I love Vintage!!! I usually stop at Vintage East but was meeting my daughter. This visit wasn't as good as normal, but still great overall. I always get a house salad and I opted for soup this round. The soup was so ick. It was French Onion and it was weirdly sweet. My daughter ordered a shrimp rice bowl that seemed very skimpy. There was a good amount of shrimp but they were very light on the rest. Also ordered an old fashioned sour and it was really good! After a long day of hiking, Vintage Brewery was exactly what we needed cozy, casual, and comfort food done right. We rolled in a bit after brunch hours (they stop at 2 PM), but the staff didn't miss a beat and still let us order from the menu. Huge points for that hospitality We went with the flatbread, pretzels, and the BBQ mac & cheese and wow, everything hit perfectly after hours on the trail. Quick stop for a family dinner, so I didn't get any photos. The service was excellent. Our server brought me a refill on my soda almost immediately after I finished my first one without asking. She was friendly, patient, and efficient. I had the walleye for the first time here, and it was excellent. Our veggies and potato were not warm, but otherwise is was a great visit. I've only been to this Vintage location a few times, but it's always been decent at worst and excellent at best. On our most recent visit, I was really pleased with the dark beer selection, the food, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the bar-staff. We were a group of five and sat in an area off the bar, so we ordered at the bar. Both of the bartenders I spoke with were friendly, made recommendations, and just seemed very accommodating. Regarding food, I thought the Sausage & Pepperoni flatbread, the cheese curds, and the garlic parmesan rip rip chicken were all excellent. The fries were good but could have been slightly crispier for me. Our only complaint was that one of the chairs at our table was very wobbly, but that was a minor concern. The drinks are usually a strong point here, and they were solid this time as well, but the food really missed the mark for me on this visit. The small house salad was noticeably smaller than the same salad at the East Side location, even though the prices are about the same, which was disappointing. The French onion soup was overly sweet and honestly tasted more like sugar than soup. I also tried the blackened shrimp bowl, which was just okay and not as good as similar bowls at places like Sweetgreen or Forage, especially considering it was more expensive. I also did not love that the shrimp still had the tails on, since they were covered in sauce and made the dish messy to eat. The highlight of the visit was definitely the service. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and friendly, and when my rewards in the app were not working, the manager stopped by and helped right away. Awesome atmosphere, love the fishtank behind the wraparound bar. Bathrooms have a separate wall so you're not coming out straight to the crowds. Very elective vibe with the decor and food menu. Beer is decent, their sours definitely need more "kick" or tang to them. A little bland but good flavors coming through. Buffalo chicken is tender, juicy and breaded crisp. The chicken thigh meat never disappoints! Sidewinder fries are fluffy and fried golden delicious. Ranch has a little more garlic this time, but I don't think you can ever have too much! Friends had been prior with good results so we tried out lunch again today. Cool, old school, bar and restaurant feel on the inside brewing up an assortment of beers. Service was quick and prompt pumping out food to the table as it was piping hot and ready. They also have a great kids menu coming with their own kiddie cocktails so they know something about keeping kids happy. Service has to be like 10 stars, our server was incredible. She made a bunch of conversation with us, kept saying hello and petting our dog when she came by, and toward the end of the meal brought up a bunch of treats and asked for high fives. She was amazing. Unfortunately, the beers weren't quite so amazing. I'll caveat that the two I wanted to try the most (a Belgian Tripel and a Peach Wheat) were sold out, but after trying a couple barrel aged ones and a couple Belgians, they all suffered from that aftertaste of sweetness/syrupyness. I'm not a IPA/pale ale fan so I went more Belgian and lager and while the menu sounded great the beers were all just ok. Might see if I can't try those two that were sold out some other time though. read more

Our party of 10 had reservations after UW graduation - table was ready to when when we arrived and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of drink option - duh is a brewery - and most everything enjoyed what they picked. We picked up a few six packs of Bees Knees to take home. The food was meh. Many of us got sandwiches which were all "fine" but nothing special. The tater tots were not crunchy and the fries were unusually large and also not very crispy. the flavor profile of both was super bland. I get it, potatoes, but no flavor made me not want to bother to eat them. My fish and chips was really underwhelming. The breading - again - lacked flavor and the fit was a bit undercooked. I was visiting (back home) and really looking forward to some quality fish fry. Not here. The place was clean - and packed. Graduation weekend is busy everywhere in Madison of course .We had no trouble with our rez and it wasn't super loud, allowing us to have multiple small conversations at the long table. Let me start by saying they have a wonderful staff, I'd give them 20 stars!! My review has absolutely nothing to do about customer service but about the quality of the food. This is usually my go to spot when in town but sad to say in a matter of a few months since my last trip, the food has gone way down hill. Portions are literally half the sized and they charge more. I had take out for my parents, ordered the Shrimp Tostada, only had 3 shrimp and very limited toppings. I had the Cubana sandwich which used to be a big sandwich, now it's a small panini, less than half the size of the original. Sad to say, I'll stop for a drink, but I won't be eating here again. The staff is super friendly, I heard some corporate turnover caused the skimming. Unfortunately this how restaurants die. I've been here a few times and also at their other location and it's a great place for a drink and appetizers! We ordered a beer and a cider -- Cora recommended a sweet cider that was much better than the Orchard I thought I wanted. It was excellent! We had the pretzel appetizer which was DELICIOUS, but the cheese sauce was lumpy and odd. My friend ordered the flatbread which was like a pizza with sausage bits. I ordered the pork tacos (special) which were also delicious and much more food than I was expecting. The taco shell was like semi-hard, which I wish they were soft. Our servers were great. This was our lunch stop on a nice cool summer afternoon so the patio was our seating choice. The place is on the end of a strip mall with a spectacular view of the HyVee store from our nice patio. The inside has a nice bar and dining area with a vintage/retro theme which was cool. The large fish tank on the bar is very cool. The menu isn't super big but it's got enough to satisfy most people so we ordered a sausage and pepperoni flat bread, margarita flat bread and a Thai salad. My blood Mary spicy was pretty good as well as the Irish red ale. The salad and flat breads were also good but I think I will skip them and just get a pizza from somewhere if I want pizza because it just wasn't the same. I'll take any chance to eat outside. They have a spacious patio. Even though it's next to the road, it's a bit elevated, so the road noise is not distracting. Our server was prompt and friendly. There were no delays in getting our food. My drink (Pardon my French Roast) was prepared well. It was very tasty and refreshing. My Black & Bleu burger had just the right combination of mushrooms, onions, and Bleu cheese. It was very satisfying, even though it was cooked a bit to the 'well done' end and not medium as I had wanted. My wife's Egg Ham & Cheese Paninni was also very tasty, not dry. All the elements of the sandwich were layered well. I really liked the Sidewinder Fries. There were perfect. Crunchy outside with a warm soft potato flavor inside. I could've eaten those all day. I'll have to return and try their beers. But, for now it's nice to have a place to get good food & drink and be outdoors. read more

I have always liked the vintage as a good spot to get together with friends for dinner or to sit at the bar and have a beer. I appreciate that they consistently have a more diverse beer menu so I can get a dark beer not just during the cold, winter months. And when I drink their dark beer, I'm always satisfied. Not to mention, even though they've expanded a tiny bit since I first started going here, they're a local Madison area business. We recently did a larger order from the Vintage during a work lunch. Delivery was easy and on time. Oh my, I have not had food at the Vintage in awhile but my lunch was outstanding. I was originally going to order a build-your-own burger sub veggie patty, but my co-worker entering in the orders seemed to be unable to find that option. Not sure if it was operator error or something messed up on the website. Either way, lots of things on the menu looked good so I went with the turkey panini melt (without bacon, sorry bacon lovers). It was DELICIOUS. Moreover, their "sidewinder fries" are legit some of the best french fries I've had... and I really really like french fries. I can't wait to order again. I saw the listing that there are lots of vegetarian options and I definitely wouldn't say that is true but there are several options - two flat breads, one caprese and one salad. Our server said all the dressings but ranch are made in house. Full bar and the beers they make in house available as well. Patio seating for seated dinner and bar customers. Lots of indoor seating. We've had a lot of good experiences here. The service is usually great and the food is good. Recently we visited and tried the Nachos and bluegill fish and chips. For two people, we honestly could have eaten only the Nachos. Lots of good flavor in the nachos and they aren't spicy as they might sound. The nachos are huge, be warned. To add to the quantity, the amount of fish in the bluegill fish and chips is surprisingly large as well. The fish is cooked and breaded well so it's a good fish fry. The fries are thick and curly, a little different than normal, and we enjoyed them. read more

She took a long time for everything and the only reason we knew her name was because of how friendly she was when introducing and serving other guests around us. They just opened dining inside (and outside), so there was a bit of a wait to get seated. We chose to sit outside, and it was the perfect setting for just two, however the highway is right there, so if you're there with a large party or people you wanna actually have a conversation with, it may not be the right choice for you. It was cool to watch all the cars go by, and there aren't many places that have an outdoor dining area like this one. I got the Rip Rip Mac & Cheese, and it was really good for the first couple of bites. After that, it got way too cheesy, and I didn't even wanna bring it home with me. I think they used thigh meat, which to me would've been better with chicken breast (but that's just my personal preference). It did have a good kick to it, so it was slightly spicy. The drink selection was nice, and you can get up to 3 draft samples to taste before you commit to a beer. They had a delicious cider on draft from another company, and it was so so good! If you're looking for a place where you can watch a game, drink some beers, and eat some food, this is a great place to do so. For beers we ordered the Dedication and Whaddya Say Bro. Both were great. For food we ordered the chicken bacon ranch wrap, buffalo chicken sandwich, and home grown burger - all tasted great. Personally I felt the fried buffalo chicken pieces on the sandwich were too bready (more bread than chicken) but the flavor was great regardless. The mashed potatoes and gravy side was ok, not my favorite. The fries or tater tots are better side options here. Overall it was a good visit. We did tasting flights here and they nailed every style!!! Well done! We loved the Scaredy Cat Stout and the Pumpkin Ale. (These are even better if you mix them!!!) The bartenders are super friendly. Not sure how this place isn't rated higher! I've had dinner here several times and their burgers are always cooked to perfection (for me that means a beautiful medium). Their deal on their award winning beers on Fridays ($4!!!) is awesome. Their fries are my absolute favorite, I would classify them as a work of art. We've brought out of town friends here for dinner and they've loved it. You've got to try the Rip-Rip chicken with the peach chipotle flavor. SO good. Try it. Big Sky Burger is my favorite, hello fried onion rings. Haven't had the curds yet! The appetizer pretzel bites are okay, nothing to write home about. The mustard sauce that comes with them is better than the pretzels if you ask me. This place also has lots of patio seating which helps on busy days. I would guess most negative reviews are from people complaining about slower service on busy days, but that's what you get when your food and beer is fantastic. Oh well!
