Mussels
Cyrus A.

We had a stellar experience at Anker, I highly recommend if you're looking for upscale seafood in a lovely setting. Service was phenomenal, we had a great server and the manager was equally helpful in getting us seated. They clearly care about the dining experience here. The oysters were delicious, they tasted so fresh and it was great getting to sample a few different types, spanning from very briny to sweet. The mussels dish was also amazing -- mussels were perfectly cooked, and they came in a sauce that had some spice, almost like a Thai curry. It was a nice change from the more traditional tomato-based sauces that are usually found in this dish. For drinks, they have an extensive wine list, as well as unique cocktails and a few beers on tap. The cocktails were excellent, with really unique flavors stealing the show. The space is lovely, really spacious with a clean, modern aesthetic. The upstairs has an open roof, and is considered "outside" if you are dining with a furry friend. All in all, well worth the splurge if you're in Greenport and want a nice meal.

Sandy Shoals

My husband and I sat at the bar upstairs without a reservation. We started with the Sandy Shoals cocktails (a watermelon margarita, essentially) which was lovely. I'm not usually a fruity/sweet cocktail person but this was like fresh watermelon juice and it was so refreshing on this super hot day. Agustin was our bartender/waiter and was super friendly and fun. We ordered the char grilled oysters and the sea bass crudo as appetizers. Both were delicious. The oysters had kind of an Indian food flavoring to them. The crudo was awesome. For entrees I ordered the mussels. They were underwhelming, unfortunately. They were room temperature -not hot- which kind of ruined it. The flavors were good but some of the oysters were dried out. I feel like the dish was probably ready ten minutes before they brought it to me. My husband's burger was INCREDIBLE. I never order burgers because they just seem boring but this was amazing and far superior to the mussels. I wish I ordered it! The rhumb line cocktail was also great- I'm not usually a rum gal but this was like a rum old fashioned with cinnamon and it was fantastic.

I have not had a burger in several years, and I finally decided to order a medium rare burger. The restaurant did not seem to be that busy, but our order did take a long time to appear. Eventually, the dinners came out except for mine. I patiently watched everyone at my party enjoying their dinner while I waited. When the burger finally appeared, it was well done rather than medium rare. I am starving, and I wanted to tell the server, but she never asked us if we were all good. I slowly ate the burger for a half hour, finally I gave up and finished it. When the server finally appeared and asked if we wanted anything else, I stated that I asked for a medium rare burger, but received well done and I was too hungry to wait for you to appear again. She said she would take note of it, and she did. She took off $3.00 dollars on a $30.00 dollar burger. This is my fault, not the restaurant. I should have walked into the kitchen with the burger and asked for one that was medium rare as I originally ordered. Yes, it was disappointing since it was my first burger in years, of course. The restaurant has two dining areas. The second-floor deck overlooks the water with a tropical ambiance. The floor in which we were seated was on the street level with limited tables. We also ordered asparagus, tuna tartar, and fish and chips. The muscles were not that meaty, but the sauce It was cooked in was delicious. Except for the burger issue and the service, the restaurant was good.

Lobster roll on toasted Swiss roll with greens on the side and homemade fries.

The 2nd floor open-air dining room which overlooks the harbor is a comfortable space. Service was friendly and efficient. We received our meals promptly especially since it was Friday. The lobster roll is served on a perfectly toasted Swiss roll in a delicious sauce and greens on the plate. Homemade fries. Altogether a lovely plate.

Just when I was ready to give up on finding great food in Greenport, this restaurant has restored my hope. The food was great and not in a "everything else was bad this is just better," kind of way. It was good enough that this Manhattan girlie hardly had any complaints. The fish and chips was superb. Extremely crispy without having too much breading. The fish was fresh and light. The dish was portioned and priced right. The watermelon salad had great flavor. I loved those candied jalapeños. I might have to steal that idea! The only thing I didn't enjoy was the watermelon drowned in oil, which pooled at the bottom of the bowl like soup. I wasn't a fan of the texture that created. My partner had the mussels which was great. I had fun dragging my French fries through his bowl. That sauce was *chefs kiss Unfortunately the "loco coco colada" was a fail. It was sour juice when it arrived at the table, with solidified beads of coconut milk. A far cry from the advertised " frozen drink." Lastly, for the serial no reservations just vibes people, the restaurant is small, so seating is tight. However I did enjoy the oyster bar seating regardless of that. It was nice to feel the breeze on my face and people watch as I chow down. I'll definitely visit Anker again when I'm back on the north fork.

Raw oysters

Went on a Tuesday for lunch. There were not too many people so the noise level was low and we got our choice of seats. There are upstairs and downstairs seating. Started with the crudo which was ok. They raw oysters were fresh and delicious served with 3 kinds of sauces. A bit pricey but totally worth it. Had the whitefish sandwich which was good. Service was okay.

French onion dip, delicious and fun! The squid ink made it so unique

The Quick: Chef Axel Irizarry is a genius! Forget farm to table, this is "nose-to-tail" -- this chef uses the best local, fresh ingredients in such creative ways that noting goes to waste. Amazing new menu, incredible outdoor roof seating (with water views!) Friendly staff, best location in town, and awesome cocktails. The Details: We've been dying to try this spot since we heard about the new chef and menu. Anker is a sister restaurant to Greenhill across the street, mostly seafood menu. The chef puts a creative spin on the freshest seafood imaginable. He uses every part of the fish in different flavorful recipes you won't find anywhere else. Black squid ink french onion dip with homemade chips? Sign me up. Grilled fish collar? Sold out, have to try next time. The clam chowder, should be basic right? Wrong! It had such a depth of flavor I can't even explain how amazing the clam chowder was (10/10 must order). I will get better photos next time, it was dark and I couldn't even capture how beautiful everything looked. Such a great addition to the North Fork!! Perfect for date night, people watching during the day (girls brunch, group outting) ... Put it this way, I'll bring my parents when they visit town. The Damage: Reasonable without drinks, of course that brings it up a notch. Absolutely worth it!

We stopped in for a cocktail and were welcomed by the owner and bartender Mike like we were long lost family. They have a bar and a dining area inside and another on the roof. We sat at the bar where Mike made us some fabulous cocktails that were very refreshing and delicious, we also ordered two different types of oysters on the half shell that were briney, sweet and absolutely delicious. I will definitely return on my next trip to Greenport

Grilled Seabass (the best Seabass of my life!!)

Fresh ingredients and a really nice view on 2nd fl deck. They had the best grilled Seabass dish I had in my life. Fish and chips was beer-battered, super crunchy outside, and moist-fish inside with a delicious fries on the side. Their oysters were fresh and I enjoyed them even though i am not a big fan of oysters, and their New England Clam Chowder is a must try! It is not the cheapest food you find, but considering the super fresh seafood and how they cook the dishes, it is definitely worth it. The staffs were very friendly and the food was served quickly(except for the grilled Seabass, but I could see why it took longer when I saw the quality of dish). Highly recommend this place if you are around Greenport area!!

Turkey chili!

My sis and I were in town for the weekend and made reservations for Anker, a first time for us both. We were worried at first when we realized it was restaurant week but we decided to try it out anyway. We are so glad we did!! The pricing was superb and the food was spectacular!!! We both had the famous, well-known turkey chili! Boy was it tasty and filling!!! I highly recommend Anker and I can't wait to try again with their regular menu! I didn't get a chance to take pics of my dishes but I did snap a pic of our appetizer which was perfect!!! Looking forward to trying out their Apple cobbler dessert which they were unfortunately out of at the time we dined. :(

2.5/3... Small but nice seating outdoors on their roof deck. The hostess was very nice and seated us right away, Thankfully we got there around 1 and somehow beat the rush because there was a sizeable line of people waiting for tables once we were set to leave. Waitress was sweet and explained the food menu and drinks. They have some fun inventive signature mixed drinks and their chowda really is that good and not just something they are told to say. Service was... Weird... We all ordered 2 dishes, but were never asked if we wanted one as the main and one as the app... So once the food started coming, 3 of us got a dish and one of us got nothing. Ok... Then we waited a while for our second dishes... One of us got both of their dishes at once with 2 of us getting our dishes as well and then another person at our table didn't get their dish for another 10 min... And as he was holding the last couple of bites of his meal in his hand the busboy just takes his dish from under him... It was really bizarre and wasn't sure where the disconnect was but kitchen and foh seriously REALLY need to do a better job of communicating... Some of the entrees were ridiculously overpriced: a piece of avocado toast with some potatoes cubes and a simple salad really shouldn't cost $14...but I digress. Lobster roll was on point as were the blackened shrimp tacos. On the fence about returning here when we're back in the area, so we shall see.

Yennicott Oysters

Very impressed with Anker! My wife and I are staying in Greenport for our "mini-moon" and have been trying to cover as many restaurants as we can in the area. We walked by and Anker peaked my interest but was hesitant due to some of the Yelp reviews. I have feedback for the few fellow yelpers who almost deterred me but I wanted to give Anker the recognition they deserve first. Their interior is beautiful and I was pleasantly surprised with the upstairs where we ate. It had beautiful two toned wood floors, well designed fixtures and a gorgeous view of the water and Greenport. We started with a half dozen Yennicott Oysters and they were so fresh, light and delicious! We would have had more but we're going on an oyster tour around town tonight so this was a nice teaser. My wife spotted someone getting the crab toast delivered to their table and by the looks of it, we had to try. This was also incredible! Beautiful flavor profile, light and delicious, topped with sliced peaches and served on an airy/crunchy toast. Both texture and flavor were so well balanced. I really enjoyed this. For our main courses, my wife got the watermelon salad and WOW. This was so inventive, unique and AMAZING! She described it as "summer in a bowl" and I have to agree. It was a base of whipped ricotta cheese with pistachio and lemon topped with watermelon, mint and evoo. This dish was really worth coming here for. I got the fish and chips, they said it was black seabass but I'm pretty certain it was cod. It doesn't matter either way, the fish was crispy and golden brown on the outside and succulent and fresh on the inside. I would have loved to try it as seabass but maybe next time. Also the fillet could have been a liiittle bit thinner (it was about 2.5 inches thick) but it's completely fine and I have no reason to deduct any stars for this. They nailed the dish. The fries looked hand-cut and were double or triple fried, as they should be so that they're crispy!! I also have to throw more kudos at the chef for making guajillo tartar sauce- it's a genius collaboration of a delicious mexican pepper paired with French tartar. It has a nice bold, smokey and spicy kick. What I love about Anker is their uniqueness. Their chef is adventurous but delivers comforting and familiar flavors that really work well with each other. I will be back here for sure. To the yelpers making poor claims about this restaurant- you almost deterred me from coming! There is a McDonald's a few towns west and I promise they will deliver bland and predictable food at a cheap price. And whoever mentioned their fryer oil is dirty- seasoned fryer oil creates flavor.

Why have I been walking past Alpina everytime I'm in Greenport?…read more Was it the dark atmosphere? Did I think I was getting just another American-German influenced restaurant with only brats and potato pancakes? Did I expect polka? The experience was actually slow and refined, without the white tablecloths. Alpina has German, Swiss, and slightly Northern Italian influenced cuisine, along with a selection of alcohols I was completely unfamiliar with... which made the experience feel full of new things. The most memorable food was actually one of the simplest. The chef prepared incredibly creamy, caramelized onions with a slight sauerkraut tang that was amazeballs. I told our waiter that I'd write him a love letter over it, and here I am! The pappardelle had shredded duck, cheese, and big, fun, chewy noodles that were satisfying to slurp. It just needed a dash of pepper to elevate it. The meat and cheese board included a few things I'd never tried before, and it was so good I was searching for a meat shop in Manhattan so we could buy them again. Portion sizes aren't huge for the price, but it was worth it to us. I felt a little to gaslit when the waitress said that was little gem but as I eat it regularly I know the difference between whole leaves and cut up romaine. They obviously ran out from the holiday but the salad should be cheaper since the substituted ingredients cost less. It was really just the Temu version of what I ordered. It still tasted good but would be nice to be know ahead of time that what you order is different. The burrata also looked different than the photo and I wouldn't have ordered it if I'd known it was going to be covered in balsamic glaze. The manager was super friendly and apologetic and explained they were out of things (pappardelle ragu, Bloody Mary mix, etc) due to the weekend. They also ran out of real napkins so cocktail napkins were it. My mom ordered the lobster cavatelli and she got Alfredo on linguini with cheese all over it. Forgot to take a photo but probably better off since an Italian would pass away if they saw it. The branzino was well cooked, not my favorite flavor. The big red pepper that came with it was apparently on vacation too. My aunt said the linguini was decent but had cockles instead of clams. Really wanted to try the berries and hand whipped cream but wasn't going to risk being disappointed with the dish looking nothing like the photo once again. They also suggested a tip after tax, not before. Not cool. The staff is sweet and hard working but definitely needs training. We ordered the Little Gem Salad but when it arrived, it was served with romaine lettuce (not little gem), and when we asked the waitress she at first said that it was little gem but then acknowledged that they were out of it and substituted it with romaine (without telling us). A manager sauntered over to our table a few minutes later and asked if everything was alright -- He didn't apologize for the salad mix-up or anything and just played it off like he was paying special attention to us. Just weird and not very professional. Otherwise the food was decent. The pizza was good but small. My branzino was quite good and an ample portion. Also the corn agnolotti was really delicious.
