The fried mushrooms were flavorful and juicy and the onion rings I got the large but the small would have been more than enough; fresh and tasty. Service was terrible, waited for 30 minute, after I ordered they were calling everyones order but mine. They were very unorganized the girl working the front counter was confused she did not know what was going on,I finally gave her my order receipt back and told her to keep the food and the money, they somehow forgot my food order or gave it to someone at the drive thru window. 1st time here, wanted an Italian style sub so I ordered a #1hogie. Did not realize it was served hot, so when I got it out of the wrapper, the bread was chewy, and lettuce was getting soft. First we love Ankar's. My family has ate here and the Hixson location more times than I can count. Food has always been good, onion rings are simply the best you can get now that Nikki,s is closed. We have ordered Steak n a sacs, gyros, burgers, falafel, veggie burgers, chicken & pretty much most of the riders and subs at varies times. Today we happened to go into the 58 Hwy location and it was busy as usual. Wait time was a little longer than normal and the orders being called were all over the board so it was hard to tell when ours would be up. Finally got our order which was almost put on tray wrong like the previous two orders were, it was awful. I'm so sad that it has declined like this. We watched a couple of the workers fill orders with no gloves on, one was scratching his head over the food and then putting things in bags(thankfully not ours but.... Yike). The steak n a sac was being microwaved so when we got it open the bread began to harden and was chewy, the falafel was fried to hard and the tzatziki was not tzatziki... it tasted like a blue cheese dressing?? Or it was spoiled I had to throw it away it scared me. The onion rings didn't disappoint though so there's that. I don't think we will come back to this location. I am sad to say I have eaten at Ankar's 58 for the last time. I love Ankar's but tonight's service and lack of concern regarding my experience or the temperature of my food was too much. I placed my order at 7:21 PM and at 7:46 I had to go ask about my order after noticing all four employees just standing around gabbing. When I asked, the girl at the counter pointed to my sandwich on a tray and told me she was waiting on my fries. The other girl then asked the cook if the fries were ready to which he turned around and placed the fries 'they were waiting on' on the tray with my semi warm sandwich. No apologies, and they went back to gabbing. 5 minutes later the guy 2 orders behind me had to do the same to get his food. The fries were warm, the sandwich semi warm, the wait 26 minutes and would have been longer had I not went to ask, and the service was terrible. read more

My coworker ranted and raved about this place so I had high hopes. I ordered the Gyro and hummus. The hummus was very good, but the gyro was very disappointing. You get lamb strips here, and it's not fresh. I would never order the lamb here again. I'm not sure what people see in this place. I tried the one in Chattanooga several times with similar results. Not quite sure how the food which should be flavorful, is so bland. They have a variety of items but don't t seem to be terribly good at any of them except for salads. It could be your cup of tea but I'm done. read more

Ankars in Hixson is ALWAYS awesome. Steak in sack meat is always steaming hot and juicy. This is second time we have gotten steak n sack at Hwy 58 and very disappoited. Say goodbye to Ankar's Hoagies on Hwy 58! Although there have been no restrictions on restrictions on dine-in service for a month and a half, Ankar's on Hwy. 58 chooses to not offer this service. I haven't had their food for about 3 months! We decided to go through the drive-thru and order our usual steak in a pita and onion rings. By time we got home, 10 or 12 minutes later, our sandwiches were cold, the onion rings were soggy and the pitas were tough, hard and broken! Needless to say, I had to throw out $23 worth of food! A bit pricey for for 2 sandwiches and 2 orders of onion rings. I will never darken their doors again! read more

I've never had a bad experience at Ankar's. The owner is extremely friendly & the staff he has on hand have always been professional & a pleasure to do business with. My personal favorites are the chicken parmesan rider with cheese while the gyro is a close second.The streak in a sack & burgers are awesome as well. read more

Very friendly folks working the counter here. The owner had a big presence too and displayed excellent customer service. This is the kind of business that I like to spend my money at. I had the Club Sub and it was very good. My wife and I split an order of onion rings which were excellent. My wife loved her falafel sandwich. We had three kids with us that all got kids meals which they liked. We took our food to the Riverpark for a picnic. The four of us could have sworn that the counter lady told us that ketchup for the three orders of fries that the kids ordered were in the bag but we found there was none when we got to our destination. The kids didn't enjoy the ketchupless frenchy fries. I would give five stars but went wanting the Cuban sandwich that I normally get at the Brainard store. I didn't realize that the menu here is a good bit smaller and does not have a Cuban. Still, this is a great place. read more

I've eaten at the other Ankar locations and this one was ok, but not as good as the one off Brainerd Rd. I do like that they have a drive-through, that's a big plus. I ordered a turkey and cheese hoagie and a cheeseburger and fries, well done. They were good. I wish the hoagie had some pickles or something to add some zing. It was just kind of plain. The bread tasted a little off than the usual bread I've had there. The burger was good. I had a taste of it from my friend that I ordered it for. Very hefty. The fries were good too, even though they weren't house-made. Just some frozen crinkle fries, but they did get them well done. I'll definitely go there again, just for the sake of the drive-through and the friendliness of the staff. That gets and A+ in my book. read more

If I lived in Chattanooga, this would be a go-to for me. Way to clean to be considered a dive. Food was great, but the atmosphere was so much more. It was my first time there, and we stopped in bc the airport was only a few minutes a way, but you can tell this is a precious family owned business. It seemed there were 3-4 generations there on a Friday evening.... Many many regulars. They know each other. They know the kids that come in. I heard one of the owners say to a group of ladies that came in, "What is going on? Is today Friday already!" The food was fresh and there were a lot of choices. Yum! This place doesn't look like much, but they're hiding deliciousness inside! I had the gyro with onion rings, and my hubby had steak in a sack with fries. Both were magically delicious. The gyro had the perfect amount of meat, onions, and sauce. Their onions rings are perfectly battered and fried to crispy awesomeness. The steak in a sack is well seasoned steak, peppers, and onions in a pita type 'sack' with cheese and mayo or whatever you'd like. Fries... Ah, the fries. The thick cut steak fries of your dreams.
