    Rosemary Infused Creme Brûlée
    Teri M.

I was looking for a place with a nice vibe and more upscale cuisine than average as I wanted to place to treat myself dining alone. I didn't think Los Alamos had very much to offer in that regard so I found myself at Blue Window. The ambience was exactly what I had hoped for. It was vibrant and simultaneously casual and sophisticated. I felt comfortable at my table and I thought the actual blue window decor was whimsical and well done. The lighting was just right and I would think this is a nice place to go out for a special occasion as well as a nice lunch by yourself. I was there for the dinner menu and decided to try the Play on Beef Wellington appetizer and see how I felt after that. I was not rushed to order any entrees and was able to hang out with my unsweetened iced tea as I decided whether or not I would need any more food. The app was pretty tasty. They were small-ish and I can't imagine having to share this with anyone. I ate them all! I was still hungry though, and felt I'd had enough red meat, so I ordered the Mediterranean Seafood Pasta. The scallops were huge and cooked perfectly as well as the shrimp. Delicious. The sauce on the pasta was pretty tasty, with a tanginess lent no doubt from the capers, however after some time I started to tire of the sauce's rich flavor and started to feel a little rough. Perhaps it's simply just my constitution that day, but while the seafood was perfect, the sauce ended up being a little too overwhelming in the end. For dessert, they had a little menu on the table with the options. I decided I couldn't resist trying the Rosemary Infused Creme Brûlée, as I'm a sucker for rosemary. It was FANTASTIC. It came with berries, which traditionally is the perfect refreshment for the creamy confection, and the rosemary was prevalent. I was very happy. All in all, I would definitely go back and try more things on the menu if I'm ever in town again. I was eyeing the beet salad, artichoke dip, and bison burger. Some of the entrees initially sounded good at first glance, but they seem to want to include bacon in most of their steak dishes and I wasn't really feeling it.

On Dec. 29, 2025, we walked into the Blue Windows Bistro wanting a delicious meal but saw that there were 20 people waiting so we didn't have much hope. Surprise! We were seated within 5 minutes, because they had a 2-top available. It seems that everyone else had large parties. Our waiter was friendly, and quick. We made sure to order as soon as he came to the table so that we weren't holding on to the table longer than necessary on a busy night. My partner ordered the filet mignon special. I believe it was wrapped in bacon with a lobster béarnaise sauce. Sides were potatoes and broccoli. He devoured it. I ordered the salmon special. it came with a side of Mashed potatoes and broccolini. Everything was delicious! The restaurant was packed, but tables were spaced out so that you were not sitting on top of each other. Lots of windows. great atmosphere. We also ordered bread to begin with. the bread was small but tasty. I definitely recommend this fantastic restaurant in Los Alamos. This was my first time in Los Alamos and I was happy to find such a good restaurant.

Really enjoyed our lunch here! The server was friendly and accommodating, and the food was excellent. Cute little restaurant nearby the historical sites and it was cozy and nice inside. I had the French onion soup and the Greek salad and both were incredibly tasty. We also started with chips and salsa which had a nice smoky flavor. Both my hubby and son had the chicken croissant which they enjoyed and came with homemade fries. Overall we would definitely go back here again if ever in town.

Julie and I found a great meal here. It's in the downtown area and close to everything in this charming, historical town. We started off the evening with cocktails. Julie had a glass of Chardonnay from their small but well thought it wine list. I had a Manhattan from their "alternating styles" list but their bartender will make you anything you like. Julie had scallops with polenta. They were flavorful and delicate. I had the blue corn enchiladas with shredded beef and red chili sauce. They were flavorful and the beef was tender. The dish came with pinto beans. We ended our meal with dessert. Julie opted for a lemon cake and I had a bread pudding with whiskey sauce. It was warm, elegant and delicious. Service was good but they suffer from the perennial shortage of help that seems to haunt this town. But employees were friendly, efficient and helpful. Prices are reasonable and, all in all, we had a very nice experience. We will definitely return when we are in the area.

Delicious food, friendly service, reasonable prices. I still haven't figured out why Los Alamos has such great food, but all the restaurants I've been to here have been stellar. We had wanted to go to Pajaro Brewpub, but it was Monday and they were closed. This place was open, and we were seated after only waiting about 5 minutes. I had the steak frites, which were just what I wanted. The steak was cooked to perfection, anf the frites were really good. Finished it off with a delicious carrot cake.

Stopped in for lunch during the week. The restaurant is well decorated, nicely and staffed by attentive people. The menu has light lunch, salads and sandwiches, entrees as well as desserts. The food was good. The service was great. Overall great experience. Highly recommended.

We stopped by here for lunch before we went to our tour today. Great ambiance, excellent customer service and food were all tasty. Pics show the food we ordered. Very clean, friendly staff, clean bathrooms as well.

It may be a local institution, with portraits of the who's whos of the Manhattan Project lining the hallway. but my lunch of fried calamari and Cuban sandwich I would hardly describe as the bomb. Let's just say I've had better in California and leave it at that. Food aside, my Thursday day trip to Los Alamos from Santa Fe (where I'm attending the opera this week) has been a sobering experience. The Bradley Science Center, the Historic Park, images and statues of Oppenheimer everywhere-- the town is very much still stuck in a time warp of wartime official narrative that the U.S. "reluctantly dropped the bombs in order to hasten the end of WWII". For the NPR expose' on this topic, listen to the August 11 podcast "Looking back at the decision to drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki"

The service was great, the food came to the table very fast. There was a small wait for a table but that just says it is popular. Tons of food options, even for kids. The diner was colorful and cute, great for meeting people.

There were 10 tables occupied around 1:00 and all but 3 tables were eating their food, but we still waited 25 minutes to order after we got our drinks. I had to ask the young man hosting to find our appetizer and waitress after 20 minutes. 3 of us had fries with our entrees and they were soggy, greasy, and so salty that none of us ate them. Our son who loves cheeseburgers said his tasted funny, our daughters chicken nuggets tasted like the fish my wife ordered, and my Rueben was dry and chewy because the meat was reheated on a flattop instead of steamed like it should be. No one in the kitchen seems to have a clue how things should be done in a restaurant. I could go on, but what's the point. The only thing I'll remember about this place was bad food and the $100 we threw in the garbage. If I had the chance to have a redo, I'd go down the street and eat at Sonic, and Sonic sucks.

This was a must stop recommended by many people so we were happy to secure a reservation and dine there. Ambiance was nice, we enjoyed the warm lighting and how it was inside an old historic catholic church. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable as well. I will say- the food was decent but it was nothing extravagant or to write home about like others have mentioned in the past. A lot of items on the menu have like one or two ingredients that I feel throw the dish off, so it was difficult deciding what to get there. We ordered the cornbread, mussels, the trout and the bison when we went for dinner. By far my biggest complaint with the whole experience was the fact that it is a cash only establishment, with no ATM even available on the property. You have to drive beforehand to the closest Allsups and withdraw whatever you feel will be the most for the check plus gratuity. This really limits what you can/can't get on the menu depending on how much cash you bring. I personally do not enjoy feeling limited by that or having to do math at the table in my head to make sure I got enough to cover it all. This also makes people look at the menu beforehand maybe online to get a good idea before driving to said gas station. They say on the website it's because "By forgoing transaction fees, we can better support our employees, serve organic food, and boost our local economy." but in reality I believe it's because they do not want to pay credit card fees and whatnot. Their sister restaurant Manzanita (which we also dined at) was not cash only though which was odd if they are related, so something isn't lining up at The Love Apple. We still had the best time with each others company which matters the most celebrating a special occasion, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to tell everyone that they gotta go there when they are in Taos.

My husband ordered the Guajillo Braised Boneless Short Ribs, which were cooked to perfection--tender, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.
