Hours are tuff and definitely geared towards a certain demographic. We got the combo and it was delicious! The kimbap was especially good. Tteokbokki is authentic, which means too spicy for me. Mandu solid and they threw in some japchae in there since they took a long time for our order and it tasted pretty Chinese. We probably should have gotten more of the street food but I would definitely recommend this place for those craving some Korean cuisine classics in Madison!

If you are looking for savory authentic Korean street food and popular Korean snacks/treats that you will crave over and over over again try Cafe MiMi located on Allen Street in Madison, WI which is a unique hidden gem of Korean culinary treasure owned by a really kind Korean owner! The food will have you hooked! Cafe MiMi is a charming tiny cafe with an order window along the sidewalk. The cafe is currently not a dine in cafe only for pick up/take out. There is only limited street parking. Also, the hours are very limited currently only open during the weekdays between 11AM-1:30PM and 3:30-5:30PM. You order at the window or there is also self service pos system/tablet that you can order on for convenience. Cafe MiMi offers a very affordable menu of delicious Korean staples like Kimbap, Tteokbokki, Japchae, Crispy Man Corn Dog, and Bingsu. Sometimes, Cafe MiMi offers speciality dinner menu items like Jjimdak (stir fry) or marinated pork. My favorite is the MiMi Combo Box which is a delicious affordable combo that gives you a variety of menu items to try all in one lunch combo that comes with one kimbap of your choice, a couple of crispy seaweed roles, three baked mandu, and tteokbokki! It satisfied all my taste buds with a little bit of umami, savory, spiciness, hint of sweet! The Crispy Man Corn Dog is also one of my favorites which is a Cheesy corn dog with crispy potato crust. It's a satisfying Korean take on a corn dog deep-fried crispy with a sweet chewy and savory batter, gooey cheesy mozzarella goodness, and topped with condiments! The Tteokbokki is a must try which is popular Korean street food made with chewy wheat rice cakes in a sweet and spicy gochujang (Korean chili paste) sauce. The Kimchi is super delicious! One day, the owner had made green onion Kimchi (Pa-kimchi) and it was super addictive and one the best kimchi I have tried! It was pungent, salty/umami, with a hint of spice! The owner is very friendly and customer service is great but be mindful, if you order at the window, some days there may be a long wait possibly slow for your food, depending how many other people are there/already ordered but the food is made fresh for you and worth the wait! Everything I have tried so far on the menu has been spectacular to the point where I was craving food from Cafe MiMi again the next day! There is still more items I would like to try but I recommend Cafe MiMi if you are looking to try authentic Korean food that is affordable with great portion sizes! Cafe MiMi blesses the community with a taste of Korean culture and delicious bites of comforting Korean street food!

This is a small takeout counter. There is absolutely no seat. Prices were reasonable. I went for many items. Sweet and sour baked mandu and Bulgogi kimbap were my favorite items here. Classic tteokbokki was extremely spicy for me. Crispy man corn dog was a nice twist on hot dog with a sweet batter layer. Fish cake bar was ok. Korean pear juice and Sweet rice punch were my drinks. Both were unfamiliar taste for me.

Workers are very nice and hardworking! The coffee is some of the BEST you can get in Madison. I have never been disappointed with an order. Same with the food! My favorite is their ham, Gruyère, mustard crepe but I recently tried their ramp pesto, egg, and balsamic reduction crepe and it was also DELICIOUS! Their sweet crepes are amazing, as well. I recommend the lemon curd one as it is not overly sweet.

First time here. We were visiting Madison and walking around the downtown area. It's a small space…read more(almost tiny) that sits at a narrow intersection, so it's literally a pie-shaped space. The upside is that there are lots of windows with natural light. The inside seating consists of long tables or counters along the windows. This is not a place where you are likely to hunker down for a quiet or private conversation. You can tell that storage space is at a premium, with boxes stashed in overhead areas or equipment in the bathrooms. The staff there were very pleasant and helpful. Ended up getting a Chai Latte (extra foam) in a mug. It didn't take long to make, and they delivered it out to the table. It was an excellent drink -- hot, flavorful, extra foam, and not too sweet. A joy to drink. The atmosphere is a bit manic. With the tight seating, you can feel a bit claustrophobic, or on the other hand, like you are at a concert and getting energy from the crowd. For me, it's a place to grab a drink and find a quiet space elsewhere. So not likely a place that I would return to.
