cafe Latte with almond milk...all I could say is "YUMMMM"! The two together are perfect! As for the cafe itself... it was very spacious and clean! There is Wi-fi, so it makes for a great temporary workspace. I was in need of a new place, aside from the chain coffee shops that I normally go to work, so this place was right up my alley. Breakfast, brunch and lunch (or what they call it "munch")...they serve it up, too! Next time I go back, I will have to order "munch"!! Brew Ha Ha has a clever name. A clever name and an even more clever business model. They offer great coffee, but they also offer a plethora of cake balls. Whoever came up with that combo is a genius. I am a lot of things. If you know me at all you know that in addition to being a general lunatic, I am particularly lunaticy about drinking coffee every day. I have to have it. My preferred type of coffee shop is one that is local, has a somewhat funky vibe, and offers excellent iced coffee. Lucky for me someone who knows me well suggested I try Brew Ha Ha. It rocks. Brew Ha Ha has a pretty convenient location on Jefferson. It is in a strip mall type building with plenty of parking. Like to back in? It's easy to pull through a spot here. Like to park away from randos? It's a big enough lot that you can be all to yourself. Inside the walls are adorned with cool, funky, local art. I have always thought a coffee shop is a great place for art and theirs is very good. If I had had more money I think I would've bought that cow painting. Maybe next time. The service was pretty swift and the coffee was great. Their iced coffee is potent, yet smooth. If you are a black iced coffee fan, you'll like their blend. It doesn't need sweetener or milk and can be consumed quickly to get the massive dose of caffeine that you need. Now for the thing you don't see in more coffee shops that I think was a great addition. Cake balls! It wasn't until a few years ago that I even knew cake balls existed. But exist they do and they are little bites of heaven. BHH offers so many different flavors that you need multiple trips to try them all. Get a couple, or three with your coffee and thank me later. Good strong coffee! Got a caramel iced latte and it was delightful! Coffee tased fresh, and was made perfectly. Good balance of coffee with a hint of caramel to add a little flavor. I also got a breakfast wrap to-go. You get to make the wrap as you like, you chose your tortilla, veggies, meat, and cheese. The wrap did take a little longer than I expected and wasn't as great as I wanted. It was more of a large taco instead of a wrap. There was also too much liquid that made the tortilla too moist. This made it kind of sloppy to eat. The flavors were great though! I think it might've been great if I ate it in store instead of 5 minutes later. I visited Brew Ha Ha twice while I was in town and I'm a newly minted fan. This neighborhood coffee shop is located in the Goodwood Shopping Center and it totally reminds me of Ana Pascal's bakery from the movie Stranger Than Fiction. (Ana papers her bakery walls with political posters and hands out pastries to the homeless. Brew Ha Ha displays local artwork on its walls and rallies behind flood relief.) But aside from movie comparisons here are other factors to consider. PROS -- If you need a place to camp out for a few hours while you sample various drinks and edibles this is it. They have coffee drinks, sandwiches (hot and cold) and cake balls. Many of the menu items are named after customers (like Jay Ducote's Bite & Brew BBQ Sandwich), something you'll never see in a chain coffee shop. -- Cake balls!!! (Yes, these deserve a separate line item.) They have 50+ different flavors: http://www.brewhahabr.com/#!ballmenu/cff9. Only a dozen or so are displayed at a time. However, you can order your favorite flavor(s) with 48 hours' notice. I tried the Café Mocha, Wedding Cake, Funfetti and Bonafide and the Café Mocha was my favorite. -- The wifi is reliable and there's plenty of seating. The main room has two areas on either side of the order counter. Half a dozen bistro tables fill a second room and patio tables dot the sidewalk. (I noticed a dog water bowl just inside the front door so apparently your dog can join you outside.) -- There's a children's corner called Lilly's Library where little ones are welcome to borrow a book and return it later. They had titles for a spectrum of reading levels--from picture books to the Lemony Snicket series for preteens. -- They offer a free loyalty card...ten purchases earn you a free drink! CONS -- I didn't notice any long tables, only bistro tables. Unless you can pull a couple of those together this is not a convenient place for teamwork or group study sessions. But overall the factors combine to make Brew Ha Ha the coolest café I've visited in the city. read more

I love this place - hits the nail on the head in creating a successful "local coffee shop" - you know, those kinds we always enjoy the feel of so much when they first open but don't last a year....When a friend first introduced me to Brew-Ha-ha in 2008 I figured it would go that way as well; I underestimated Gabby Loubiere's moxie and business savvy and je ne sais quoi :) the coffee is good and choosing at the cake ball bar is like being a kid in a candy store :). But this place thrives on it's vibe and culture.
