Era cafe is a fantastic choice for brunch (and probably lunch too!) I'm back in my old stomping ground of Madison (Go Badgers!) and stumbled upon this place. Though it's a bit outside of Madison proper it is worth the drive. The fluffy homemade pancakes and warm syrup were a 5/5. The era omelette is fluffy, delicious and packed with cheese, veggies, and meats. Perfectly cooked hash browns and tasty coffee rounded out a delightful meal. I was charged a 3% processing fee for paying with a debit card. Visa's merchant rules prohibit surcharging Visa debit card transactions, and Wisconsin law also does not permit merchants to impose credit card surcharges on debit card purchases, even if the card is processed as "credit." The food and customer service by Nora was good, but businesses should follow the payment rules that apply to the methods they accept. I hope Era Café corrects this practice so future customers aren't charged an improper fee when using a debit card. read more

I love it, my mom loves it, and now my mother-in-law does, as well. The food is excellent. The house potatoes are a-ma-zing. My huevos rancheros didn't come with potatoes and I tried my mother-in-law's and I kept stealing them from her plate. I even had to order a side to take home! They are seasoned well and are air fried. The service is very good. They have a good study for reservations: you can reserve a table an hour out. A very clean restaurant with good and service and service. We try to stop every time that we are in the area. The atmosphere is very pretty. It's always fun to have a new spot in town! This is a great little breakfast joint, but gets busy, so get in early! It was a little overpriced (what isn't these days?), but the coffee and breakfast offerings were unique and yummy. The spot is decorated well and comfortable. Definitely worth a try! read more

Ordered crepes-- chicken florentine: mushrooms, spinach, crepes, hollindaise all good; chicken tasted very salty/processed and was dry. Bfast potatoes were the same kind you can get anywhere and seemed like they'd been sitting around a while. My waiter was great; and there must have been 25 staff around, mostly sitting at tables and booths doing a variety of tasks. $6 for a glass of juice is high, I think. Biggest concern-- there was a lot of food/garbage on the floor, esp where I was seated. Granted, it was 45-min to close, but I was really surprised that with all the staff hanging out, no one was making an effort to clean it up. I should have refused to sit there, because there were open tables all over, but... I tried not to think about what the places NOT visible to customers looked like, such as the kitchen. I've gone twice this last week. Midweek = less busy than the weekend. But you can log in and add yourself to the waitlist. A tip from our super sweet waitress. We brought family in for the weekend and it didn't disappoint. Their omelette vs skillet is a hard choice. The side pancake = dessert! We had to try the "million dollar bacon". We rated it an 8/10. I understand the uncertainty with estimating wait times, but to say it will be 1 hour and 15 minutes, and to wait more than 2 hours is pretty bad. Plus, they won't actually send a text confirmation to confirm you are on the list. read more

First time I went there, after we were seated, it took 20 minutes for a server to come to our table when there was hardly anyone in the place. The food was amazing! Won't eat here again. Seated next to a construction crew working on the booths next to us. They were drilling, pounding talking loud disrupting we could not hear each other. Everyone else in restaurant was seated in another room. When I asked to speak to manager, she came said she would be right back but never showed up and we had to leave. WHY DIDN'T THEY MOVE US.
