This was a fun find. It looks like nothing from the outside, but it's cute and the people that are working were nice when we went in. The menu is fairly extensive and a kind of weird mashup of Indian with other cuisines. Ao creative. And best of all it's vegetarian and can easily be made vegan! You order at the counter and they bring it to your table when it's ready. We ordered four dishes (tacos, dosadilla, doselada, and a calzone) and shared at the table. And everything was really good. I always looked forward to visiting Annapurnas when in town. During this recent visit, I realized something had changed, big time. For years, their samosas were some of the best: perfectly seasoned potato filling in a lightly friend pocket alongside some date chutney sauce. On their updated menu, samosas were listed as 25%, so I went for 2 thinking the portions were as they had been for the last 15 years. Sadly, this was not so. They were more like tiny hot pockets, baked pizza dough, with a rather bland, flavorless filling. Alongside a #3 cup of veggie of the day and $16 later, I realized my journey with Annapurna had come to an end, and I would not be returning. Also, I noticed the oat milk being added to the $7 oat chai was Kirkland brand, which consists of: (filtered water, organic rolled oat flour), organic sunflower oil, calcium carbonate, organic natural flavors, sunflower lecithin, sea salt, vitamin A palmitate, ergocalciferol (vitamin D2), riboflavin (vitamin B2), and cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) . Some listings also describe it as fortified and organic, with no added sugar noted in one review source. Overall a great spot for those looking for vegetarian or vegan options. They have lots of different foods to try and some specials during a happy hour. I got the Masala Dosa with Broccoli Almond soup of the day and a world chai. The dosa itself was pretty bland even though it said it would be spicy. However, dipped in the soup as its meant to be eaten it as perfect. The world chai was yummy however it did fast like it was from a mix and maybe not the freshest. They did inform me the typical chai has caffeine and the world chai is decaf. So if you are wanting decaf for whatever reason get the world chai! read more

Took out food the other night from Annapurna. I am celiac and they have some items that are gluten-free. I noted the celiac status on my order and I ordered the stirfry with tofu. It was very good with the Thai coconut sauce. The sauce in itself is very scanned. It was flavorful. The tofu was soggy. I have to say overall it was worth 1695. But I've had it in the past and it is a small abortion than it used to be. In the past, I couldn't even finish the order. And this time it was gone. I wish them well and I hope they continue to be busy and successful in a new location. Even though the following day, I did have an upset stomach. I enjoyed the masala dosa (basically a vegetable samosa) in an Indian wrap (like a spongey, flavorful tortilla, but thicker). I had the date chutney which tasted similar to tamarind chutneys I've had before. They need to give larger portions of their sauces. It came in a TINY plastic container. Also they need to make it easy to add sauces on the side. They had no way to order an extra sauce for my side of fried falafel balls, which tasted good but consisted of only 3 small (1-inch) balls for over $5! No sauce was offered with that and I couldn't even order any on the side. Also this place has no tzatziki or any kind of yogurt sauce or hummus - just a garlic sauce but I have no idea what that is and they don't say on their menu. I so wish Anapurna would get its act together. It seriously needs to edit its menu down to a few items that it does really, really well. I check in a few times a year to see if it's improved and am always disappointed. The only thing I get there now is the chai and the lemon rose cupcake. While researching veggie burritos he found this place. We are so glad he did. We each had the breakfast burritos with tofu. Mine was with red sauce and his with green sauce. Both were amazing but the green sauce one was slightly better. I washed my down with a mango lassi tea. It was refreshing and different. I am not known for trying bold flavored things like that. I tend to stick to just black tea. But this stuff was amazing. At the end we shared a carrot cupcake. I believe they are gluten free and surprisingly didn't taste too sweet. The staff were amazing talking us through the menu. The prices were great and the place was clean and inviting and has a small outside patio area. The service at Annapurna was the best today. The staff vibe has changed for the better, finally. So why the 2 stars? Okay, I'll tell you. I ordered the breakfast burrito listed on the menu filled with tofu scramble and potatoes. There is no mention that the potatoes are soggy french fries. That was one thing as I began to pull out the nasty french fries from my burrito. The next thing was finding a long black hair in the burrito. I was disgusted, but the occasional hair happens, and the staff kindly offered me a refund or another dish. But I was open-minded and decided to give the cooks another try. I ordered chana masala and kitcheree. Sadly, the chickpeas were crunchy! It was the worst so-called chana masala I'd ever had. I traded that for the kitcheree, which tasted like dish rag water with soggy rice. Ugh! It's not my first time giving Annapurna another chance. I always hope it will be better--at least as good as the Annauprunas in ABQ. But to no avail. Maybe if the owner hired an actual East Indian chef, the food would improve. The worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. It was strangely with the owner, the staff was great. The owner did everything she could to make our lunch as disagreeable as possible. There were 7 of us, only 11 others in the restaurant, we all had full meals so we were good customers. We asked for water, she refused, we wanted knives but had to eat with plastic forks and spoons. Pretty decent portion sizes for the price. I got the Yogi Bowl with Yams & Kale and Cabbage, a "Mumbai Frankie" with feta cheese and chipotle sauce. Was not disappointed. Atmosphere is very casual/fast casual; order at the register and then find yourself a seat. Servers bring the food out. Ladies behind the register were very polite, kind and patient. This was a good place where we could accommodate food choices for our Jain friends as well (who eat Vegetarian food but no onion, garlic, potato). We went in and asked for to-go lunch. I ordered Avocado Toast, South Indian Thali, Bombay Frankie and Khichdi (kitchari). The portion of avocado was quite small, it's just one small piece of toast, I thought they could increase the price a bit and offer two pieces instead. The avocado was fresh and the feta on top was fresh too. They have option of bread as gluten free and focaccia. The Bombay Frankie was a bit fusion where they allow you to replace roti wrap by dosa wrap. I asked for dosa wrap but the filling tasted the same as normal dosa, it wasn't a different filling. It was huge in size for sure. The South Indian thali mentioned it has 2 idli, 1 vada and a mini dosa. But in packaging I received 2 vada and one mini dosa. I was missing idli and that was the major thing for which I ordered the Thali, so was a bit disappointed, but the food overall tasted good. The sambar could have been more thick in consistency but taste was above average. My friends liked the food so much also with the flexibility to do their changes per dietary restrictions that they also picked up dinner later that evening. Here lies my issue: we received the incorrect veggie option and when I went up to ask the cashier about it he said "oh you ordered the other two...and we just ran out of the other one if you wanted it anyways." That comment sort of left a bad taste in my mouth, having worked in the customer service industry previously. Either way I won't base my review solely on this comment. The food was great, and everything had really nice flavor. It was definitely a good night to go vegetarian (definitely would eat here often if I was local). The portion is much less than it was before, but the price was the same. I also ordered a falafel sandwich that was completely filled with lettuce and a little fluffy drop of tomato. Was very excited to find this GLUTEN FREE & VEGETARIAN/ VEGAN bakery. Needed dessert for a gluten-free friend. An impressive array of pastries were on display so it was hard to decide. We ended up with one pie...1/2 coconut & 1/2 pecan. The flavors were good.... (I don't eat GF very often so maybe this is not fair) but the coconut half was very dry & the pecan pie filling was very dry & almost "gummy". So flavor good but texture, not so much. Will try again...i wanna try the banana cream pie.... hoping it'll be a better texture. Having said what I think are short- comings....i will tell you that we ate it all anyway. I can truly say I felt in love with this place. So much I went twice on my trip that I said I would try out all the different places I could. Finally a place where all the menu was available for me and my alimentary regime and boy did it feel good!. I started off with some Pad Thai that did not disappoint in flavor and portion size. Just the amount I needed to fill the pit that resides in my stomach. The sauce wasn't spicy and asked for more but that didn't do the trick either but it didn't take away from the experience. The breakfast burrito was almost the length of my forearm!, and it was a challenge I gladly took on in the name of flavor and good food. I did finish the whole thing but it wasn't without a fight so you may wanna share this one or keep all the goodness for yourself in a to go bag. Annapurna's is a creative vegetarian cafe with vegan-friendly options ranging from breakfast to lunch, dinner and dessert. I was pleasantly surprised that they offered breakfast all day (it was a Saturday), so I ordered the veggie scramble with VeganEgg for a late brunch. You can choose your toppings and although I wish I received more avocados in the dish, I still enjoyed it. I also ordered a coconut water and I was delighted to find that it was served in an actual coconut. That was a nice touch, especially with fresh coconut pulp primed for my devourinh. My friend had the ABLT, which was also quite good. I particularly liked the fries, which were tasty and crisp. Due to being stuffed, we didn't order much else, except for biscotti for the road. It was decent, but they had other dessert options that I'd be interested in trying in the future. All in all, I enjoyed the vegetarian menu that clearly marked what was vegan. Going to Annapurna was an experience deserving of it's name. To alpinist, the holy grail of climbing is mount Everest, but as you're training to get ready for the ultimate ascension, if you find yourself in good hands, they take you first to Annapurna. The 10th highest peak in the world. Like it's namesake most be, Annapurna World's Vegetarian Cafe is a great experience. It's relaxed, easy going, and very different from regular New Mexico. The moment you walk in the ambiance overtakes you. No longer are you siting in a Old West influenced corner of the world, but in the Himalayas. The paintings, the sculptures, the clientele all spell Namaste and invite you to find nirvana. While you're not approached by a waiter to ask you what you want, they have menus by a counter which you can pass by and pick up and take back to your table, which I found is very New Mexican. Our server was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We decided to go for a coconut water, and to my delight is was served inside the actual coconut (very Caribbean), I also ordered the Massala Dosa, a large bread (the Dossa) filled with incredibly well season potato and vegetables. Overall the experience was delightful. Not only will I be back, just passing by has inspired me to take up hot yoga in Santa Fe, who knows, maybe I'll find someone there to realign my shakra! I have never left a yelp review before, but I feel that not doing so would be inconsiderate to potential customers of this establishment. I have been vegetarian for 16 years, and vegan for almost 4, and I have never, ever been to a restaurant where the food was so inedible that I genuinely could not eat it. We spent a little over $60 for three people and afterwards we went back to our airbnb to eat toast for dinner. It was shockingly bad food which led me to wonder if the menu creator had ever even prepared and tasted these dishes as they were entirely unpalatable. Anyhow, I'd recommend not eating here.
