Depends. Sometime I've been there and the beef tasted old. This has happened at least 3 different times.

They recently started serving breakfast. Very large quantities and very good prices. Great tasting home cooked style meals.

My wife and I tend to share an appetizer and a main most times when we dine out. We started out with the stuffed piquillo peppers and they did not disappoint! If you are a fan of goat cheese you will love these too. The sweetness of the pepper with the tang of balsamic coupled with the smooth taste of the goat cheese is almost to die for! We then shared the Pimento burger with fries and those too were outstanding! The burger is not overwhelmingly big, but big enough for two to share. The fries were absolutely delish! The service was good as well. I don't remember anything over-the-top outstanding but these days, decent service might actually qualify as over-the-top relative to what you see at most establishments! (so sad) Definitely worth a try if you are in the Chattanooga area.

Now, the place had more noise than a family reunion after someone mentions politics--two teenage softball teams carrying on, laughing, living large. Hard to fault that. Better than silence so thick you can hear your own regrets. Food showed up quick, which is about all you can ask when you're hungry enough to consider eating the menu. And it was good--honest good. Not "tell your mama about it" good, but solid, dependable, "yep, I'd order that again" good. Prices didn't make you feel like you'd just financed somebody's boat, either. Beer was cold--like it ought to be, like it better be--and the waitress understood to be there exactly when we needed her and vanishing when we didn't. That's an art form. Now the atmosphere... well, it had all the charm of a place that once had big decorating plans and then decided, "Eh, this'll do." A little on the bare side. Felt like a Friday night that never quite got dressed up. But I'll tell you this--I'd go back. And that, right there, is about the highest praise you can give a place without writing a love letter to the chef.

I'm reminded of an older homey diner, plenty of seating, plenty of staff assisting. Pre-pay, get seated, order you drinks and choose from so many southern dishes. The presentation was that of a cafeteria mixed with mix n match buffet equipment, I think this played part on how I choose my food. They home style choices were numerous so definitely something for everyone. What I did love about this restaurant, it was definitely serving the local community and based on the number of larger, multi generational families seen together it was truly heart warming. I think this environment is much better than a stuffy environment and great to see a community supportive of the locals. Close to Hwy 27 so in the mood for a large meal or just some home style cooking give it a try. Finally don't forget to pick up some local honey or goods.

They come by often to ask if you need another dish. Only thing I did not care for was nanner pudd'n was dish of soggy Vanilla wafers about a tablespoon pudding & could only find 2 slices of banana. Will not order that again. They do cornbread the right way NO sugar. That's how I grew up eating cornbread & I love it. My Dad is from Virginia he said if it has sugar it's corn cake not corn bread. This is our 2nd time eating here. Here for TVA Sequoyah outage.

Every one of the sides looks so good and fresh that I wanted to get each one of them just to try it! The fish was cooked perfectly and was nice and tender. The added little muffin I didn't expect was a nice touch and delicious. The collard greens were SO GOOD. I'd get them again. So flavorful and cooked well. The beets were fresh and the goat cheese carried so much flavor. For the desserts, we got the carrot cake with pecans and chocolate cheesecake. Both were soooo good. I would get both of them again, especially the carrot cake which was so warm and moist. And the candied pecans were such a nice complement to the cake - not too sweet at all. The ambience is super nice and fresh, and our server was so sweet and engaging. The hostess as well. Everybody there was so nice and welcoming. The reviews looked well, so we went hungry and excited. The restaurant is gorgeous, loved the view of the restaurant as I ate on the wall of booths. We had a reservation that was taken promptly, our service was convenient but I wouldn't say pleasant. We ordered the veggie pizza (great flavor, slimy texture from too many mushrooms etc 4/5) the ceasar salad (started with some finesse 4/5) and the jerk cauliflower(5/5). The only item we were disappointed in was the wings (1/5). Now let me explain. Wooden city reads as a smart modern, quality of food type of location. The wings were great values finest: and thus were huuuuge and unappetizing. Yall pull up, just don't get the wings lol
