Bahn mi

Ordered the B3 grilled pork bahn mi. The bread was crunchy and the good kind however the overall it was pretty dry. Not enough sauce or veggies inside. Flavor was alright but I wouldn't come again for just the sandwich. $10 price with lots of seating inside.

Combination Banh Mi (B1)

On my quest for the best Bahn Mi in Madison, I paid VK a visit during a weekday. It was later in the afternoon so the larger dining room was empty. Order at the counter with their menu on display on large LCD's hanging above it. I went with the combination B1 (Pork Roll, Head Cheese, Sliced Pork Belly). For those not as adventurous, they have some more mainstream renditions such as shredded chicken, grilled pork, etc. Upon opening the paper wrapper, was immediately impressed with how jam packed the sandwich was. Alot of protein with fresh vegetables, it was well balanced. Although advertised with pork belly, I picked more of the head cheese than anything else. I did get a hint of BBQ so I am guessing the flavor came from the pork belly (but not sure). The bread had a good crust to it but lacked the softness on the interior that I wanted. Mayo was rather pedestrian and lacked the depth of flavor of homemade mayo from other places. All around, it was very good and plan to stop back for their pho which is also much bally-hooed.

Got 2 grilled pork banh-mi and they were delicious! Good amount of filling, I wish there was a bit more pickled radish and carrots and sometimes I got a thick jalapeño piece haha but that's just my experience! Good price for a banh mi! The usual price I'm use to is close to $15 Will definitely come back to try their other dishes!! Also got a Guava Lychee Boba Tea and a Thai Boba Tea and they were good! Had a nice strong tea flavor that a lot of other places lack! Lots of seating, not crowded when we went for lunch on Friday, and there's a parking lot.

We went to Madison many times in the past and we did not have any time to explore the area. Today we decided to checkout this restaurant. We were at the slowest time at the restaurant. First impression was the sense of Pho when we walked in and the cleanness of the restaurant. According to my wife, the Pho was okay. The broth sweetness needed more sweet from beef bones. The Bún bò Huế was good, but the noodles need to cook a bit softer. I was shock with the Pork chops rice dish. Because they served with soy beans instead of garlic fish sauce. Without fish sauce, the dish would not be good. However, I asked the owner and they brought out the garlic fish sauce for the dish. He stated that soybeans were served because most of the customers who could not handle fish sauce. That was a good explanation. I would recommend everyone to check out this restaurant.

I was getting groceries at A-Mart Asian Grocery and noticed this little viet restaurant nearby so I had to try it. Turns out the people working were also from Cali so I had high hopes that they'd reach my standard for viet food... and they did, the food was delicious. I personally thought the classic Banh mi was loaded and reasonably priced. Wish the noodles had more beef but was still very refreshing! You can tell the ingredients are fresh :) we took the food to-go this time but I look forward to dining to try the other hot meals

What a surprise!!! Great quality food and good prices! Lots more options I want to explore here. Got banh mi and this meat combo plate. The banh mi is an incredible deal! Like 7 bucks and the sandwich fills you up! I didn't finish it all while I was there even. The pork was great--tender and flavorful We also got this meat combo plate. Tbh I don't remember exactly what it was called. It was the priciest item on the menu like 19 dollars! Definitely not a steal but it was still really good. Good variety--all the items on the plate were yummy. Food was quick! Service concise. I'm a fan.

Friendly staff and large seating area. Large photos on menu and posters on the walls of the menu items. Tables have napkins, hoisin sauce, fish sauce, sriracha, and chili sauce. They bring out the spoons and chopsticks with your meal. I ordered the #23 Meatballs and steak Pho and an almond milk boba tea. Broth is very savory and the soup is filled up with all kinds of good noodles and meat. The almond milk isn't super sweet which makes it perfect for me and with lots of boba. I was very happy with the quick service and the great food.

If you're looking for an Authentic Vietnamese place, this is it! This is my second time coming here and absolutely loved it. The portions of food it's perfect, the cashier was very pleasant and the wait staff were absolutely amazing and sweet. They brought our food and water and made sure we had what we needed. I really enjoyed the Spicy Noodle soup, the amount of meat inside was unbelievable as I had never had that before, the spice to it is very tolerable and you can even add more spice as needed or to your liking. We also tried the Combination Banh Mi and really enjoyed it. This may be a go to for Pho.

Another pho spot in Madison... slightly different because you order up at the counter & then they bring it out to your table. I got the pho and broth was good but it was a little pricy. I wanted to try to rare steak and oxtail pho but they were out of it. I really like the bahn mi. I felt like it was flavor and the bread was good. I feel like the bread is important key for the sandwich! The Nem nuong nha trang (the spring roll with the grilled sausage) was good. The sausage was a decent size and the sauce was good. I also go the passionfruit green tea which I thought as refreshing. It's a small but cute place. I would go back again.

For the folks confused about the menu, everything is best enjoyed getting items from each section instead of all Thai, all Chinese etc. The rangoons were fried perfectly and did well with a dunk in red curry. The whole seating process seemed incredibly inefficient. We asked if we could at least order appetizers at the bar while we waited and were told no because we were waiting for a table, which was frustrating. Service somehow managed to be both inattentive and overbearing. After we were finally seated, we waited close to 30 minutes while trying to order. Once the food arrived, though, our waiter was suddenly at the table every five minutes asking if everything tasted good (it did not). The menu is enormous, to the point that I genuinely don't understand how a kitchen could execute that many dishes well, especially when so many require different ingredients and preparation. Unfortunately, the food pretty much confirmed that suspicion. The curry was watery and almost completely flavorless. The Pad Thai tasted like ketchup. The duck was poorly cooked. The spring roll with an egg roll inside was tasty, but there wasn't enough filling and it was the only thing we particularly enjoyed. I don't mind waiting for good food, and I don't mind a restaurant being busy. But waiting three times longer than quoted, watching tables sit empty, being unable to order anything while waiting, and then getting mediocre food made this a pretty frustrating experience. I wouldn't come back.

I walked around looking for a spot to sit but most of the tables didnt look cleaned off and there was a "wet sock" smell that followed me around the restaurant. It smelled like a dirty dish rag that never fully dried. When I ordered my food, i was excited to try the pork pho! My friend also ordered that. The server then told us they stopped serving pork pho last week. I feel like this should have been mentioned before ordering. It could have been helpful. Also pork pho is a staple type of pho- so im not sure why this was taken off of the menu? My friend asked what kind of teas they had to offer and the server wasnt very knowledgeable and didnt seem to care. Overall, this was not the experience that i thought i would have. I will definitely go somewhere else next time. I am hoping that their outward lack of cleanliness is not reflection of the state of their kitchen too.

I went with a small group, and although the place was packed the wood ceilings and dim lights help to foster an intimate and cozy aesthetic! My cocktail, for example, included popping boba! Our entrees were flavorful! The waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, giving recommendations and insights when asked. Service was fine, and the…read morerestaurant is definitely really cute--it's spacious and there's a nice open bar--but the food was a major disappointment. We ordered four dishes: the chicken satay and the sakoo yat sai for appetizers, and the mok pa and the praram long song for entrees. The satay was okay--four huge skewers of chicken drenched in a sweet sauce. The sauce was too sweet for my taste. The sakoo was mostly tapioca, wasn't able to taste the filling much. The mok pa had a strange bitter flavor, and the praram long song was basically a fried chicken thigh and sautéed vegetables. All the dishes were relatively devoid of flavor and every dish had some sort of peanut sauce to accompany it (probably to compensate for that lack of flavor). Portion sizes were decent for the price. The check ended up coming out to around $50/person without drinks. Overall, I got the impression that this is the type of restaurant that you go to for the ambience and not the food. I'd like to give this place another shot because the food is really visually appealing, but I think you can easily find better Thai food at a significantly lower price point.
