I absolutely loved our meal at Andiamo! We did not have a reservation but walked right in on a Friday night. It seems we got very lucky because this place is so lovely. We were seated immediately at such a romantic table in the corner. The menu has a little something for everyone that likes Italian food. And the Italian restaurant with the best overall reviews was Andiamo. We went and now count ourselves among their legion of fans. It was all Pros: - Location: Easy to find. Just west and a little south of the most historic part of Santa Fe. However, it's a 1/2 block on a side street so be watchful. We used Waze to drive around. - Exterior: Nothing unusual. Andiamo was probably a standalone home many years ago. - Ambiance: Inviting. As if someone took very good care of their large and expanded dining room. Light, airy and comfortable. - Menu: Something for almost everyone (there's always an exception) - Food: Excellent. I started with a "special" Arugula Salad (14.59) with small slices of fruit and various nuts. Tasty! My wife had another "special", a Butter Lettuce Salad (15.50) which she raved about. For entrees, I had the Penne Arriabata (only $18), It was large and full of flavor with just the right amount of spices. My wife had the Chicken Piccata ($26) and noted it was as good as what she had growing up in NYC! That's high praise! Bread was an extra charge ($4), but that seems customary these days. And besides.....it was thick, toasty and tasty with their olive oil. For wine, we shared a bottle of DeLa Rabotine from Sancerre ($59). It was a fine recommendation from our server, Dylan. - Service: Excellent. Dylan was friendly, helpful and down-to-earth. - Price and Value: Reasonable. We paid $138 before tax and tip, but it was worth the cost for an enjoyable meal on vacation. - Parking (could be a con): We got lucky on the street, but I can easily see how parking might be tight. While visiting Santa Fe recently we decided to order Italian food for take out. After reading the reviews we decided to try Andiamo. We ordered three different dishes: spaghetti with shrimp, fettucini with mushrooms, and chicken parm. But because I dislike mushy pasta, we asked them to make all the pasta al dente. They did text me when my order was ready and when we got there , she said the last thing they were going to do is drop the pasta! By the time we took our dinners home, the pasta was cooked perfectly.The flavors of each of the dishes was excellent. Enjoying al dente pasta from an Italian restaurant is a must! Andiamo is highly recommended. Remember to ask them to make your pasta al dente! read more

Wonderful time with friends here last night. We had eaten here once before, but we sat outside & never went in. The interior is LOVELY. Clean & white, with muted lighting. Tables are close... so it can get a bit loud if you have any hearing issues. We had Scottish salmon with lentils & green beans. DELICIOUS! Our guests had the trout and cleaned their plates & commented how good it was. Staff was helpful, attentive & friendly. The only downside to the meal (besides a screaming baby, which was not the restaurant's fault, but annoying) was the Caprese Salad special. We were a bit surprised that it didn't have basil (capers instead) -- a bit weird, but we like capers, so that would have been OK, but the huge, beautiful tomato slices were mealy... past their prime. We only ate one slice each of tomato, but we finished the capers/mozzarella cheese. We will DEFINITELY go back. The main dishes were worth a return visit! read more

This beautiful serving of pasta had more than just mushrooms - it came with spinach, tomatoes, fried artichoke, truffle oil, and parmesan. Each bite has a different flavor profile since there were so many components in the dish. It was a journey. I do wish it came with more noodles though, I feel like the noodle ratio was off but still good. We also ordered some sage bake house farm sourdough bread *not pictured* which sopped up the extra pasta sauce nicely It came with some olive oil and was overall just great bread. I've been here multiple times on past trips to Santa Fe and had fabulous experiences. I was so excited to bring my Italian friend here tonight. What a disappointment... Our table wasn't ready when we go there, even though we had a reservation, we ordered in a reasonable amount of time, and our drinks and salads were brought promptly. The burrata beet salad was fabulous as was my Pinot noir. Then things went downhill. My friend's margarita was terrible from the first sip. Then I got my spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce was good and noodles were perfect but the meatballs were so dry. I've ordered this before and was shocked. When the waitress finally came around to ask me how it was, I told her they were dry and mealy. She said she would bring me a dessert to comp for my disappointment, but that never happened. My friend had the fettuccine with mushrooms and artichokes. There were no artichokes in the dish and it lacked flavor. We sat there for another 25 minutes with unpalatable meals, and finally had to go inside to ask for our bill. The waitress did take the margarita off, and did ask why we didn't like it. This was found by our party on a whim! The only complaint I have, and I'll get this out of the way first, was that the hostess was not very communicative with guests. I only say this because I've been a hostess before, too, and I know how overwhelming it can be on a busy night, but you HAVE to communicate when you say you will. I think it also made me question why she had an iPad but couldn't give me an estimated wait time... however, she was friendly, and I could tell she was working hard, I just think this lies more with upper management training employees. I also think that if they are expecting a busy night, have more help so she's not running around trying to do it all herself! That's not fair to her, and not fair to the guests as this is a domino effect. Now, the 5-star review. The wait wasn't long, and we got lucky! I HIGHLY recommend a reservation! The hostess was very nice and sat us as promptly as she could, and I appreciated that. Once we were sat, 3/4 of us ordered wine, and the wine was crisp and flavorful. Then we got the bread for the table which was just sliced sourdough served with olive oil (a mild olive oil). This wasn't anything special, and I do wish there were a little more to it, but it was $4 so I guess can't say much else there. We then ordered the caprese salad special for the table and OH. MY. GOD! It was so good! It was almost sweet? But savory, and the tomato was the star of this show, and usually I find it to be the basil or mozzarella. We then dipped the rest of our bread into the juices of the tomatoes left behind, and *chef's kiss*! If the caprese is offered, GET IT!!! I then had the mushroom pasta, as did my friend. Someone else had the penne with red sauce and the last person in our group had the bolognese. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. The mushroom pasta was interesting and very flavorful yet mild if that makes any sense at all. The friend who ordered the bolognese said it was the best he ever had. Our group kept raving about how great their meals were! Lastly, we had the cream puff pastry with ice cream dessert, and our server told us it typically comes with three but brought four so we each could have one. Very good as well! Overall, besides the start of the experience that, again, is more of a training/scheduling issue, this was an amazing place. I'm glad we found it on a whim and were lucky to get sat. The food was presented in a decent fashion. The potatos where a bit dry and the asparagus was cold. Prompt service after seating - however after that the service experience turned much for the worse (very different from the usual Santa Fe experience). Server gave us the specials twice. Seemed annoyed when we asked for salad without walnuts because of an allergy. Then essentially disappeared after order. Never checked on our food. Came back to ask about desert but then sent the busboy to offer a menu. Chicken piccata was excellent. Spaghetti with chicken parm was dry. We haven't gone to this restaurant in about 15 years because we had a fight with the owner over our wine selection. (Talk about lack of customer service!) Went back the other night and it was equally horrible. The wait staff didn't hear my order correctly and when it arrived, it was just a horrible mess of gluten free pasta that required a knife to eat it and just tasted like garlic. Four of us had dinner at this restaurant last week. It was a birthday dinner for two Santa Fe residents. We were warned that the last time that they came there during happy hour the price for their drinks was not priced at the advertised rate for happy hour. They overlooked it and didn't mention anything and they enjoy the food there very much. I asked our server if the happy hour price was in effect and was assured that it was and that we would be charged accordingly we ordered food, which was very tasty however, when the bill came, the pricing for our drinks did not reflect the fact that we were there for happy hour. This difference in price is not really about money so much as dishonesty on the part of the restaurant and scamming of their customers. Had this not happened twice once to our friends and then again when we took them there for dinner, I might've overlooked it as well, but I feel it reflects a lack of concern at the very least for customer service and possibly something more distressing, which is cheating.. the food was very good. Nice place but they can't figure out what table they should give you till they include the staff to comment on while you wait without a warm friendly greeting like an Italian restaurant should. My now husband and I came to have a sort of upscale elopement in Santa Fe. I had contacted them via email ahead of time to advise that we wanted to come here for our after ceremony dinner. Just the two of us, to celebrate having just gotten married (7.13). I emphasized an intimate table and was given assurances. We get there, the venue is cute, everything starts out nice. They don't really indicate anything about knowing who we are but mention that they are holding the table next to ours. I was pleasantly surprised and assumed based on that, this was the arrangement to give us some privacy. We start to order and this is where it all goes wrong. We order water first, Pellegrino to share. Neither my husband or I drink alcohol. It's just not his thing and I have been sober from alcohol for over 2 years. Not something I should have to explain but I will now for context. My husband orders the drinks, the water because we had just been joking about him ordering FOR me to be able to say "my wife will have." The waiter made a lot of assumptions based on not having all that info. He looks over to me like "are you sure YOU don't want a glass of wine?" The answer is no, I didn't but I felt pressured by a waiter on my wedding night, to drink. After that, the assumption was made that we were going to be a "cheap table." Then all of a sudden or second near by "reserved table" that we were offered coming in was filled with 6 party women who proceeded to be loud and quite literally speak about alcohol, and ordering alcohol their entire conversation. I wouldn't necessarily have to know that but it was impossible to not hear every word of THEIR conversation. And shocker of all shockers, they had the same waiter as us and I got to watch him shuffle back and forth for their every excessive request. Once it was clear that our service had come to a schreeching halt, I wasn't about to ask for the mocktail I would've wanted with my entree, or a dessert we intended to split. I will say the polenta appetizer was good, the gorgonzola cream sauce was a nice touch but that's easily made at home and replicated. It's Alfredo sauce with gongonzola in it - not exactly ground breaking. My husband ordered the chicken Parm, the crust was utterly flavorless and I ordered the picatta and had to hack into it with my steak knife. That's pretty unheard for that dish. Very disappointed. I live in Texas and have been to their "sister restaurant" La Traviata a few times and it's exceedingly better. What really gets me is how much effort I put in to express my needs for the evening via email with a manager, was given assurances and it was all a waste. We should've gone somewhere else. read more

Food was very good. However, the service was disappointing. The gentleman who seated us was unfriendly to borderline rude. We felt he was doing us a favor by allowing us to dine at the restaurant. The service was slow. We were ignored for the first 10 minutes after being seated. Plenty of service folks walking past our table, just didn't acknowledge that we were sitting there with no menus or water. This restaurant was an old home. Still managed to keep the floor plan open, and tables far enough apart for a feeling of privacy. We were wanting some pasta while visiting Santa Fe and this place exceeded our expectations since Santa Fe isn't really known for its Italian restaurants. The whole table said their meals were really delicious. We ordered the Chicken Piccata and my friend said it was one of the best she had. I ordered the Alfredo with chicken and the chicken was the best part of it and the sauce wasn't too heavy. And my other friend ordered the Chicken Parm but said it wasn't very flavorful and wouldn't order it again. This probably isn't the most inviting place for children in the evening and families over 4 people may have a hard time being comfortable since it's a pretty small place. If you're looking for some reliable and good pasta, I'd say this is your place in Santa Fe. read more

We liked this restaurant and the food we were served, but we just didn't love it. It's a comfortable setting, minimalist but attractive furnishings and lighting. Our server, Justin, was agreeable and efficient. We split a mixed baby greens salad, which was very nice, and then for our entrees both my wife and I had the spaghetti with olive oil, garlic, arugula, and shrimp. Mine was quite good, however my wife requires GF pasta and the very thin, unsubstantial Asian rice noodles just totally missed. With all the excellent GF pasta options out there, I can't for the life of me understand Andiamo, an Italian restaurant, choosing this one to serve. We had a very nice and reasonably priced Dolcetto with our meal and excellent raspberry gelato for dessert. Our tab was $150 after tip. read more

We ordered wine and bread quickly., also daily salad special of Caprese. The caprese was excellent. The bread never came and the wine took 25 minutes, arriving halfway through our salads. I ordered the special, which was an Alfredo with pesto and chicken. The Alfredo sauce was only oil , as far as I could tell, with some pesto. No cream component. The free gluten free noodles seemed liked Asian glass noodles, not what I would expect with Alfredo. We felt ignored. Everything took forever. Giving 3 stars is being generous. read more

Delicious, nice ambiance, quiet, great service! The calamari appetizer might have been the best I've ever tried. The power went out a couple of minutes after we ordered our dinner. The servers came over right away to apologize and place a table light before us. It lent a candlelit atmosphere that allowed us to continue to chat and enjoy our drinks. Later, our food came out (gas cooking, perhaps??), which was tasty. As we were preparing to leave about 9:30pm (the kitchen was supposed to close at 8, but they never rushed us), the lights came back on. The whole evening just seemed magical. The last time I ate worse Italian food was in 2014 in Iran, which was admittedly ill-advised. My friend ordered a duck leg, which was totally dry. She sent it back and ordered a pasta dish instead. It was tasteless. I ordered chicken parmigiana, which came with pasta. My pasta was only lukewarm and I had it reheated. The pasta came back hot but tasteless and the chicken itself was more or less inedible since the chicken was sliced so thin that it was extremely dry. We both left most of our meals on the table. A very disappointing experience. This used to be a pretty good restaurant. But I had not been here for quite a while and it has gone way downhill. I was told by the manager that they have had the same chef for a long time so perhaps it is a question of saving money on ingredients because times are tough? read more

I should have known that when the soup special is "Lentil with veggies" and the special entree is "Scottish salmon with lentils and veggies" that the salmon entree would be a piece of salmon plopped in the middle of a bowl of lentil soup!... "Ohhh, that's why you asked us for a soup spoon!", the waitress said... Now, I have had this dish many times before at Andiamo. It's always as it should be--a plate with a nice piece of clean, grilled salmon over a bed of lentils with sauteed greens, not a bland piece of fish swimming in a bowl of thin lentil soup! "Well, our chef tonight must have been trying to make her mark." the hard-working waitress responded. I burst out laughing. "Well, at least we made you laugh!" she said. Indeed.
