This is authenitic Oaxaca cuisine. Top marks. New Mexico has an abundance of Mexican food but you don't always find one that specializes in a particular one. Fiesta Oaxaca is the opposite, not only specializing, they put forward rare dishes that you don't find many other places, i.e. mole is 5 different flavors. It's great. the mole sampler helped us narrow down meal choices. Go with any of their specials or enchiladas, you can't loose. We were excited to go to this restaurant because we were in Santa Fe last year and the place was packed and we could not get in. I made a reservation for Tuesday evening and we had no problems. We ordered chips and salsa. The chips were thick and cold and the salsa looked like it had come out of a jar. So then we asked them to take it back and they brought back warm thin chips that were burned and slightly better salsa. We also ordered a spicy margarita. It had absolutely no flavor, except that it was very hot. Sort of like water, with jalapeños and hot sauce. They brought out an extra shot of tequila because it clearly had tasted water down and that only marginally improve the flavor. We did not even finish half of our drink. The bright point, was that the Mushroom quesadilla that we ordered and the pumpkin flour quesadilla that we ordered were absolutely amazing. Very flavorful very fresh very inventive. In order for restaurants to be of high-quality, they must do everything well including the fine points like drinks and appetizers. Came here after a No Kings protest for lunch and it was not too busy on a Saturday afternoon (1pm ish) We had: Appetizer- Cazuelita de Queso Fundido (I don't remember chorizo if there was any in it but it was delicioso, and the corn tortillas were very soft and tasty) Tamarindo margarita - they said they only had "silver" tequila when I asked what kind of tequila. No casa migos. (This ended up not being as good as it sounded but it got me buzzed. The teauila tasted cheap like jose Cuervo) Horchata - we've had better. Great New Mexican food!!! This was a quaint little place we went to for lunch because it was on the way back to our hotel from a conference at the convention center, and we had a discount. What a pleasant surprise. Lovely shaded outside seating. Staff were friendly and service was quick. I had a shrimp taco, pastor taco, and barbacoa taco. It didn't look like much when it came out and there weren't a lot of toppings on the tacos, but the prep and flavor of the meat was fantastic. The shrimp taco had delicious sauce and flavor. The black beans and rice were also delicious. This was the best Mexican/New Mexican food I had in Santa Fe. read more

Wasn't really into the food, but it's probably my fault. I ordered the mole oaxaca, received the mole rosado(I think, based on the color), but decided to just eat it because it's something new, why not! It didn't really taste like anything. My friend and I randomly stopped in and we're not disappointed. The place is quaint but has space for groups with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outdoors and even though we were the only guests outside we were waited in promptly. We both ordered mole dishes thinking we were getting the enchiladas; however, there was some miscommunication and we got the platter. Since it was the same meat and mole we decided to not press it. So make sure to be clear on what you want because dishes are named the same thing! While that was a bummer the food was delicious especially the mole and beans! I would have eaten much more beans had I been served. They were not too salty with a great amount of flavor. When getting a to go box the waiter offered more beans and rice! My heart was overjoyed. We came to Fiesta Oaxaca as a party of 5 and were in a rush. We wish we could have stayed here longer, but we enjoyed a quick bite. I ordered the vegan Taquitos dorados -these are wonderful. Both the red and green sauces were solid here, and it was a great pick me up. Horchata-their horchata was wonderful. Very present with the cinnamon without being too much. Mole chicken (I was unable to get the name) -love the cinnamon with this sauce. Normally I am not a cinnamon person it this was well balanced, and not too sweet. Definitely the most unique thing that we had here. Their seating was comfortable and their decor was vibrant and lovely. Exorbitant price for a terrible meal. The website boasted of lots of "colorful vegetables"such as jicama, avocado, fresh greens, etc. I requested black beans, corn tortillas, lots of vegetables, and salsa. The server said, "we don't have vegetables." I ended up with a small handful of iceberg lettuce and chopped tomatoes. The salsa didn't arrive until my meal was almost over despite a second plea for it. My wife had "a chicken tamale with mole." It was bland and oily and unlike any tamale (we lived in Mexico and now in Tucson) the chicken was stringy and tough. She got no vegetables except for a stem of cilantro with 3 leaves. The staff was nice but spoke little English. We had to search for menus. The bill was $64. I hope they can fix these issues. read more
