When I'm traveling, I purposely go out of my way for coffee. It's that important to me and I'd gladly do it anytime. Based on the reviews and seeing that this place roasted their own coffee I was very excited to try it but it left much to be desired. Walked in to a very lively coffee shop, lots of students and they had a very nice sized space. Service was bleh, not very friendly just kind of like "what do you want attitude". Not sure if the college students employed are a little stressed out but you are in the service industry, give people a good experience! Ordered a pour over and an oatmeal cream pie. The pour over was good! Whoever is roasting did a great job highlighting the origin flavors of that coffee and it was brewed well thanks to the automated brewing system they had. The oatmeal cream pie was nothing special. A little hard and couldn't tell if it was old or just a recipe used that made it dense. The worst part for me was at the area you pick up drinks, it was messy and because of that mess there were a lot of little fruit fly looking things flying around. Not the best look for an establishment serving food and coffee. I really wanted to like this place. My coffee was great but a coffee shop is more than the cup. It's the whole experience and unfortunately, it was lacking. If I'm ever back in the area I'd give it a second try to see if it was a one off or not. read more

Oh my goodness I loved loved this coffee place so much. It is so beautiful and spacious, extremely spacious. You have plenty of room to have study sessions or meetings. They even offer a private room. I love the education of coffee and coffee regions it has on the wall and educational decor. They have your classic latte, along with their own signature drinks. Which are phenomenal. The staff is kind and can help you make recommendations. The coffee is made perfect is not bitter or acidic. Go check them out. Wow, this place succeeded my expectations. Even when the drink came out, I was hesitant because of the color of the Matcha. However, the drink was perfectly sweetened, the mango purée was one of the most fresh and not overly sweet ones that I've had. Sure the Matcha taste could be a little bit stronger, but in Baton Rouge this is probably one of the best tasting ones you can get! I highly recommend and would come back. read more

My first "office" of the day, I arrived here early enough to pick a good seat close to the power outlets. Cortado on the menu and when my name was called out a few minutes later, this is perfect. Served precisely the way it should be in a short glass and with another glass of fizzy water. This is a real barista and not one of those "button pusher" types! Over the course of the next hour, Light House Coffee filled up and got chatty. Lots of people talking, a few people working or studying, everyone drinking great coffee. A great local coffee shop! Their food is amazing, I am more of a fan of the food than anything here... everything I get is always amazing. I got the bacon quiche and lemonade for breakfast. The quiche was probably the best thing about my day, just so good. On the way out, I decided to get a coffee, so I got my usual cold brew with almond milk. I love to decor in this coffee spot. Not too over the top, but subtle and modern. Such a great college hang out space for catching up or studying. Every month they have local pop up shops outside the store. They have all types of toasts here also the prosciutto and fig toast is my favorite and the blueberry scone is scrumptious but they all look and sound delicious. Nice place. Not really for me. They only serve one size coffee, 12 oz. Pastries were good. I had a blueberry scone which was more cake than scone. Coffee was okay. The place was cute but overpriced and not that good. My husband got the tomato soup and said it tasted like marinara out of a jar, could not finish it. The iced coffee was also sour even after we returned it for a new cup. The avocado toast was overloaded with balsamic which meant I couldn't even taste anything else and the bacon toast was on the opposite end, under seasoned. All in all, the food looks pretty and service was good, but it is not worth the price. read more

I always really enjoy this place! It's a coffee shop I bring people when they're visiting Baton Rouge. First if all, the coffee is good! The quality is nice. The baristas steam, and aerate the milk to perfection making great tasting lattes, cortados...etc. And the aesthetic of the place is extra cute and picture worthy! Get ready to have some bomb instagram posts if that's your thing. The employees are so friendly, and are happy to give suggestions if you're not sure what to get. I also love that they sell goods of local small businesses. Things like books, hand-made scarfs, ankara bags...the items vary over time. It's also a great place to work. You'll find plenty locals with computers, and notebooks cracking down and being productive. There are both indoor and outdoor seats. I hope you love this place as much as I do! read more

This place is a gem! I've been hearing about it for awhile but never checked it out. I needed to get some work done but had a lot of family in town for the holidays so it was too easily to get distracted at home. I went to light house, found a seat and ordered an iced coffee. The atmosphere is great. One room most people were working and reading. It was more of a quiet area. The main space was a mixture of people working, socializing, and enjoying their coffee items. It does get packed fast but I'll definetly be back. Next time I want to try some of their food items. Their avacado toast looked really good. Highly reccomend. read more

I really hesitated to review this without a second visit because I know that most of my disappointment was that the items I wanted to try (namely, the maple blueberry bagel). Can I easily make this at home? Sure. So should this be something that bums me out. Probably not. Also, shame on me for expecting this to be there still at 11am. But if it helps I barely pouted and did instead partake in some random boring pastry that was available. For a drink, believe I had a chai latte. It was decent. The only highlights of my visit were some funny cards that are available in the gift shop portion of the store. Given how full the cafe stays, I'm not sure this is the most profitable use of the space. But I did enjoy the cards. Otherwise this is just a standard coffee shop. Which in a "college town" is 100 percent needed. In fact I believe the scientific standard is 1 for every 100 of FT enrollees. I'm so glad this place is on one of my possible routes to work, but also glad it's not the one I take every day. Because I'd be broke. This is a sweet little coffee shop in a shopping center off of Lee Drive near LSU. Their menu has all of the usual favorites like chai, americano, latte, mocha, but then they have fun seasonal items like a PSL, a peppermint mocha, and iced coffee spiked with lavender in the summer months. What sets them apart IMO is the space. It's light and airy with a definite instagramable feel. If I wasn't constantly in a rush to get to work when I stop, I'd stay a while. They also have this cute little shopping area where local artisans and nonprofits can sell their wares. Also, I think it just feels more personal walking in than the Starbucks and even some of the other local spots for coffee in town. The prices are a little on the high side but the drinks are delicious and I believe there is always a time and place to treat yoself and #shoplocal! read more

Lighthouse coffee is a wonderful coffee shop. From the outside, it looks small; however, it's pretty big on the inside. There's plenty of space for people to come and work and to come and hangout. Personally, I love coming here. My laptop can't connect to the internet, so I get to sit and relax and enjoy a good cup of tea or coffee. I love getting the chai latte here. It's so good and looks so pretty. The other coffees here are good, too. However, I like a cup of chai much better. My personal favorite time of coming here is during the day when they have the garage door open to the outside. I just love that aesthetic. The wind feels nice, and the smell of the fresh air is amazing. Plus, the sun isn't directly on you since you're under the roof. It's like enjoying the outside without actually being outside. The baristas are nice and provide great conversation. They just like to hangout and have always treated me with kindness and respect. I do have to say that they would like for you to buy a drink if you go and work here. This isn't a downside, because they always offer great tasting drinks and have monthly specials that change all the time. This place can get packed, so I recommend getting their early or reserving the meeting room that they have ahead of time. Light House Coffee, my new go-to place for studying. The Good: - The location. Close to LSU, close to food, close to everything really. - The parking. Huge parking lot. - The atmosphere. So bright. Somehow never loud, even when it's full. Tons of tables of all sizes. And there's a separate room off to the side if you want to do some group studying. They even have a little store with cute clothes and accessories. They have outlets everywhere too. - The staff. So friendly, so happy, so prompt. - The coffee. So delicious. Seriously made with love. The Bad: - Really, nothing. They can get pretty packed, especially around finals week. I haven't tried their food, so I can't comment on that. I'm a huge fan of their lavender cappuccino though. I have been to this establishment multiple times and have enjoyed myself until this unfortunate encounter with THE OWNER!! I went to study with a friend and I brought a drink from another establishment that I got on campus from my first class. Obviously, I did not know the rules and regulations before coming in about outside food or beverages not being aloud. While in the middle of the conversation, the owner rudely interrupted our conversation and proceeded to lecture me about how disrespectful and horrible it was for my actions. I apologized instantly and said that I will buy food or a beverage to remedy the situation, and also too, she stated that would be the only way for me to remain there. That still wasn't good enough. She then gave me a lecture about how I am taking away from her small business, while looking up and down at me and my friend in a condescending manner. I have family who owns small businesses and I understand the work that is done within them so her automatic assumption of my understanding and intelligence within that field was very belittling. She then tried to compare my actions by asking me if I would do this at a McDonald's or a Burger King. Throughout this entire encounter, I kept apologizing and reiterating that my intentions were not malicious or from ill intent, and she only offered a disingenuous apology after the fact, to a point me nor my friend felt comfortable or wanting to return. It is sad because I did LOVE coming there to study and felt the environment was for suitable work, but after that interaction, me and my friend will not be returning and I felt like I needed to say something because I was very apologetic and try to apply empathy to the situation only to be met with passive aggressive responses, "Mansplaining", and belittlement. Also, food and drink quality is mediocre at best. read more
