    Chicken miso broth with tofu

Tasty ramen. Wished more ingredients were included for free, such as bean sprouts. But the place has to make money, so I went ahead and added what looked good. And we were not disappointed in the good.

Shows packing: sealed bowls, in knotted plastic bags. Strawberry lemonade had sealed paper-type lid as well.

Ordered Restaurant Week lunch to go. Worried-but exceptional packing! Broth separate from bowl; and everything in it's own knotted plastic bag as well No spillage and stayed hot and cold. Drink was sooo good; and ramen too. So much depends on the broth and this was lucious. Counter guy super nice and friendly too.

Wanted to give this place another try as it has been a while. Ordered the Chicken Katsu curry which came as expected and tasted pretty good. We also ordered the pork loin curry and it says 3 pieces of pork which we were ok with but they were sliced so thin each of the three barely add up to one piece. If you order this you should just get a plain curry as that's is pretty much what it is. The service was quick but when some friends of our waiter came in he ignored us and another table to talk to them for quite some time.

Had a lovely dinner here. Service was quick and friendly! Not sure what happened last time, but the broth & toppings tasted much better this time around. Definitely glad I gave Trio a second chance. Got the pork gyoza again since it did not disappoint the first time! Went with chashu and pork loin instead of the pork belly and I was pretty happy with the results. The shoyu broth was very rich and full of flavor while the miso broth was on the lighter & creamier side. I personally liked the miso ramen broth better, but if you're interested in a stronger taste I'd recommend the shoyu. Thanks!

I went to Trio for the first time on a Friday night around 5:30pm and there was plenty of seating. The interior is spacious and cute with hanging plants. The staff was friendly and helpful. Both me and the person I was dining with ordered ramen. The ordering system is easy to follow, but can get pretty pricey with add ons. If you want anything other than the base protein, cabbage, and scallion you're looking at $2-$7 per topping depending on what you choose. I added pickled radish to the vegan ramen. It was overall pretty tasty, but I wish the tofu was baked, fried, or even just marinated. The vegan ramen and tonkatsu were heavy on the sesame oil, both having a strong scent and flavor. I like sesame oil so I didn't mind, but if you're not a big fan it might be a turnoff. They also sell Oi Ocha which is nice. Overall it was a fine place to get vegan ramen, but if I came back I would want to try the Vegan Don or Tofu Udon.

Still a decent ramen joint! This time I ordered the tonkotsu with the loin instead of the chasu. However the matcha milk tea was dissapointing. The boba was hard and the drink itself was very weak and watery ;( I recommend sticking to the fruit teas!

Special - A bowl of ramen featuring soft-boiled eggs, sliced pork, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, chopped green onions, and a sheet of seaweed, served on a wooden table.

This place is just meh to me for ramen. I'd make the longer drive within Madison for better ramen. We got the pork buns... I'd pass on these. The pork was tough. Lacking flavor. And the bun was not pillowy at all. It stuck to my teeth. As for the ramen, we got the spicy miso special. It had a bit of smokiness on the initial bite. I can't really put my finger on it... maybe it's the noodles? The flavor? I wouldn't pay $20 for the special again. Service was good, very efficient.

Really delicious and reasonably priced for how much you get! We tried the pork bao buns, the chefs special ramen, and a milk tea. Everything tasted really fresh and the portions were good sized. The service was friendly and the were happy to provide recommendations, which I always appreciate. The restaurant was clean and cute. We will be back to try more dishes, and more importantly, the dessert!

    Shoyu Pork Belly Ramen

Very disappointed. My friend and I ordered two appetizers, the chicken wings and the cajun fries. They came out at the same time as our entrées. Wings were small, greasy, and not great. Fries were good but there was barely any of the sauce topping on it. My ramen was quite honestly gross. My egg was way overcooked and tasted like nothing. The broth tasted like water. Every topping besides cabbage and scallion is an upcharge. The toppings were bland. The pork was bland and dry. I pushed my bowl aside a few minutes after receiving our food. Our server didn't come back one single time to check on us and our uneaten entrées. Eventually, someone just dropped the bill off at our table and didn't give us a chance to speak to them. My bill was extremely expensive. I would've been better off eating 30¢ ramen from my cabinet or going to Culver's across the street.

I went with my daughter on a Thursday and we were seated immediately, not very busy. We both got the chefs special. The service was prompt and the ramen was out fast. The broth was excellent and the noodles were good. The only downside is the egg was still a bit cold. I feel the broth could have been hotter and to let the ingredients sit for an extra minute before service. Overall a very good bowl of noodle soup.

    Teriyaki Beef, Lychee Lemonade, Edamame
    Christina L.

I tried Trio Ramen for the first time and I wasn't a fan. The teriyaki beef bowl was so salty and sour. It wasn't tasty and I couldn't finish the bowl. It was overpriced as well for such a small portion. The lychee lemonade was okay but didn't taste like lychee. It had more of a rose flavor which I wasn't a fan of. The edamame was just regular edamame (you can't mess it up). Overall, I won't be coming back unfortunately.

Dead give away it is a Chinese restaurant. - A glass filled with chili oil and chili flakes, with a wooden stir stick resting inside, placed on a wooden surface.

I saw this restaurant on my way to Costco in Middleton and was curious about it. First was the name. Trio Ramen. Trio is 3. I know what to ramen is, so what is the 3 for? 3 types of noodles? 3 ways of cooking ramen? Anyway, when I was seated, there is a 2d barcode I can scan and it said letrioramen. Hmmm. Le as in the in French? Then trio should be trois. Anyway, nice spacious restaurant with cool decor and vibe. Come on laufey was playing over the intercom. How cool is that? I was so ready to try some Japanese ramen and then I saw the container of chili on the table. Dead give away, it is a Chinese restaurant masking as a Japanese restaurant. Take it from from someone who had been to Japan many times. They don't serve hot chili oil on the table. Still curious, I opted for their daily special ramen. It was Kyoto ramen today. I've been to Kyoto and tried the ramen there. This is not Kyoto ramen. One piece of charsu, 1 onsen egg, and an assortment of vegetables - bamboo, bean sprouts, green onions. Oh, and 1 dried seaweed. I also swapped out the ramen for gluten free noodles so I can't comment on their ramen. The broth is supposed to be soy based chicken broth but it tasted sweet. I have the same neck stiffness as if I ate msg. The onsen egg was nicely done and the protein was tender. Bamboo was too thick. Looks like it came from a can. I also ordered their karage chicken to go. According to the wait staff, it is about 13 oz. They use dark meat so that's good. Unfortunately the batter is too thick for an authentic Japanese karage. If you had karage chicken in Japan you will know what I mean. So the 3 stars is for the sticker shock. The special of the day rung up as chef's special and with the gluten free noodles (+1.50), the dish was $21!!! First - shouldn't I get a credit for not eating the ramen? Also the daily special's price was not on the chalkboard where I checked in. So beware. It is not worth that price. $10 for the karage chicken appetizer. Pretty pricey for an appetizer. Overall, it is not worth the price and it is real Japanese either.

Signature Milk Tea Tonkotsu Chashu (scallions) Karaage Takoyaki - The image shows a bowl of ramen with green onions, seaweed, and pork, accompanied by fried chicken and takoyaki at a Japanese ramen restaurant.

Food 4.5/5 - Best ramen place near Madison! I love the signature milk tea with boba. The boba is soft and chewy. The broth in the tonkotsu ramen with pork chashu was pretty good. Chicken karaage and takoyaki were great appetizers. Service 4/5 - Kind servers and quick service. Ambiance 4/5 - Nice interior design. Pretty busy on a Monday night. Trio Ramen deserves a higher rating on Yelp. I will definitely be coming back to eat here! :)

Pistachio one was my favorite. There were many Asian ice creams. Propitious mango was a good one. There were a lot of small food places in the food hall. I tried food from a lot of different places. The food hall had a lot of seats, and was neatly maintained. It was never crowded. Kawasaki is close to the entry of Global Market. So the first time I was there, I went straight to this place. I had a Chicken katsu rice bowl. It was one of the best food I had in the food hall. Display had some very delicious and cute cakes. Next time I should try some of that. Taiwan Street has nice pho and bubble tea. I went for a pistachio milk shake, without bubbles. It was good. But I think I should have really went for a pho. They have a lots of sweets in display. I went for a peach swiss roll and a sesame ball. Both were good. From Dumpling House, I went for a chicken and mushroom dumpling and chinese chive pie. Both were good . It came steaming hot. I think I should have gone for some of their more favorite items like chive and pork dumpling. From Nice Flavor Stir Fry , I went for a sauteed sliced lamb with cumin. Generally this is a really flavorful dish which you cannot go wrong with. But it wasn't as good as I expected. Flavors were off, and the quality fo meat was not as good as I expected. Stir fry chicken mei fun was my favorite item from Bowl Bowl Rice. It came hot and was flavorful. I also had a tea leaf flavor egg. It was just $1. But it came with egg shell. I had to peel it. Egg was slightly less flavorful than I expected. Mochi donut is the main item in Glazed. There were some food items as well, but I didn't find takers for that. I went for 3 donuts - Oreo, honey dew and churro. The flavors were all interesting. May be oreo was my favorite. Donut texture was more chewy. From S&B Hmong Kitchen, I went for a fried rice from this place. It was flavorful. Cilantro and scallion on top gave a nice flavor kick. From Poké Mì, I went for a drunken noodles as my entree. It was not as good as I expected. Flavors were off. May be I should have gone for bahn mi. I haven't seen sugar cane juice anywhere else in Madison. So went for one. I thought it was just ok.
