My honest review is, the ramen at this place is not good because the broth is really watery, bland and tasteless. They donot take their ramen broth seriously and chashu in the ramen was almost pulled pork and this is the only ramen place in the world where bamboo shoots, egg(essential ramen items are charged $1.99) and that's just a rip off way of upcharging customers. The only saving grace was pork belly on top of rice was done well. Regarding curry rice, theres 30% curry and 70% rice, the taste of curry was super basic and it was runny, poor imitation of Japanese curry. The chciken katsu was generic frozen razor thin katsu, fried and nothing to suggest it was fresh and tasty. The food is a solid 2, but service and attentive staffs make this place a 3. If you have somewhat reasonable expectations of Ramen place, please find another one. read more

Wanted to give this place another try as it has been a while. Ordered the Chicken Katsu curry which came as expected and tasted pretty good. We also ordered the pork loin curry and it says 3 pieces of pork which we were ok with but they were sliced so thin each of the three barely add up to one piece. If you order this you should just get a plain curry as that's is pretty much what it is. Got the pork gyoza again since it did not disappoint the first time! Went with chashu and pork loin instead of the pork belly and I was pretty happy with the results. The shoyu broth was very rich and full of flavor while the miso broth was on the lighter & creamier side. I went to Trio for the first time on a Friday night around 5:30pm and there was plenty of seating. The interior is spacious and cute with hanging plants. The staff was friendly and helpful. Both me and the person I was dining with ordered ramen. The ordering system is easy to follow, but can get pretty pricey with add ons. If you want anything other than the base protein, cabbage, and scallion you're looking at $2-$7 per topping depending on what you choose. I added pickled radish to the vegan ramen. It was overall pretty tasty, but I wish the tofu was baked, fried, or even just marinated. The vegan ramen and tonkatsu were heavy on the sesame oil, both having a strong scent and flavor. I like sesame oil so I didn't mind, but if you're not a big fan it might be a turnoff. They also sell Oi Ocha which is nice. Overall it was a fine place to get vegan ramen, but if I came back I would want to try the Vegan Don or Tofu Udon. read more

Fries were good but there was barely any of the sauce topping on it. My ramen was quite honestly gross. My egg was way overcooked and tasted like nothing. The broth tasted like water. Every topping besides cabbage and scallion is an upcharge. The toppings were bland. The pork was bland and dry. I pushed my bowl aside a few minutes after receiving our food. Our server didn't come back one single time to check on us and our uneaten entrées. Eventually, someone just dropped the bill off at our table and didn't give us a chance to speak to them. Le as in the in French? Then trio should be trois. Anyway, nice spacious restaurant with cool decor and vibe. Come on laufey was playing over the intercom. How cool is that? I was so ready to try some Japanese ramen and then I saw the container of chili on the table. Dead give away, it is a Chinese restaurant masking as a Japanese restaurant. Take it from from someone who had been to Japan many times. They don't serve hot chili oil on the table. Still curious, I opted for their daily special ramen. It was Kyoto ramen today. I've been to Kyoto and tried the ramen there. This is not Kyoto ramen. One piece of charsu, 1 onsen egg, and an assortment of vegetables - bamboo, bean sprouts, green onions. Oh, and 1 dried seaweed. I also swapped out the ramen for gluten free noodles so I can't comment on their ramen. The broth is supposed to be soy based chicken broth but it tasted sweet. I have the same neck stiffness as if I ate msg. The onsen egg was nicely done and the protein was tender. Bamboo was too thick. Looks like it came from a can. I also ordered their karage chicken to go. According to the wait staff, it is about 13 oz. They use dark meat so that's good. Unfortunately the batter is too thick for an authentic Japanese karage. If you had karage chicken in Japan you will know what I mean. So the 3 stars is for the sticker shock. The special of the day rung up as chef's special and with the gluten free noodles (+1.50), the dish was $21!!! First - shouldn't I get a credit for not eating the ramen? Also the daily special's price was not on the chalkboard where I checked in. So beware. It is not worth that price. $10 for the karage chicken appetizer. Pretty pricey for an appetizer. Went for lunch on a Sunday. Friendly welcoming and great introduction to the menu. We started with tempura shrimp appetizer - three bettered shrimp with a soy based sauce. Just enough to get us started. Wifey ordered the curry ginger chicken katsu on a bed of rice. I ordered the teriyaki chicken on rice. I had heard about Trio several times, I was a bit underwhelmed. Wakame salad is pretty similar to what you'd see at other places. The broth is fine, the spicy sauce is nice addition if you choose to get it. Ajitsuke tamago is maybe a 3.5, it could use a little more flavor but is fine. The chashu is not chashu, it's more little chunks of pork rather than hearty slices like it should be. The noodles themselves are perfectly fine but nothing really notable about them. Don't bother getting the kaedama unless you're really hungry, I got it and halfway through the original bowl I realized I didn't need the extra. Milk tea was good, though you can get better at specialty places. read more

It was the pork based broth with pork belly, a lava egg, ginger, roasted garlic, bamboo shoots and scallions... Boy Freaking Howdy was it tasty! They make their own broths - you can see the giant pressure cooker they use from the dining room. I'm also told they will be transitioning to scratch made noodles. This said the noodles they are currently using are great. Wonderful chew to the ones in the nightly special. We were told that the nightly special is just that... some of the other specials one of the managers (maybe owner, don't know) described will keep us coming back. My waitress was refreshingly informative, energetic and refreshingly attentive. I love Ramen, especially in the winter. Today a friend and I tried Trio Ramen and we were really excited to try it. My friend arrived first and was told there was a 20-minute wait. The wait was more like 10 minutes. Upon walking into the restaurant it was beautiful but on the door, it said a Ballet Studio which was confusing at first. My friend and I ordered the Tonkotsu broth, friend chicken protein, and cabbage topping. I love bean sprouts so I ordered that as well for $1.95. The Ramen was very bland, the fried chicken was unseasoned and the broth had no flavor. I really wanted to love the food but I was not a fan. If the Ramen had more vegetables included instead of a la carte then I do think it would have tasted better. The waitstaff was pleasant and accommodating. There were 4 slices of meat, a bunch of scallions, and what looked like wheat noodles. The noodles were chewy and a bit tougher than I was expecting. The taste was ok. There was nothing special about it. The scallions didn't even have much taste. I was happy that the broth was not super salty though. My boyfriend ordered the chicken katsu. This too was also average. The curry did not have a lot of flavor which is the star of the dish. His came with a poached egg which ended up ruining the taste of the curry. One day I'll learn to just try what a place is known for instead of giving in to a craving! I know that when I go back, this review and my opinion will probably improve. Instead of trying ramen I went with a rice bowl and it was pretty underwhelming. The leftover sauce from my tasty and quickly devoured gyoza helped to flavor the chicken teriyaki bowl I had.The pickled ginger was also helpful. Otherwise it was pretty bland and hard to distinguish egg from chicken as eggs had been scrambled right into the chicken pieces and then added to rice. The service was great and it is a nice space inside. Not terribly comfortable seating to linger over a meal but good for a quick lunch or dinner grab. Spotted this location on our way to Middleton, and thought of trying it out. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by some employees and seated down immediately. The place looked casual and even though it was a Friday night, didn't quite seemed busy at 8pm. They were all very courteous, friendly and polite. We started with some drinks and the Octopus balls for appetizer (Takoyaki). The presentation was pretty neat.. and it tasted flavorful. Next, for Main course we went with Chef's special (it was Tonkotsu Chashu that day ) and Chashu Yaki Soba. I have some reservations about Ramen as their smell & taste doesn't sits well with me usually (several times in past, from different locations, I have ordered Ramen and could not go past a bite or two), but nevertheless I felt adventurous that day and gave it a try. And I was blown away - it tasted great from the very first bite. For both the main course - the portions were sumptuous and evenly flavorful. It's a bit pricey though (think $$ style). The non alcoholic drinks each cost around 6$ with taxes. However, if I had to have Ramen again locally, this is where I'd like to go. read more

I would have given this at least four stars if it wasn't for the terrible service. Things were going slow for the duration of my meal, but I didn't mind since I usually take longer to enjoy spicy meals. When I did pay, the woman working asked if I wanted a to-go box. I said yes because I really enjoyed the food and wanted to finish it at home. I then waited 40 minutes for the to-go container. The two servers working would walk past me and quickly avert their eyes before I could raise my hand or say something. I actually did manage to get an "excuse me" out towards the man working but he must not have heard me. And they were so busy that they didn't pause long enough for me to walk up to one of them. And, I kept thinking that they would finally stop by my table to ask if I needed one more thing. Because why else would I be sitting there for so long? What frustrated me is that it seemed like they didn't care about my experience once they got my money. I saw them happily take to-go containers to other customers, but wouldn't even look at me long enough for me to be able to gesture that I needed something. Eventually, I got the attention of someone working in the kitchen long enough to give him a wave. He told one of the servers that I needed something and the man working finally came over. I told him I had been waiting for 40 minutes for the to-go container that I had requested, and he just said "okay, I'll get that for you." No acknowledgment of the fact that I had waited 40 minutes for this. I didn't expect anyone to get on their knees and beg for my forgiveness, but the fact that I didn't even get a simple "sorry about that" or anything made me feel like absolute crap. I had just been ignored by both of the servers for 40 minutes and they didn't care. And, I know that they knew I was there the whole time because they'd quickly look at me while running between other tables. But wouldn't hold their attention on me long enough for me to send a signal that I needed something. This experience made me feel so terrible that I actually started crying when I got in the car. The combination of being ignored while trying to get their attention for 40 minutes, and then them not acknowledging it after made me feel so frustrated and unwelcome. I've been wanting to take my sister to a sit-down ramen place since she's only had the instant noodles at home. Unfortunately, I'll be looking for other options in the area.
