I love Joseph's! It's a lovely setting with excellent service that you don't get in many restaurants. Things like splitting the salad for you in the kitchen, and served on cool plates. Knowing when to clear and replacing silverware. Don't expect to get in and out quickly-this is a dining experience! This time we started with sharing the pear salad, which was beautiful if overdressed and not terribly flavorful. The lettuce pieces were too big to eat easily. Next the evil Duck Fat Fries! So good it's hard to stop eating them. I then had Chicken Green Chile Posole, which was one of the best I've had. So flavorful, with a kick, and lots of hominy, just the way i like it! Husband had Christmas Tenderloin Stew, which he loved. Again full of flavor and spice. I HIGHLY recommend checking out Joseph's Culinary Pub. The food was absolutely FANTASTIC and like 99.9% of the menu is (or can be made) gluten free. And the ENTIRE dessert menu is gluten free! I came here to say for a birthday dinner celebration. I made reservations through open table app, it was easy you just have to book reservations with a card to hold your reservation. Upon arrival I thought parking would be an issue but super easy the had a nice size parking lot, street parking is also available if it's full. The ambiance is incredible and the service was too notch. Our server was so nice so explained the special for that night and was really knowledgeable about food options and what we wanted. We started with the Duck Fat French Fries and that's a must. Everyone in the restaurant was ordering them for an appetizer and we also order Honey, Yellow Curry & Whole Grain Mustard Glazed Lamb Ribs which was incredible and finger licking good lol. Then we order the Duck Confit Pad Thai which was out of this world and must try which is their best dish. Doe dessert we order the cloud cake. if you like a good dish with a twist, i guarantee you can find something that fits your palate. there are so many innovated flavors. chicken pate is a must have, it's very unique to pair with the cherry, raw peas and apple. that I would never thought of to spread on the pate. the duck fat fries didnt stand out but the polenta fries are very unique with the sauce. on the special menu they had the lamb ribs as appetizer, but the portion is enough for main course. the sauce is a boom with honey, curry and balsamic. Main course duck breast is very juicy. one let down is the pad thai, i'm not sure that's pad thai no matter it's a twist or not, it's way too sweet. they have different types of Negroni on the menu, my favorite is the NM nigroni a bit bitter and not too sweet. the restaurant is nothing fancy, inside a traditional adobe house with expose wooden beams. service was great, our waiter is very attentive. read more

This place is a must try for foodies. While my server didn't provide the level of wam hospitality that I'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber, he was quite attentive through my meal. I would be remiss if I did not say that the busboy and busgirl bringing out my plates were superb and much friendlier than the server. Their famous duck fat fries were spot on loved my lamb lollipop, too. The rabbit bolognese lasagna, not so much: I guess I didn't care too much for the texture and taste of it. Negroni cocktail was spot on and Cloud Cake, their Italian meringue cake, has to rank as not only the best dessert I had in Santa Fe, but the best dessert of 2024 period. read more

I came across rave reviews of Joseph's Culinary Pub online before my recent visit to Santa Fe and knew I had to check it out. The restaurant is about a 15-20 minute walk from the downtown area and easy to find. I was traveling solo and didn't make a reservation in advance, but I would recommend making one if you're dining with someone or have limited time for a possible wait. The atmosphere was extremely welcoming! I had a great conversation with a regular at Joseph's Culinary Pub. He and the bartender highly recommended the Steak Au Poivre. I was tempted to order it, but I was honestly a bit tired of beef after having so much in the days leading up to my visit. I'll definitely have to try the steak next time. Here's what I tried- Manhattan (10/10) Unbelievably smooth! I wish I had asked which brand of whiskey they had used (off menu drink currently). Chicken & Green Chile Tamale (10/10) A little spicy and I admired how fresh all of the ingredients tasted. Duck Confit Pad Thai (10/10) The flavor and texture was great! Worth trying! Butterscotch Pudding (10/10) I live in Chicago, where the dining scene is also top-notch, but I don't think I've ever come across a place that serves butterscotch pudding. We were planning a trip to Santa Fe from FL and researched top rated foodie spots. Joseph's Culinary Pub had a menu "soaked in duck fat". Our table of four was warmly and enthusiastically greeted by our knowledgeable server. Complimentary house potato chips were lightly seasoned in lime salt and served with a small pinch pot of artisan olives. We started with duck fat French fries served with sides of garlic aioli and homemade curried ketchup ($11). The serving was small but flavorful thanks to the subtle duck fat. We also added a plate of duck fat fried polenta logs lying in Gorgonzola dolce and a side of crispy grilled radicchio ($18). They were very good- crisp on the outside and moist inside. Not my favorite but very shareable. For another shared course, the warm grilled ratatouille featured kale, fennel, roasted red peppers, ricotta, eggplant, zucchini and a tomato vinaigrette ($18). Delicious! A table favorite. Two guests had the duck confit pad Thai ($29), moist and tender duck, glazed in hoisin sauce with rice noodles, peanuts, cilantro and charred cabbage. Mild heat. A nice combination of flavors. My entree of spicy beef tenderloin stew ($19) was a bowl of tender beef chunks, potato cubes, spices and onions. The chef's decision to base the stew in a runny gravy was a departure from a thicker stock. Perhaps a serving of bread pieces would have helped soak up the flavors. Another guest expressed disappointment with the Crispy Chicken Breast 'Under a Brick' ($36). Surrounded by a bed of crisp bacon, red onion, fava beans roasted corn and roasted red pepper coulis, the breast was dry. The medley of accompanying ingredients balanced the disappointment. Of the four desserts we shared- orange blossom scented tres leches cake, lemon tart, warm chocolate cake with chantilly cream and butterscotch pudding with caramel sauce- the pudding was on top, followed closely by the tarte. In all, the dining experience was very enjoyable. The place is small but the chef and staff work to give their guests a memorable time. Reservations are recommended. read more

The service is always impeccable. We had dinner with friends and were so comfortable they had to ask us to leave... but we were there for 3 hours so I don't blame them. The food is amazing. They first brought out homemade potato chips which were great with our drinks. We all had salads. The peach salad was yummy and the watermelon salad was really good. We tried the burger which probably is the best in town. I had the Roasted Vegetable Napoleon which is the best thing I've eaten all year. I will forever crave this dish. I think it's the caramelization of the vegetables giving it a rich deep flavor and then the sauce on crispy phyllo all stacked together. So good! Then we shared the cloud cake which is never big enough because my husband inhales it. The caramel sauce on the plate is lick worthy. I didn't go there though but truly wanted to. We went to Joseph's for a nice family meal to celebrate me and my fiancé's engagement. The staff was very friendly and the food was fantastic. We ordered the hamachi and duck fat fries to start. The hamachi is served in bigger pieces than I anticipated but tasted great. For my main I ordered the vegetable enchiladas which was so flavorful. They brought us champagne before dessert and then two candles in our desserts which was sweet. All the staff made our engagement celebration very special. Anybody ever watch that tv show Blossom? You know how Joey was always like, "Whoa!" ????? Yeah. Joseph's Culinary Pub is like whoa! Delicious. I was traveling for work and in the middle of a whole30. From what I can tell the ceviche with plantains was compliant, so I ordered it as an appetizer. Quite frankly, it would've been enough as a main course as long as I had a side salad or some soup. Anyhoo. Delicious! Perfectly balanced and citrusy. I tore it up. The plantains were a bit thicker than I expected, but it was perfect. They didn't fall apart when I scooped a heap of ceviche onto them. We also ordered the fries which were super delicious. The ketchup seemed to be house made and was super yummy. I chose the duck pad Thai for dinner. I know this dish isn't complaint, but whatevs. I ate the duck (lots of delicious crispy bits) and the cabbage and a few of the noodles. I'd definitely order it again. Anyhoo. My crew would highly recommend checking this charming joint out. The coworker enjoyed the carrot ginger soup and the quarter duck with sweet and sour sauce (I might have the wrong kind of sauce). Visiting Santa Fe and wanted to try Joseph's for our Golden Anniversary weekend. It was fantastic. They started by bringing us complimentary Champaign which was a great welcome. We then tried the Chili Relleno and the Chopped Chicken Liver for apps. Being in Santa Fe, we needed to try some SW dishes. It was good with a fluffy and tender coating and a nice chili flavor with delicious cheese but the Chicken Liver was the surprise dish. Served with toasted bread and crackers along with fresh peas and carrot slices and a delicious fig compote. We loved the texture and taste of the liver and I am not usually a fan. The star of the night was the Crispy Lamb Neck served on a bed of Sun Choke Puree with Ginger Yogurt sauce and perfectly cooked brussels sprout leaves. They confit the lamb till it is super tender and crisp it under the salamander. The depth of flavor was outstanding and it was clear they used some of the Lamb jus in making the puree. I would definitely return to Santa Fe just to have that dish again. Excellent atmosphere and the staff was efficient yet friendly including the host who checked in several times. All the locals we spoke to about the dinner had great things to say about Joseph's so include it on your next trip. read more

Pretty spectacular place. We happened to go on restaurant week, which I didn't know and wouldn't recommend. Around 530 on a Sunday, the place was packed, so we came back at 8pm for dessert and lucked out with some bar seats. The stressed-out bartender ended up being very charming and pleasant. We tried the chicken liver mousse and gluten free tres leches. The mousse was phenomenal, but the tres leches I would skip due to the texture, which wasn't for me despite the lovely flavors. (Most of the menu is gluten-free, which is awesome). I wish we had room for more food! I'd go back in a heartbeat. This is our second time to Joseph's. The group decided to share a few entrees since everything in the menu looks so amazing. We couldn't pass the duck pad thai (it's just so good), so we ordered that plus the weekly special (seared sushi grade blue fin tuna) and the pan seared duck breast. I was debating between the duck pad Thai and the duck breast last time, but went with the noodle dish thinking I would get duck in either but the noodle dish sounds more flavorful. But I was so wrong about the pan seared duck breast - it's seared perfectly! Crispy on the skin, just the right amount of duck fat, and tender meat. I grew up eating a lot of duck dishes - getting this perfect balance in texture is not an easy task! Plus, the dish does not taste greasy at all even with the duck fat under the skin. It's so beautifully done! Oh yes - the rice is so delicious. Joseph's is one of my favorites in town - next time I go, I'll be back to the starting point - debating whether I should get the duck breast or the duck pad Thai! read more

We were fortunate to be able to get a last minute reservation at Joseph's and everything about our dinner was perfection. From the manager who greeted us, to our server who was engaging and helpful, to the bus person who was totally on top of every detail ... and we haven't even talked about the food yet. We started with the tamale, which was crisp and flavorful to perfection, then the deconstructed roasted ratatouille, which was otherworldly (and the portion is huge and easy to share) and then the duck pad Thai ... so inventive (and also generously sized. We had to try the butterscotch pudding and it was worth the hype and couldn't say no to a scoop of duck fat caramel ice cream (OMG). Joseph came out to chat with us and we felt like family. I love that so much is gluten free (for my GF and celiac friends), and thought the value for this level of quality and service exceeded expectations. Delicious food and perfect service! The food was perfection and the staff was all very friendly. I really enjoyed the menu I don't think there is a single dish you could order here and not love. You just might love some more depending on your mood and taste. I think one of the head waiters is married to the manager anyway both were very sweet and know their stuff and it shows. I could have not asked for a more perfect meal after a day looking at museums with my mother. I think my mother thought the lemon tart could be sweeter, but I tend to like things less sweet and preferred it that way. That's the only critique I can dig up. I hope to come back again! read more

Some clients brought me here to dinner as this is their favorite place in Santa Fe for a casual yet sophisticated pub meal. They managed to get bar seating at the last minute for opening time, and their favorite tender was serving which made it more fun to meet locals. A robust menu for food and drinks, with great wines by the glass on offer. The food was absolutely fantastic. Started with Duck Fat Fries and Polenta Fries. The polenta fries come in four huge pieces surrounding grilled radicchio drizzled with Gorgonzola - must eat with fork and knife. Amazing! Then the French fries cooked in duck fat were quite easily the tastiest fries you'll ever have. For the main all of us had the NM Lamb Burger with green chiles and goat cheese. Honest to god I thought I died after biting into it - the most mouth watering, juicy burger I've ever had anywhere. I wanted to order a second one, and might go back again on this trip to have it again. There are many great choices so I see why these locals come here so often. Since it was the weekend, we had a trio of deserts. The butterscotch pudding is the fan favorite, super rich and best if shared since you'll only want a couple of bites unless you plan to drop down on both knees and beg Heavenly Father for forgiveness.... The other two we tried were the chocolate terrine which was 4//5, a bit too dark for my liking but overall excellent; and then the cloud cake which was like a fluffy meringue. I'm not a fan of meringue but this was pretty good - the one person isn't the group with the least sweet tooth ate most of it!
