The food was good (but a lot of salt), and the service was alright. I think they need to work on the overall experience a bit. They have nice ambience here. Kinda fancy kinda casual laid back. They were out of straws lol. Love that they give you crayons!! Everyone was happy with their meal. I wish the meatballs had a side with them. Would come back!

Why have I been walking past Alpina everytime I'm in Greenport?…read more Was it the dark atmosphere? Did I think I was getting just another American-German influenced restaurant with only brats and potato pancakes? Did I expect polka? The experience was actually slow and refined, without the white tablecloths. Alpina has German, Swiss, and slightly Northern Italian influenced cuisine, along with a selection of alcohols I was completely unfamiliar with... which made the experience feel full of new things. The most memorable food was actually one of the simplest. The chef prepared incredibly creamy, caramelized onions with a slight sauerkraut tang that was amazeballs. I told our waiter that I'd write him a love letter over it, and here I am! The pappardelle had shredded duck, cheese, and big, fun, chewy noodles that were satisfying to slurp. It just needed a dash of pepper to elevate it. The meat and cheese board included a few things I'd never tried before, and it was so good I was searching for a meat shop in Manhattan so we could buy them again. Portion sizes aren't huge for the price, but it was worth it to us. Don't be afraid of the dark entrance, the ligonberry on the menu, and ask the bartender about the connection between the giant copper gnome and penguin shaker gone rouge.

Our mixologist was clearly passionate about creating great cocktails. I could kick myself for not remembering to take photos. I hope to come back for the food. Excellent service and lovely ambience and decor.

We had a great experience at Kontacosta Winery. From start to finish, everything just hit right…read more We started with a red wine flight, which was a perfect way to get a feel for what they offer. Every pour was solid, and it made it easy to narrow down what we liked. Our server/bartender JR was fantastic--super knowledgeable, easygoing, and made great recommendations without being pushy. We ended up going with a bottle of Merlot they suggested, and it was excellent. Smooth, well-balanced, and exactly what we were hoping for after the tasting. Honestly, just a fantastic wine. And I we also got a whiskey that sampled great. Exited to have it! Between the quality of the wine and the service, it made for a really enjoyable experience. It was on the beach and we loved checking out. But the main area was super cool! Definitely a super cool Albany spot we'll be back to.

In one direction you have a cliff where you get to look down at the beach and water... then if you turn around you get to look back at the main house of the vineyard. It is so vast in the distance and something about the reclaimed wood with red accents just got me going. SO BEAUTIFUL. We were able to walk right up to the counter and try the different options of wine they offered. The staff was super helpful in helping us decide what we wanted. (They had spritz options also!)

The vineyard is beautiful, peaceful, and well kept, with open views and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to unwind and enjoy your surroundings. It feels calm and welcoming without being crowded or overwhelming. The service was good throughout our visit. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful when it came to explaining the wines and guiding tastings. Everything felt organized and unhurried, which allowed us to really take our time and enjoy the experience. They were attentive when needed but also gave plenty of space, which added to the laid back vibe. The wine was pretty good overall. There was a nice variety available, and while not every wine stood out, several were enjoyable and well balanced. The quality matched the relaxed setting and made for a pleasant tasting. It is the kind of wine you can easily enjoy while sitting outside and taking in the scenery. Overall Old Field Vineyard offers good service, great ambience, and pretty good wine in a lovely setting. It may not be the most standout vineyard on the North Fork, but it is absolutely worth a visit if you are looking for a relaxing and enjoyable wine tasting experience. My wife spotted this rustic looking facility, so I turned in and immediately got a good feeling about it. The owner greeted us and made us feel entirely welcome. We sat down and looked at the tasting choices and had a fairly easy time filling up our dance card with 5 selections. We had the place to ourselves at first, and spent time getting to know Perry, a woman whose family has owned the operation since 1974. She said most of the buildings date back from the mid 1859s. Entertainment was also provided by 20 chickens (17 hens and 3 roosters). The wines were wonderful and lovingly explained by Perry. We left with a red and a white, and a feeling that this had been a very special hour.
