Stopped by for the first time for breakfast on a Saturday and got seated right away. Ordered steak and eggs, biscuits and gravy, French toast, and the special Mexican breakfast. Everything was great. Food came out in about 20 minutes and everything looked great. Coffee is average but everything else gave diner quality. Very great. Chili was not spicy but very flavorful. As a native of the Espanola Valley, I was happy to hear that another New Mexican restaurant was taking over the former Angelina's location since it closed during COVID. My mother had tried this place for the first time last month and really enjoyed it, so while visiting my hometown this past weekend, I told her I wanted to try it as well, and so glad I did! I was a little apprehensive to go any later than 1pm (closes at 3pm) as I don't like to patronize any restaurant so close to quittin' time in order to not feel rushed; however, although it was fairly busy, we were seated promptly and our food came out quickly! Speaking of food, our meal was great and portioned perfectly (not too big, not too small). My go to is usually a stuffed sopaipilla with ground beef or just beans and cheese; however, I decided to try the two tamale plate and was not disappointed! I chose red chile and it was spicy and flavorful and the tamales weren't dry at all. My mom ordered the flautas plate and they were HUGE as she could only eat 1.5 (I ate the remainder at home lol). My bestie wasn't in the mood for NM food so he ordered breakfast (chicken fried steak and eggs) and said it was very good. The complimentary sopaipillas were the BEST! I even complimented our server Javier (whom my mom pointed out used to be the mayor of Espanola) that they were spot on! As for service, it was excellent, and as I noted above, Javier (owner) was awesome! Very friendly, personable, efficient, with a sense of humor. Will definitely be my "go to" native NM restaurant when visiting back home. read more

This is a great new location to have dinner or lunch. Looks like there's a breakfast menu as well. Today was a hit and miss my food was cold, but the food was good. Staff was friendly. The place is clean. It's a nice new refreshing place for local to eat highly recommend you give them a shot I'm sure with them having an influx of customers and getting in the groove of a new restaurant had something to do with my food being cold I'll still come back give them a second chance think it was delicious highly recommend. read more

The place has a great atmosphere, but that's it. I ordered a steak and I thought for sure I would get a baked potato with it, but they don't have baked potatoes. The food was basically ho hum. The staff needs to be better trained. I had to send him back twice to get things that are listed on the menu that your supposed to get. Never did get any butter for my biscuit. What a great experience, the food was phenomenal and the service was even better. Driving up we were quite sure what to expect and were greeted with a clean and bright facility. Walking in we felt like family and then the food came out and you got even better. I would highly suggest frequently going to Apple Valley. read more

Stopped in for dinner not expecting much since it did not have a Spanish name. They had a special on breakfast enchiladas. OMG. Delicious! My wife and I both ordered Christmas chile. The red was what red chile is supposed to taste like, and the green might have been even better. The beans were awesome. Overall it was fantastic. I've had breakfast there twice now. I had the same experience with the bathroom smell as you walked in the first time. Place has been remodeled, clean and open. Staff attentive and friendly. Food is good however, the chicken fried steak seemed to be pre-made and reminded me of something you would warm up like a frozen dinner. Side of green chili was really good. read more

It's a very new and clean restaurant. But when we first walked in, you can smelled the restroom. The service is wonderful. The server is very attentive and sweet. I ordered steak and eggs. I love the potatoes but not the steak. The steak is very dry and tasted not fresh. I should know better to not order steak in a Mexican restaurant. My girlfriend's Javier breakfast is very good. So far so good. Red chile is good, sopaipillas are good. Service was very friendly. Our food was pretty slow to come out though and the cheese on my stuffed sopaipilla was kind of burnt and congealed into one big hard lump. Hopefully they'll work out some kinks. The salads looked really good, I'll try that next time. read more
