First time visiting this restaurant. They sat our party of four and were immediately served our drinks which were tea and water. This place is very open and decorated simple. Plenty of parking outside the restaurant which is not always the case in Santa Fe. I ordered the fish and fries. These were made just the way I like them, with cod and plenty of tartar sauce to dip your fish into. These were by far some of the best I have had in a long time. My friends ordered the Cobb salad and the shrimp salad. It all looked great with plenty to take half home. We were there for lunch but I hear dinner is really good as well. I really wanted to like this place, but alas, the food was so-so/average, and the service was less than stellar. I dined with my wife and 10 others at a large table during the Santa Fe Foodies meet-up. I tried the BLUE CORN ENCHILADA CASSEROLE with chicken and Red/Green Chile (Christmas). Added an egg. The green chile was somewhat flavorless, while the red was better, with nice heat, but far from the best in town (IMHO, thus far, Café Castros). The chicken was nice, as was the garnish of lettuce, tomato, onion, cilantro, and sour cream. But for $22, I was underwhelmed. My wife and four others had the special, which was Eggplant Parmesan. It was okay, but again, nothing special, and the 'garlic' bread lacked both garlic and flavor. This dish came with a salad; the server never asked what anyone wanted for a dressing, instead providing different salad dressings to other people. The service was subpar; the servers didn't know who ordered what, even though all the food arrived at the same time, which can be challenging for a table this big. We were presented with our checks without being offered dessert. No one recalled being asked if we were pleased with the food. The restaurant is rather loud, and the wooden chairs lacking cushions are rather uncomfortable. The food and service weren't bad, but it wasn't such that I'd be inclined to return, considering there are so many other, better options in this foodie town. It is nice that the restaurant has ample parking in this part of town. All in all, underwhelming, average, three stars. read more

I've eaten there three times and everything we've had has been delicious! I'm a breakfast gal, hands down favorite meal of the day. Santa Fe has so many fabulous French bakeries, which I enjoyed for a couple years as my breakfast spot. After reading the reviews in the Santa Fe foodies on Facebook, I thought I'd give Café Catron a try and I'm sure glad. Don't get me wrong, I love pastries and they're pretty fabulous here in Santa Fe, but I like a breakfast that's going to keep me satisfied well into the afternoon. I love going during the weekday for breakfast when it's a little quieter, the weekends can get pretty busy. My favorite item on their menu is the Southwestern Eggs Benedict. There are so many layers of flavor to this dish. It does have some heat to it, which I enjoy. It's also very filling. I usually end up, taking half of it home and reheating it in the toaster oven for lunch and it taste just as good The second time around. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Very nice place, I remember the property as a bagel place, a few renditions later it became a cool cafe. Open industrial vibe with finesse, clean lines and very comfortable. Just a 10-15 minute walk from the plaza close but just far enough. Staff were welcoming and sincere, menu was a mix of SF favorites alongside many that you would recognize. I enjoyed the eggs Benedict with a side of green chili and a cup of Joe. All done really well would definitely come back to try the other offerings. read more

Had lunch here on Saturday with a group of six. Sat on patio in lovely shade with lots of native greenery/trees around us. Food was delicious and service was very attentive! I had the burrito with carne adovada and Christmas sauce; I couldn't decide which sauce was better bc both were excellent. Friends had the burger, margarita chicken bowl, and fish tacos. But now they serve dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 8:00. The room is cozy with added mood lighting and the menu is just what Santa Fe needs- a reasonably priced, varied menu for a comfortable night out. Our group tried the excellent cerviche, abundant nachos, a great hamburger, the tasty pasta dish and the delicious surf and turf special. They offer several nice wines as well! Visited Café Catron last night. They just recently began serving dinner in this beautifully restored old Ford Dealership building. I ordered the pork chop dinner. It was five stars, especially considering the wonderful butternut squash purée and artichoke hearts sides. The dining room is nicely appointed and the service was super attentive. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. To add to the appeal of the restaurant are the charming owners that check in to make sure everything is as expected. I highly recommend this restaurant for dinner on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Last of all, the pricing is well below Santa Fe norms! I had a ham and cheese on sourdough today. It looked like I got more than my share of babe, cause that sandwich was just overflowing with yummy yummy pork. The sourdough was toasted just right, and the tomato and lettuce were nice and fresh. When this was New York Deli, it was among our favorite breakfast spots in Santa Fe. A few weeks ago, my wife took me there for Eggs Benedict for Father's Day (a tradition in our family). As sparse as the patrons were, it was nearly 15 minutes before anyone took our orders. My Eggs Benedict were great, but we were charged $3.50 (!) for a cup of coffee! Every meal comes with "breakfast potatoes." NY Deli was always willing to trade their cheap fried potatoes for a small fruit cup. (I should mention that I worked as a dinner cook in much better places than this!) Those days are history. Cafe Catron charges an extra $1.50 to replace their cheap fried potatoes for a small cup of fruit! Not only did we wait 15 minutes to be waited on... we waited nearly 30 minutes for our bill... This was on 6/13/23 when the "restaurant" wasn't even half-filled! My wife and I agreed. With more than 400 restaurants in Santa Fe, "Cafe Catron" is permanently off our list. read more

This place is constantly good for both breakfast and lunch. The staff treats you like family. The owner can often be found greeting diners. I'm so glad they survived the pandemic shutdown - even with new ownership. I've been going here for years and will continue to go. Btw - their Huevos Rancheros are some of the best in town. Being a New Yorker by birth, whenever I travel around the country, I look for some cafe or restaurant the feature a little bit of New York on the menu. The bagels are it for me. Perfection! Only a New Yorker would recognize the taste that a true bagel presents to your throat, seriously. Bagels are a true "back of the mouth" food that makes room for a shmear of Philadelphia Brand Cream Cheese to hit the front of your mouth. Well done New York on Catron, well done. read more

I've been here only twice since the name change from The New York Deli north. The only reason I came to Cafe Catron this second time is because one of my friends likes it. The three star review is based on restaurants in Santa Fe. Santa Fe seems to still be suffering from the post covid scamdemic event more than most places due the majority being very liberal and many still seem to be afraid. Compared to many other places outside of Santa Fe, I'd likely give it 2 stars. I give them a 1 star for value. The food portions are relatively small and the prices are relatively high even with the post covid hyper inflation. I didn't bring my camera phone into the deli or I would have posted an image of my meal. Most of the images posted here are from Cafe Catron and don't fairly represent what you actually get or what I actually got. The food is average quality and gets an a-ok 3 star. Service gets a three star. The servers are nice but both times we ate here, they didn't get my order right. I even told my server the problem I had the last time I ate there and still they messed up my order. I don't eat dairy. If you order straight off the menu and don't make any modifications, you'll likely be fine. If I do ever go back it's only because one of my friends still likes it. Honestly, I'm going out to eat much less than I used to because prices have gotten so high and quality has gone down. read more
