If you're looking for an iconic dish of spaghetti and meatballs; look no further, as you've found your place!!! After a long Friday afternoon workout atvtge gym; I was in the mood for a nutritious pasta dish, so I did my research via Door Dash and found a new location that I hadn't tried before in Piazza Caffe. After I browsed their menu, I looked at their full menu and reviews on the Door Dash App. The reviews I read weren't the greatest involving spaghetti or meatballs, which are sold separately. But hungry and sticking to my personal craving of choice, I thought, "my pallet differs from everyone else's, so why not give it try?" Afterall, having already experienced every other restaurant's spaghetti dish in town, and I wasn't overly thrilledvwith any of them, I chose to give Piazza Caffe a shot. I decided on their spaghetti dish, while ordering their meatball dish as well and order two meatballs. Within the hour, my Dasher was at my residence, as the dishes were both boxed well and still warm, to my delight! The presentation was extraordinary, with a green leaf of fresh basil atop melted mozzarella cheese and a gracious serving of tomato and meat sauce (marinara) to complete the dish. In the other box were two well put together meatballs that kept their round shape, as my fork cut through them. Then, to top it off there were two thick slices of warm forcaccia bread in tinfoil, along with a bag of seven thin bread sticks. Overall, my meal was perfect, exquisitely prepared in it's own right, with a taste loke it was made and prepared from a loving grandma, with well enough thick sauce, to where you didn't have to ask for extra. That was the icing on the cake for me, as everyone else in town that makes this dish, skimps on the ingredients. So if you're in search of the best Italian spaghetti and meatballs Dinner in town, look no further! Splurge and get both dshes and you won't be surprised-as I'll put my name on it. My personal kudos and compliments to the Chef, for making a beautifully tasting dish, albeit even on Door Dash. A great place for dinner. We weren't sure where we were going to be New Year's Eve. We planned to go to the square for the big party and food trucks, but thought bundling up to fight the crowds to eat outdoors in the 30 degree temperatures really wasn't our style. We ate at Plaza Cafe for lunch and saw this table stand advert for a peas and prosciutto salad and my wife said that's where we need to eat. No room at the Inn (or restaurant) for a table New Year's Eve so we sat at the bar and had a great time served by Draven and talking with several patrons. Oh wait, you want to hear about the food. I had a great Caesar to start with and my wife had...Prosciutto and Pea Salad. Very good. Just wish the dressing was a little less sweet. We chose the mushroom and prosciutto pizza for our entree. The dough is light and crispy. Grateful to have a meal that didn't leave me bloated. We had a chance to talk to the owner (from Italy) and you could see the passion he had to open this Italian restaurant in Sante Fe. If you only eat in the square you will miss this gem. We tried this for a second time. The first time we thought it was so so but it had just opened. The second time was a bell ringer!! We first had a tiramisu espresso martini. It tasted just like the dessert and was refreshing too. Then we tried the Caesar salad which has lots of Parmesan cheese. We also tried the Mortadella Buratta Plate with olives and pistachio nuts. I loved this dish so much. What really topped it off was the basil olive oil. I'll be dreaming of this dish. It was one of my favorites in Rome and this dish made me feel like I was back in Italy. The last dish we tried was a dish of homemade ravioli filled with pork and beef topped with a meat ragu. It was delicious. I think when I go back I'll order the same thing as I want to repeat this experience. Yum!!!! We were too full for desert but they brought out little almond cookies and candied nuts which were also amazing. I think this will be our favorite Italian restaurant now. We ate here with 14 members of the Santa Fe Foodies, the first time for my wife and me. The food ranged from good but not spectacular to unremarkable. My wife and I split the Black Cod Livornese, which came with Broccolini instead of the potatoes the menu indicated. The cod was nice and well-cooked, but the broccolini was tough and a bit rubbery. The sauce for the fish was stewed cherry tomatoes, wine, garlic, capers, and olives, and it was nice, if not a tad bland. We split a large Caesar salad, and it was really bland. The romaine was nice and fresh, but the dressing? If it had anchovy or garlic anywhere, we missed it. Quite unremarkable in flavor. We finished with the Tiramisu, which was nice, but hardly the best in class for Santa Fe. Lovely to look at, again. If there were liqueurs like rum or Marsala wine, everything would have been a bit overpowered by the unsweetened cocoa powder. Certainly not bad, but nothing special. Now the service was outstanding! Our server, Jose M, did a fantastic job serving the 14 of us. All the food arrived at once, all as requested. Excited to try this newest restaurant in Santa Fe. It replaced Rustica which started out great but went downhill with poor service and food. So this has to be great, right? Not so. We were a good size group. About half were satisfied with their order but the other half not so. A noodle dish was very dry, when asked for sauce, ground beef was brought instead. The dry dish was given back. The Prosciutto salad had very long slices of prosciutto which were hard to slice in an oil based salad making it difficult to eat. Not a lot to choose from. Service was slow. Long breadsticks were salty but tasty while we waited to order then waited for our food. Not sure we want to return. Perhaps shaking out the kinks will help. I have seen some of the negative reviews posted and I can only offer the explanation that those MUST have been simple growing pains for a new restaurant. We had a WONDEFUL experience and I am hard to please. My wife, who studied in Italy and craves the authentic cuisine and fresh made pasta really insisted we give them a try. I was VERY pleasantly surprised. We started with cocktails, a couple of different Negroni variations (the menu has an entire list of wonderful, authentic and imaginative spins on this classic cocktail). We followed with one of the better Caesar Salads I can remember eating. The dressing was anchovy forward in a very good way, with delicate piles of Parmesan on top and house made croutons. Our server was nervous at first, greeting our table with a shy, "you have made decisions?" but quickly grew personable and friendly, joking with my wife and I by the end. He could maybe use a little more training, but honestly, I loved him. He is going to be great with more experience. My wife loved her Cacio e Pepe, a simple but subtly complex dish that is hard to pull off well. The kitchen clearly knows what they are doing. The fresh, handmade Pasta and simple but perfectly chosen ingredients made this dish. My Eggplant Parmigiana was delicious, arriving in a molten hot serving dish covered lightly in glorious melted cheese. I'm very picky about the preparation of eggplant and clearly the kitchen is as well. It was very rich, so I got full about halfway through. It could have maybe used a side of pasta to cut the richness. Otherwise, perfection. If you remember Rustica, you know the ambiance is a kind of professional casual. Wooden table tops and tiled floors keep this a more family style affair, though if they'd wanted to, they could have chosen to go even higher end with white table clothes, the food is that good. I'm glad they kept it family casual and friendly. The landscaping is even gorgeous with the roses and other flowers all in full bloom. Do not sleep on this place! The negative reviews were very early on and I can understand them. It is hard to realize a full vision, but Piazza has one and they seem to really be hitting their stride. read more

They have started seasonal dinner specials that are a step up! Things like pumpkin ravioli, risotto, and a "beef stew" that is a wonderful slow cooked chunk of beef on mashed potatoes with a red wine sauce. While they do have an awesome lineup of thin crust pizzas, this a true Italian restaurant. It is not an American North East Italian place. More of a Tuscan style. Worth the visit. read more

Don't listen to the bad reviews! Each dish tastes homemade and upscale at the same time. The use of premium ingredients is noticeable, the cocktails are excellent (not cloyingly sweet or watered down), and the service is exceptional (shoutout to Divina for her wonderful food and wine suggestions!). The renovations to the interior are tasteful and make for a comfortable and welcoming dining experience. LOVE the new mural which nods to the Old World style of food Piazza Cafe excels at serving. I also have to mention that the portion sizes are quite generous, even for big eaters, and the prices are supremely fair for the quality of ingredients and portion sizes. I could eat the prosciutto and pea salad every day of my life. The carbonara pasta AND pizza should absolutely not be slept on! One of the crazier bites in Santa Fe. I really wanted to like it. Calamari was good minus the sauce that was way too thick. Got regular spaghetti with meatballs (14 upcharge for meatballs) and it was inedible. I tried to take home and add some cheese but its bitter and meatballs and so fatty. I do want to say our server, I believe her name is Davinity or Divina, was amazing. Very attentive, very friendly, and super knowledgeable about the menu. I was very disappointed spending 50 bucks. What a welcome addition to southern Santa Fe! If you're looking for an American version of Italian food, this restaurant may not be your preference. It has an authentic Italian menu. The spaghetti pomodoro, pork Milanese with roasted potatoes, and green salad take me back to a recent trip to Tuscany. I also tried their brunch menu on the outdoor patio one morning and the bacon fritatta and French toast were a breath of fresh air compared to the standard breakfast fare up and down Cerrillos Rd. My MIL got the lasagna and it was very greasy. The rigatoni is basic and the pesto dish, just not good. My husband wanted to add some chicken to his dish, and the best they could do was add a kids meal (breaded chicken), tots and all! The kids pizza was a bit soggy and not great. I went there the first week of opening and I ordered the Lasagna and it was a very small, dry portion and I asked for additional sauce which didn't really help and I had the Caesar Salad which had so much Parmesan Cheese on top I thought it was a snow cone and the server was obviously new and I'm sure she's doing better now. A group of us went to Piazza Caffe, not really knowing what to expect, I was nervous because I invited my stuck up foodie friends and hoped for the best. First we started with some delicious cocktails at the bar, they have the best Negroni list in town. Including a non alcoholic drink called a Phony Negroni, perfect for our designated driver. We then were sat at this huge luxurious round booth that could easily sit 10 people, right off the bat my friends were in love with the (Vibe) as one of my girlfriends put it, I knew I had done well choosing this restaurant. We ordered a an amazing Montepulciano for under 50 dollars, unheard of in most restaurants, along with with the most tender calamari I've ever had, meatballs that seemed like they were simmering on low for hours (delish) and a charcuterie plate to die for. We had a couple of pizzas, both crispy paper thin crusts, one was pepperoni and the other was mushrooms and prosciutto, alongside an amazing pesto pasta in the shape of a roosters crest. Everything was to die for, the service was impeccable and filled with smiles, from the greeting at the door, to the visit from the owners, to our departure. Everything was on point. I must mention we had 3 scrumptious desserts, one was a flourless chocolate almond cake, torta de La Nonna ( puff pastry pie shell filled with pastry cream and lemon zest, and Pepperoni de chocolate ( wafers from heaven with chocolate ganache) I'm sorry but this one of my most memorable dining experiences in a long time. We were visiting friends in Santa Fe and they took us to Piazza Caffe for dinner on a Friday evening. Big disappointment. From the start, the calamari was limp and bland and the eggplant parmigiana was dry. One of the entree included potatoes, but they were out of potatoes! Who runs out of potatoes? Our wine selection - "sorry, we're out of that, try this instead". And we're out of two of the three gelatos. Our server was generally attentive, but way too theatrical and familiar for my taste.
