Southern Benedict with a Fruity Pebbled Latte
    Jaimielyn B.

Took myself to an easy brunch on an early Sunday afternoon after I saw the Fruity Pebbles Latte was on their specials. The Monona location has a drive thru option, which is a great option for grab & go food and drink. I chose to sit inside with my book during my meal. A sucker for a Benedict, I chose the Southern Benedict and really enjoyed it. The potatoes definitely benefitted from the hot sauce addition but the Benedict itself got that pimento cheese and roasted red pepper flavor down. I finally got to eat a fried green tomato! The Fruity Pebbles Latte really was the star, though. They got the Fruity Pebbles flavor down perfectly. It won't be for everyone but it was definitely made for me. I will have to come through for another before it goes off the menu. The cafe is more or less full service, where you receive a number and choose your own table where your order is brought to you. Tables are then bussed afterward so no need to bring your dishes anywhere. Staff was very lovely. I didn't realize there was any dedicated covered parking in the attached lot due to the apartments above but the street parking was not difficult. Will be making my way back!

Incredible. The vanilla cold brew with orange cream cold foam/orange zest is totally dreamy. I wish I could have this every single morning. Please make it a staple menu item!

Loving the new location! It's small but great to have a coffee and breakfast spot in the area. Same selection of Ancora specialty drinks, pastries, and food. Staff were super friendly too! We had the avocado toast (my favorite avocado toast ever), an iced latte, and the rosemary vanilla white mocha. The mocha was so good! I liked that the rosemary was not very strong. We found parking on a side street, but there was surface level parking behind the building off Monona Drive. There was also a drive though which could be really convenient! Overall, everything lived up to Ancora's reputation

Pleasantly surprised by Ancora! I love going to get my matcha/coffee from places with a drive thru, so I can bring my pup. When I found out that this location had one, I had to check it out. The service was great & the person who greeted me at the window was helpful. I got the miso caramel iced matcha with coconut cold foam & it was 10/10, I've tried matcha from many places & this is definitely the best so far. The cold foam was also realllly good. My egg and bacon biscuit was super tasty. Would recommend to anyone!!!

Great food and service - one of the cozier places I ate at while in Madison. Lots of space.

Not good chai. I asked for extra chai and skim milk. Tastes like milk that may be a little dated. Not a chai taste at all. Just milk.

They threatened legal action if I shared what I experienced. The email that I'm still speechless about they directly insinuated i have mental health issues - all bc I asked to speak to a manager about something that was making me uncomfortable and would make anyone uncomfortable. This entire email is the clearest example of destructive gaslighting i have ever see. I have never spoken a word to them about my personal life, I have never said a word about 'metal health issues. I was not given any opportunity to speak or defend myself. They made sure i wasnt called only emailed to control their narrative of me. I made the decision to never come back days ago. I go almost every day. I am unbelievably nice. I dont say anything besides my order and small friendly talk. I say thank you every time i get my drink and smile. I am not someone that would randomly make things up. I explained a situation that happened 5 months ago but as you can see in the email they've apparently 'looked at all the footage' and have made their conclusion in less than a day. There's no way you can go over 8 months of footage in less than a day. There's no way to make an accurate fair conclusion in less than a day. As you can see in their response they accused me of trying to make employees look bad. Here was the incident: I came out of the exit door to the bathroom and two employees had been so close to the door that I hit them by accident. I asked 'can I help you?' And they ran away. Even then I didn't say anything. It was invasive, inappropriate, and incredibly rude. I should have said something as anyone would but I didn't. Somehow I knew this would happen if I said a word. They usually have one or two at the front and are very often alone but bc the employees didn't see anything that means I'm lying. Make that make sense Their false accusations and threats of taking legal action is laughable. They even had the balls to give me the number of a mental health line. It is absolutely despicable and condescending. It's hilarious to me that they set these rules and conclusions that I must follow as if not following it is doing something illegal. I'm not an idiot. I feel so sad for people that are actually like this bc it only shows how many issues they have and how unhappy they are. It shows the type of people they are and their morals and values and indifference. To know a collective group of people, a well known and popular coffee shop, handles a customer telling them something is making them uncomfortable is in reality the direct opposite of how establishments are as a norm. It makes me very concerned for customers. Lastly The email written to me said how'd they they don't have cameras in the bathroom or stalls so they don't know if anything happened. The incident was not inside the bathroom and stalls. I said that many times and made clear. They lied to make me look even worse. The moral of the story is don't speak up when you feel uncomfortable bc it's your fault you feel that way. Keep spreading that message my friends. I was told it was inappropriate to contact any employees or go into the store as if I had already done something or was going to. I do not behave in that way nor have I ever.. I dont have any contact info for any of them. Ive never seen any of them outside the coffee shop or spoken to them. I don't even know their names.. The emails are not in order - yelp has been mixing them up when I put them in order. Sorry about that

Seems like they bake in a convection oven based on the crunch of the outside of these items. Visit 2: Ordered a Chai and Nom Nom sandwich for dine in. Chai had NO flavor. It tasted like milk with some cinnamon sprinkled on top. The Nom Nom sandwich was a No No. It's a cheddar chive biscuit with egg, cheese, and maple syrup. It does not work. Listen, if maple syrup were good on eggs, it would be a thing. It's not. Furthermore, the way the cooked the egg was freaking weird (soft boiled?). The yolk was nasty and they did not season the egg. The maple syrup completely hid the taste of the biscuit, which made their wonderful cheddar chive biscuit pointless. They would be much better off making a basic egg and cheese biscuit. Just because you are located in Madison doesn't mean you have to try to come up with something unusual. Be yourself and show off your food! Visit 3: Got 1 cheddar chive biscuit to go. Woah. You'd think I offended the person working the counter. "That's IT???" she said, along with an eye roll. I felt as if she would have rather not I not bought anything. And the other person working also glared at me. WTF??? Normally I would give a pass, but a previous review mentioned the rudeness. I don't feel like being treated like that again, so I'm done. The only thing worth getting was the biscuit anyway. I can do without.

They also have a lot of different housemade syrups for their coffee, which I always appreciate! I went with the miso butterscotch flavor, which was tasty but I felt like I was mostly tasting coffee and not getting much of the flavor itself. The coffee quality was good though, just wanted to taste more of that flavor. The service was great and staff was friendly. The ambiance is super cute, with plants all around, a vintage feel, and lots of seating as well.
