This is a must do in Santa Fe. Amazing selection of freshly made breads and baked goods, plus a well-curated mini market. I loved the savory scone but everything my family tried was delicious! Very friendly and welcoming staff. The coffee drinks were great and are served in ceramic mugs that are made by the potter who has her own business next door. If I lived in Santa Fe, I would absolutely be a regular.

A person holds a small ceramic bowl with a partially eaten bread roll, set on a small plate, near a window with sunlight.

You CANNOT miss Bread Shop when in Santa Fe. They have the best breads, (perfect at home throughout the week) and truly the best brownie I've ever had. The focaccia is also a must. Basically, get the whole menu. The indoor and outdoor seating space is awesome and everyone working is cheery and helpful. Be sure to get a coffee and stay for a while!!

Olive focaccia - A piece of focaccia bread with black olives on top, served on a white plate with olive oil drizzled around it, placed on a wooden table.

Deliciously dangerous--I've never had a bad carb here. Sandwiches are not only delicious but also quite substantial.

Service is pretty snotty, mark-up on "market" items is nearly comical, and the breads and treats are only OK. Faaaar better bakeries in SF.

This shop may have the best bread in Santa Fe. Worth the trip. Dip it in some olive oil, or spread some creamy butter on it.

But I was wrong! I emailed to ask and Marcel told me not to worry. The galette Bretonne is made from buckwheat and several of the lunch entrees are also gluten-free. Huzzah! We split the galette Bretonne - a buckwheat crepe filled with ham and cheese and topped with a sunny side up egg. Savory and delicious! Next, we split the cassoulet - a duck confit leg quarter, Toulouse sausage, pork belly, and carrots nestled into a bed of white beans and herbs with a side of sourdough and French butter. Oh my word, it was fabulous! And I didn't have to share the sourdough, mwaaaahahahaha!

The place is popular, especially given very high quality of pastry products and the line is often a bit long (given so many locals/tourists stop by this place)...and simply..the place is one of the best pastry shops in Santa Fe. Parking is a little limited in their own parking lot and the shop is sort of crowded, but you can always park on a street outside (albeit some small parking fees). Overall, I really enjoyed the pastries here...although I think the drink (I got matcha latte...true, true, matcha latte isn't much of a western drink..so maybe I'm wrong to judge a restaurant by this drink) wasn't so much of my highlights. I would, definitely recommend this place for pastries for sure though!

We ordered the sesame bagel, toasted, with Green Chile cream cheese (what else in Santa Fe? Had to try), a couple of cheese danish and two lattes rounded out the order. Bagel had good crumb and chew. Nicely rendered NY bagel at altitude. Impressive! The bagel could have benefited from a little oil or butter to conduct heat during griddle toasting and help crispiness of toasted surface. The green chile cream cheese was a nice addition. The danish were perfectly flaky and tender. Amazing texture and flavor. Easily some of the best pastries we've had...anywhere. Nicely rendered lattes were tasty. This place was within walking distance from the historic Hilton hotel. Was good enough that we went the next morning. Give it a try!
