Amazing experience. The staff and bar tender Alec were above any expectations I could have asked for. They know their drink and food pairing well and the food is more the worth coming back for. Myself and a friend had 2 dozen oysters(from 4 different regions) the snow crab claws(excellent) and the swordfish marrow dish(I would come back to eat this every day if I could). I really hate to leave a restaurant a bad review but I just had the most underwhelming dinner ever. We had to send back the monkey bread as it was stale. They said the white wine needed to be chilled and offered us a complimentary glass of wine while they chilled it. Then they brought over a warm bottle. We sent back the bottle and then they charged us for the complimentary wine. The seafood tower was flavorless. The only thing worth eating on the incredibly over priced seafood tower was the shrimp. The mussels we ordered as main dishes were a good portion for a decent price - $26 - and were quite good. However, the $28 fish charcuterie board was so small that it was actually comical. This is the first time in my life I've ever actually been so surprised by the portion of a dish. There were 4 tiny pieces of each of the three types of fish that were included on the board, and maybe a teaspoon each of the jelly and carrot toppings. Plus some pickled veggies that were honestly kinda gross. The sever was friendly and pretty attentive. She checked in soon after we received each dish. The ambiance, to me, was meant to give off a nice but somewhat casual setting. For this reason, the charcuterie board totally threw me off, as I was not expecting something so measly at this place. The mussels and server saved the meal and brought this up to 3 stars. I've been to this restaurant twice this month! the mussels first attracted me on my solo date just relaxing at the bar, and then brought me back for a round of drinks and apps with my friends and family! they never EVER disappoint. the menu is so unique from other restaurants in the area that i've been going to my whole life, but whatever i try always blows away my expectations. Love the upstairs outdoor covered seating which is perfect at sunset. Would definitely recommend to anyone even if it's just for a drink and some appetizers! Anker has some definite good points- it is in a great location and the ambience and view upstairs are lovely. Our waiter was very friendly and professional, and overall the service was fast. The food, though, was just OK. We had a watermelon and tomato salad to start which was extremely fresh and delicious, but the entrees (risotto and duck) were underwhelming by comparison, especially considering the rather high prices. The risotto had a nice color and texture but was lacking in flavor aside from saltiness. The quality of the duck breast (which I am guessing is local) seemed very good, and the outside was seared really nicely, but it was lukewarm and slightly undercooked, and served with a quinoa salad that tasted like something you'd buy in the prepared foods section of a bodega. Again, though, the vibe is good. I would go back for beers or cocktails for sure, or might try checking out the lunch menu at some point, but definitely won't go back for dinner. read more

Came in for a nice late dinner. They sat a table of 8 next to us that was very loud (drunk) and I mentioned it and they said sorry but did nothing about it. Came here the day before Veterans Day with my friend we drove from Queens it tooks 2 and half hours after rush hour. The seating area was up a long flight of stairs and the table had high chairs which were very difficult for Seniors to sit on. We wanted seafood so we both ordered the Lobster Rolls , Baked Clam and a Salad every thing was horrible !!! and it all had so much Dill on it. Both the clams and lobster were tough to chew. I have had Lobster Rolls in Freeport and other restaurants in Long Island not only was this bad but it was over priced too. The only thing I enjoyed was the beer and the view. We loved everything we were presented with. We're avid restaurant connoisseurs and we just don't get the negativity. Food is some of the best out here. Well I like different styles but this went a bit too far. The clam chowder was a disappointment but maybe some people love it. The blue claw toast looked great but too much citrus and dill to appreciate the crab. The porgy sausage was interesting but it taste like a mushy hotdog. The fish and chips were amazingly good but my wife's mussels disappointed her. Staff seemed a bit confused at times. So much staff that actually just walk around. Over-the-top amazing food, staff and ambiance! Four ladies celebrating a milestone birthday, could not have been more pleased with the eclectic selection of food. We shared and loved all the dishes we ordered. The Kabocha squash, artichoke crab dip, fish & chips, char grilled oysters were all amazing. One lady was "culinarily challenged" so they made her a special chicken dish; she ended up leaving her comfort zone to taste everything and loving all of it. The staff were extremely accommodating and brought us complimentary deserts. Limited menu. Over priced "fru-fru" food. I prefer less fussy trendy, more flavorful food. Raw oysters were superb ( hard to mess up). Lemonade was delicious. Clam chowder was full of clams but needed more salt and less taragon. It was almost there but herb overpowered the delicious clams. Monkfish cubano was overpowered by lamb panchetta. We discovered this place last night when walking around Greenport. We decided to go upstairs for a drink. The ambiance is absolutely lovely. A lovely view of the Marina from the upstairs. The cocktails we ordered were delicious. We ordered the Lavender Fields, Spicy Tamarita and Peconic Breeze. All 3 cocktails were delicious. I rarely order cocktails as only a few places know how to make well balanced quality cocktails. Happy to say our bartender Justin made delicious drinks and did so with a smile. The view was fabulous and decor was great, but we all didn't really like the food. Quite a few of us for lunch. Had several of the Lobster roll which was pretty good but the Fish and Chips were so over fired and super dark which means the oil was not clean. The Whitefish sandwich was Blue Fish and had a very weird taste. It was Just overall very greasy and not what we thought it would be. The fries were also dark from the oil. Let me tell you what drives me crazy! Slow service in a place that is not even busy. Stoped in last evening around 7 for dinner at Anker. There were literally 3 tables seated in the entire restaurant. We sat upstairs and ordered 2 beers. The waitress came back 10 minutes later to say we are out of that- so we ordered 2 Peronis. The bartender put the bottles on the bar the waitress took 2 glasses and poured them straight in causing a huge head of foam- in fact the bartender commented on her poor form. Unpleasant to have 2-3 inches of foam on my beer. We ordered. Scallops appetizer was tasty and dinner was good. Took forever to clear our plates- again 3 tables and 2 waiters and a hostess- a bartender and a food runner....? Why? She finally cleared then came back a few minutes later with dessert menu we asked for the check. She brought the check then disappeared- my husband took the bill to the bar to pay it- ridiculous. I know it was Maritime festival weekend but no excuse to give pathetic service to a few Sunday evening diners. Seemed like she may have a relationship with the other male waiter- she spent more time talking to him. Sorry to say but that's how it was. read more

Truly awful food. I could not even chew threw one of the few meager, tough, over-fried clams in the clam roll. It was so tough that I had to spit it out ($22 of inedible food). The lobster roll wasn't much better - peculiar, unpleasant seasoning that ruined the lobster. Not much lobster either for a pricey $32. Beware - the prices they show on their website are lower than what they are charging in the restaurant. Nice place to go for a drink, but don't order the food - it's inexcusably bad! read more

Here's my run down of Anker. Drinks 0 stars. Sucked I had a Kamikaze zero buzz. Decor 5 stars I liked the entire set up very nice Food 2.5 stars. Fish tacos good , oysters fresh no cocktail ( wtf ) sauce some weird seawater concept. Lobster bisque soup should just have been Bisque soup lobster flavor. Lobster appetizer hmmmm tiny portions come to mind. The fish tacos saved the food category. Deserts 4.5 stars enjoyed all three deserts coconut cream and chocolate mousse ( can't remember the 3rd ) were good . Service 1 star. The hostess did not know if her seats were available , reserved or what was going on advised us to ask inside. Ordered our drinks came out 30 minutes later minus a shot of tequila. 2 minutes after the drinks were served our meals came out served along with the appetizers at the same time. 6 plates on these tiny ass tables. We ordered desert which came out quick and along with it was that shot of missing shot tequila 1 hour later ( really how long does it take to prepare a shot of tequila ) Also we asked to canceled when the meals came guess they forgot. Anyway we kept the shot and paid for anyway. Note^ I am not really going after the actual floor staff they looked understaffed and not properly trained. This falls on Managment. Price Zero stars. Extremely expensive for the quality of food , drinks and service. $12 to $18 dollars for deserts hmm. This place is set up for the tourist who have $$ and bad taste buds. I did not see one local in the place except myself. Once the season is over what will Anker now do for the locals who are the only ones left behind. Simply put the his place is overrated. I have no problem spending $500 dollars on a meal that gives me a $500 experience. Anker does not do that for me. The bill was $245.00 plus $40 tip ( yes we do not punish our services for managment mistakes ) for a $100 experience I strongly recommend passing up Anker and just go hang out with the free Blacksmith across the street . The clam chowder had few if any clams, the side order of fries came in coffee cup size container and cost $12.00!, a side order of bread was a hot dog bun that was toasted. Waitress brought the wrong beverage and the we watched as she poured wine from one glass to another to even out the pour. Everything on the menu was overpriced. In a town of mostly boring bar food, Anker stands out as an upscale option. Tppetizers rivaled some of the best restaurants in NYC. Customer service was 10/10 (another thing severely lacking in Greenport) and the chef personally checked on us multiple times throughout the meal.
