Great hamburgers--generously sized but cooked juicy and tasty. So many burger places overcook the beef until it is dry and tasteless. Not at Armando's! Toppings are generous with the onions cooked and the lettuce fresh and crunchy. My first visit and I did take-out. Service was quick and friendly. Prompt too. The place is a throw-back to highway restaurants of the 1960s and 1970s--and the vibe is exactly that of a family roadside restaurant. Plenty of parking. read more

Located along Lee Highway, it is easy to find. Coming from Shallowford, it's on the right just as the two lanes narrow to one. There is decent parking available with spaces adjacent to the building as well as across a travel lane. Walking in the ordering counter is on the left. There is a menu on the wall behind the counter but they also have paper menus on the counter. I placed my order at the counter and sat down in the small waiting area nearby. My order took about 15 minutes to prepare. I was there about noon so the time is as would be expected for a made to order item. It looks like a lot of their business is take out but they do have a good amount of seating inside. My burger was prepared properly and the bun was fresh. I would have preferred a bit of sear on the meat but the flavor was very good. The lettuce and onion seemed fresh as well. The seasoned fries were cooked properly and quite tasty on their own. Quantity of food for the price was very good, and the quality of the food was top notch. Armando's is an excellent burger place and definitely worth a stop. read more

The burgers were big so that was a plus but the service was not great. I know they were super busy that day I came in but as I waited for me to go order the cashier was complaining to another employee about an indecisive customer on the phone. Made me feel uncomfortable because if she complains about someone else she is just as likely to complain about me when I leave because I was an indecisive first time customer. ....oh Chattanooga......please tell me what all the fuss is about.... ...I've heard of armando's for years....and today we finally tried one.....(mainly because they were the only burger place open at 10:30a.m., which happened to be our "lunchtime").... ...first of all...the good news...their potato wedges were delicious!...fresh....hot....crispy on the outside and fluffy and light on the inside...... ...but now the crux of why we won't be back....as we sat discussing this business while we waited for our order to arrive, I remarked that what probably makes this place "famous" was its burgers....unfortunately, the burger did not meet my expectations.... ....it came out way too fast....and though I like fast service as much as the next guy, this made me suspicious of the perfectly round patty on my bun that had not one hint of "sizzle-y shine"....it wasn't hand-patted...( I think i had imagined a hot and juicy, irregular-edged, grandma-style patty bursting with flavor ....it was the exact opposite... dry...barely warm...and tasteless.....I am convinced it was warmed over from some earlier preparation.....even the "fixings" we're minimal.....the bun was fresh though and toasted (which was not enough of a saving grace to make me want to finish my burger)..... ...the dining room itself, though clean, was a little rough around the edges....(old carpet, dark paneling, raggedly cut plastic table coverings)....and we were greeted with quite a few "off smells" (beginning with the dumpster that sits near the front door, and even inside which just seemed saturated with "old fry grease" odors.... ....so.....if it's a good, decently priced burger you are hankerin' for, go around the corner to Five Guys ....or, yes, (I can't believe I'm saying this), even McDonald's!....(their quarter pound deluxe is better than an armando's).... ....sorry, guys!.....I so wanted to like you!....(maybe other locations are different?).... read more

I just moved my business to this area and noted Armondos close by. I ordered the double cheeseburger and onion rings. I thought that the prices were a bit high until I got my food..... the burger was gigantic, hot, moist and the BEST burger that I've had in MONTHS. It was really too big for me to eat, but I couldn't stop myself! And the onion rings were delicious too. I'm glad I decided to give them a try. The kitchen was fast and the waitstaff great! The decor was a bit, um 50ish? Really outdated, but This isn't the place you are going for special dates, just great burgers. So who cares about the decor? Give me another great burger! read more

Went Friday @ lunch time. Took 30 minutes (from walking in until I walked out) to get 1 burger and fries to go. Ordered swiss mushroom burger. Got CANNED mushrooms and the cheese was the individually wrapped waxy plastic stuff that they have to label FOOD in the stores. The only redeeming quality: the fries were good. Drive-thru chain would be better value, and way quicker. read more

NEVER have I been disappointed by any of the Armando's locations. I remember eating there as a chid, always such a special treat. When I bought my first home as an adult, I told my real estate agent her top priority is to find us a house within 5 minutes of an Armando's. True story! And she succeeded. When we bought our second home, we made sure we had one close by there as well. The size of their burgers are no joke! And the double burger? Wow! That's a lotta burger! Just left there. Ordered 2 burgers with my boyfriend. As we were waiting to pay at the register. There is was a cockroach crawling on the wall by the switch plate. I will not eat there again and we are throwing away our other halves of the burgers. Very good!!! We stopped in on our way through town for a quick burger. This is a great greasy spoon stop. I had the patty melt which was a simple meat, cheese, grilled onion then toasted on the flat top sandwich. My husband had a bacon cheese burger all the way and it was excellent!
