Such a cutesy aesthetic place with lovely service and amazing amazing food! Got the seasonal Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll Pancakes and they were a 10 on 10! Really strong amount of pumpkin spice flavor and the perfect cinnamon swirl going on there. The cream cheese topping on top along with that maple syrup really was a lovely combination. It also had some fresh strawberries on top but I had those plain because I really love the pumpkin and cream cheese and cinnamon and maple combination. I ordered the short stack and it just disappeared. Would definitely recommend getting the big one here! The bakery section in the front was also so appetizing. Everything was so appealing! I bought the lavender blueberry scone and it was delicious. A strong amount of lavender and strong amount of blueberry flavor coming through and overall so tender and soft even 2 days later! I can totally see why this place is all the hype because I went on a Tuesday morning and they still had nearly every table full!
Talk about amazing breakfast/brunch spot start day in Madison. So over the weekend was racing IM 70.3 relay. I never been to the state of Wisconsin. I was looking forward to the cheese curds and local food in Madison. Marigold local spot that been around for sometime and located in capital square. Really beauty of Madison all restaurants same area next to the state capital building. My first full day in Madison came to Marigold. Talked about packed but thankfully went by quick. I love interior has old school diner vibe. U wait get assign table. U go up counter place order then sit down and server brings food out. At counter see baked goods they looked so good. We got some cinnamon muffins to take back to hotel. Delicious. I got the French toast. Da bomb. The brioche bread. All fresh berries. It perfect. I got matcha raspberry iced tea. It was refreshing. The service was five stars. Everyone interacted with was friendly, attentive, and all smiles. If in Madison, WA looking for breakfast spot Marigold kitchen winnah!
Went to Marigold Kitchen and was really impressed! I was in Madison for a layover and I asked the hotel receptionist if he had any recs for breakfast- he pointed me to Marigold Kitchen. The atmosphere is homey and the staff were warm and attentive. I like how it's located in the center of downtown. I got a seasonal pumpkin spice muffin and fresh squeezed orange juice to start. The muffin was soft and had good pumpkin flavor. The OJ was pulpy and fresh. I also got an americano, which was bold and smooth. For the main breakfast, I got the breakfast bowl and subbed sweet potato for regular potato. The bowl was outstanding! The verde slaw was unique but super refreshing. The meat and potato combo was spiced nicely and satisfying. The chipotle aioli added a welcomed heat and the eggs were fluffy and delicious. All of this was under $25! Great pricing.
Tried Marigold Kitchen while downtown and had a great experience overall. I sat outside on a beautiful day, which made for such a nice breakfast café atmosphere. The service was absolutely great, and the restaurant has a lively, charming vibe. It does tend to get busy, so I'd recommend arriving at a reasonable time. I ordered the French toast, which was clearly their own elevated take on the classic. The flavors were good, but the texture was a little different than I expected and threw me off slightly. It felt more like a chic, creative version of French toast rather than the traditional style, which is the only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five. Everything else was fantastic, though, and I'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu. Worth checking out if you're in the area.

We were visiting Madison recently and found this restaurant through Yelp. It was a Wed. Morning I liked the vibe right when I entered. Bright cheerful charming decor. I was skeptical when I realized we had to order our food at the counter vs. being seated and served. I didn't like having to pay gratuity prior to being provided any service. We ordered Chilaquiles and the French Toast. The chilaquiles was not authentic but we really liked it! Would definitely recommend. Same for the French toast! Yummy. The fruit was so sweet and fresh. The almonds were a nice touch. 5 Stars for the food. I liked that the water was self service. I liked that take out boxes were readily available. I didn't have to ask or wait in either case. I think the only negative of our visit was having to find parking.
This place just gets better with time. It was nearly a decade later for my second visit and I was so grateful to find a restaurant that offers nutritional and fun recipes for breakfast. My sister and I popped in on a Saturday morning and we're greeted by the friendly staff. I ordered the Tempeh grain bowl with roasted vegetables and it did not disappoint. I wish more restaurants would get creative with using ingredients like tempeh and tofu to make eating out and finding healthy food, a little easier. This spot is bustling with good energy, colorful decor, and a menu that makes it hard to choose just one dish. So, I didn't choose just one dish... I ended up ordering the buckwheat pancakes with lemon ricotta as a treat to enjoy later. We ended up being too full to have them with our actual meal. Anytime I see buckwheat pancakes on the menu (they're harder to find), I order them! I highly recommend paying Marigold Kitchen a visit if you find yourself in the downtown Madison area. The spot is just a stone throw from the main square.
Perfect time to go is on a Thursday morning!!! As always the food is delicious and farm to table! The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is so relaxing! Grab a table. The corner and enjoy life!
This place is a very cute brunch spot and has pretty quick service! You get in line when you come in, order at the counter, and then sit down and they'll bring it out. The atmosphere is very nice with cute decor and a decent amount of seating. I ordered the Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte, which was pretty tasty! The breakfast burrito was also good, it had a little too much sweet potato and not enough of the delicious cream sauce, but otherwise it was delicious and super filling! It was so big I could definitely have split it with someone. They also have a nice selection of pastries and everything on the menu looks delicious.

Marigold Kitchen is situated in the heart of downtown Madison and is a stellar local spot that clearly has the heart of Madison and for good reason. I will say that it took me a few trips to Madison before I popped into Marigold Kitchen, and the reason it took so long is because the line to get into Marigold gets real deep real quick...and I never had time! But now, I will be sure to make time. With that being said, do not get discouraged when you see the line of folks circling the block...yes, the line is long...but they are efficient and keep things moving...plus it is worth the wait. The way things work here is a first come first serve situation at the door. There are no dedicated servers, you wait in line until there is space, then you head up to the counter where you order and then find your table. Once the food is ready, they bring it out and you enjoy. So, it is a combination of casual/counter service and sit-down dining...and it works. We got lucky enough to grab a few seats at the bar, which was convenient and also gave us a front row seat to all the action behind the counter and in the kitchen. The menu is a healthy mix of all varieties of dishes, but all with the essence of a fresh and local flare. We came in shortly after opening, so went with breakfast. I went classic pancakes sided with breakfast potatoes and sausage links. My buddy went with the breakfast sandwich and field greens. To wash things down we both went with a cold brew, one to enjoy during and one to go! Both our meals were delicious, simple, yet complex...and prepared well! Their menu is dominated by breakfast and brunch, but they do offer a small selection of lunch style plates and even a few cocktails. Service was stellar from the hostess to the counter associate to the food runners. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. The space is bright, welcoming and laid out well. They utilized every inch of the place, so it can get a bit tight, but again, it is laid out well. Overall, Marigold Kitchen is a solid spot in downtown Madison, and is easily worth the wait!
The restaurant is small but with plenty of seating. Very modern decor inside. I love the outside seating area. It's actually neat concept order and then find your seat. So service went by really quick! I wish they offered turkey meats as well. The braised chicken and pancakes were amazing. The coffee could have a better presentation, especially using fancy names. Overall very good can not wait to try again

Maybe it was the Mexican Coke but I'm just incapable of saying anything negative about this gem that was just half a block from our hotel. I had the Chorizo breakfast burrito served as a bowl. It had just the right number of contrasting interesting flavors and textures including a lightly pickled slaw, sweet potatoes, black beans, pepitas (pumpkin seeds) , a chorizo mayo and beautiful fluffy eggs. It is, without exaggeration, the most satisfying breakfast I've had in years. Beyond flavor, my meal came out very quickly and was served by engaged happy people in a cozy environment with pillows and padded, built-in seating against a wall. The space Marigold Kitchen has built is very warm and inviting. I enjoyed watching the other diners and the staff interactions while I had my breakfast. read more
Excellent service and the food is equally delicious! A "true budding flower" near the capitol. It was a great way to kick off my visit in Madison! Based on the cashier's recommendation, we had the huevos rancheros and the chicken salad wrap. Both were delicious. The only issue was that the black bean soup was really salty. We tried to dilute the soup with water but it was still not good. The workers were eager to fix it and we ended up getting the pumpkin spice buckwheat pancakes and they were scrumptious with a crispy sugar crust which was super unique. This is a pay at the counter place. More cafe style and they were nice enough to serve us even though we came in 15 min prior to closing. I highly recommend this place and want to come back soon! The best place for breakfast in Madison! Get here early so you don't have a wait. It's an order at the counter, take a number situation. The food comes out in a good amount of time. Discovered this spot while my little sister was in town visiting and now have already been back with plans to keep returning. I've ordered the same thing both times because I loved it so much- the Three Grain & Tempeh Bowl. It's so fresh and delicious, filling without making you feel over-full and gross. She had the Mushroom & Gouda Omelette and also very much enjoyed. The seating space is small so you can definitely run into a wait during busy times, but service moves fast! You'll order at the counter and be handed a number to take to your table, where the food will be delivered. During busy times I've seen them try to help coordinate seating arrangements but it is otherwise largely a seat yourself sort of place. Next on my list are the lemon ricotta pancakes which are reportedly famous and a turmeric cookie I spotted in the bakery section :) read more

The menu here is fantastic. I'm confident there is something for everyone on this menu. Marigold Kitchen nails the customer experience. From walking you through how ordering works to cleaning tables seconds after someone leaves. Every staff member was friendly and the space felt very upbeat and alive! Now to the best part; the food. Every plate was rich in flavor and the servings were generous. I look forward to coming back and trying their lunch menu! read more

Need a solid brunch place? This is it. This place gets packed, so I definitely recommend coming early to beat the brunch line. You check in, they give you a number, you wait for your table, and order at a counter. I got the breakfast burrito as a bowl, and it was great! The only downside is that a lot of their dishes use sweet potato which I'm not the biggest fan of, but I haven't tried asking to substitute them for regular potatoes. The interior is so warm and cozy, and I love the marigold theme all around. read more

Five Stars all the way. Incredble breakfast brunch place right off the Capitol Square. Nice bright place, service is friendly, workers are happy. Loved the Huevos Rancheros dish. The Anodyne coffee is tasty. They had a few specials going that looked interesting. Good place for biz travelers, co-worker meetups, small families. 100% will return when I'm back in Madison. read more

Such a great spot for an "in & out" type of lunch (if you don't want to rush this is also a great atmosphere to just enjoy) The food came out very quick and the staff was friendly and attentive. All staff members seemed hands on and helpful with all tasks! They have a great variety of breakfast/brunch/ items and a good amount of vegetarian items too. Not terribly pricey. read more

This was my second time having breakfast here and it's been excellent both times. I got the mint latte to drink which was fantastic-- they make their mint syrup in house. To eat I got the avocado toast which was slightly above average in my opinion, though the presentation was pretty. The service was incredible. Every staff member I interacted with seemed cheerful and eager to help. The table next to mine had something wrong with their food and the staff immediately took the blame, remade it for them, and offered them a pastry. The customer service truly stood out to me and I will definitely come back. read more
If you are willing to wait in the line to get into marigold I fully believe it's worth the wait! I went with some friends for brunch and waited about 30 minutes in line. They took our order in line and by the time we got seated our food was ready within 10 minutes. I was very impressed with the quality of food and timing with the amount of guest they were serving. The restaurant is lively and a bit loud at times but great if you want to catch up with friends! They are so creative with their menu and have super fun flavors that rotate with the seasons! read more

What a cute restaurant! First time eating out in Madison and I really enjoyed it! Quick service and the food was delicious! I ordered the pesto omelette with a side of potatoes and bread. The portion was perfect and if it wasn't for the wasps- I would've finished my food lol! They also have outdoor seating and that's where the wasps were hanging out- it wasn't too bad until the end of our meals when they got a bit aggressive and we decided to leave but that's not their problem! Oh, the drink I ordered was amazing! I usually have a hard time finding a good turmeric latte but this hit the spot and I was absolutely satisfied :) would def come back and bring some friends! read more

What a great place! This came up on multiple list for best breakfast in Madison. We opted to walk over here first before we visited the farmers market that is around the capital.(awesome btw so check that out too). There was a short Q while we waited. We were able to dine inside. They give you a menu so you are prepared to order because they want to keep the timings moving along. So we ordered at the counter and then took our number and sat at the table that was assigned to us. The food tasted freshly prepared and the portions were very good. Although it's one of the more pricier options in the neighborhood it was still very delicious. Service was very friendly and efficient. It has a very cool earthy vibe inside. Would return. read more

Visited this morning for the first time and can't believe I've never been here before! While they don't take reservations and parking can be a challenge, everything goes so quickly and is run so smoothly. We arrived and the place was full except for two counter bar seats. The hostess offered those to us and we accepted. She gave us our table number and we ordered at the counter. Even though it was full, the staff were so cheerful and pleasant. We grabbed waters from the water station and sat down. It was so cute inside although it is a little loud when full since it's so tiny. I ordered a Mexican hot chocolate and the chili poached eggs while my friend ordered a bloody Mary and the chorizo and sweet corn hash omelette. Everything came quickly, so quickly even that our food actually arrived before our drinks. The Mexican hot chocolate was the perfect combination of sweet and spicy, plus the perfect temperature. My eggs were perfect too and I liked that they came with prosciutto, greens, and rosemary bread. I added avocado which was pricy but worth it to have a little more going on on the plate. My friend's bloody Mary and omelette were also great. The bloody Mary was so thick and had really good horseradish, while the omelette was so stuffed that she couldn't eat it all with the potatoes. Our food was excellent and the plates we saw coming out all around us looked amazing as well, so I'd love to come back another time to try more of the menu. Based on this visit, it should be great! read more
