    Breakfast!!
    James T.

We had a wonderful breakfast there. Hidden off Cerrillos, but worth the time to get there. Large dining area, ample parking. Delightful help and the pastries like no other.

When you walk in the only thing you see are empty cases with no pastries at 9 am. The front doors were open and a food delivery truck was outside so our dining experience was accompanied by the sound of an eighteen wheeler with its engines running. The open doors also brought in flies that circled our table while we were there. Hubs ordered the eggs Benedict with a side of crispy bacon and I ordered a salad with beets, goat cheese and a lime vinaigrette. Hubs said eggs Benedict was tangy not creamy tasty and huffed at salad that was the side. Prices are high. It was $4 for two pieces of bacon. Our bill was $46 before tip. My salad was good. Not great. Goat cheese was two fried goat cheese wheels and beets were large pieces both purple and yellow and salad also had feta which was weird. I ordered hot tea and received no lemon, no honey and limited selections. I think there might be better breakfast options. I would skip this one if you visiting from out of town. If you are local I'm sure you are aware of the shortcomings.

Excellent menu, pleasant ambiance, good service and convenient location. French Onion soup and Smoked Salmon salad are my lunch favorites.

But I was wrong! I emailed to ask and Marcel told me not to worry. The galette Bretonne is made from buckwheat and several of the lunch entrees are also gluten-free. Huzzah! We split the galette Bretonne - a buckwheat crepe filled with ham and cheese and topped with a sunny side up egg. Savory and delicious! Next, we split the cassoulet - a duck confit leg quarter, Toulouse sausage, pork belly, and carrots nestled into a bed of white beans and herbs with a side of sourdough and French butter. Oh my word, it was fabulous! And I didn't have to share the sourdough, mwaaaahahahaha!

The place is popular, especially given very high quality of pastry products and the line is often a bit long (given so many locals/tourists stop by this place)...and simply..the place is one of the best pastry shops in Santa Fe. Parking is a little limited in their own parking lot and the shop is sort of crowded, but you can always park on a street outside (albeit some small parking fees). Overall, I really enjoyed the pastries here...although I think the drink (I got matcha latte...true, true, matcha latte isn't much of a western drink..so maybe I'm wrong to judge a restaurant by this drink) wasn't so much of my highlights. I would, definitely recommend this place for pastries for sure though!

The staff and customers were friendly. Keep in mind there are only 2 parking spots, but Santa Fe is a walkable area. We could have walked from our Hilton Villa had we not been on our way. We ordered the sesame bagel, toasted, with Green Chile cream cheese (what else in Santa Fe? Had to try), a couple of cheese danish and two lattes rounded out the order. Bagel had good crumb and chew. Nicely rendered NY bagel at altitude. Impressive! The bagel could have benefited from a little oil or butter to conduct heat during griddle toasting and help crispiness of toasted surface. The green chile cream cheese was a nice addition. The danish were perfectly flaky and tender. Amazing texture and flavor. Easily some of the best pastries we've had...anywhere. Nicely rendered lattes were tasty. This place was within walking distance from the historic Hilton hotel. Was good enough that we went the next morning. Give it a try!
