    Dinner Bento Box

We went here for dinner and got their bento box special which was fantastic! You get a sushi roll, rice, vegetable tempura, shumai, and a main dish, all for a really good price. The nigiri was also some of the best we've had in Madison! The service was quick and our waiter was such a kind gentleman Also the vibe inside is so peaceful, like a spa. Overall I HIGHLY recommend!

Oishi Sushi & Bar, super cute spot. We were craving sushi and stumbled upon Oishi Sushi & Bar and what a delightful find it was! We were greeted by the friendliest staff. The sushi was incredibly fresh, I barely had to use any soy sauce, and the garlic ramen? Absolutely delicious! I had to get it when I saw it on the menu and I have no regrets. I've heard that the owners might be the same as those behind Edo Sushi? If anyone knows for sure, feel free to correct me. Either way, we can't wait to return for more sushi goodness! If you're in the mood for some amazing sushi, do yourself a favor and check this place out!

First time in the area, and wanted sushi as well as ramen. Quaint little place, a rather soothing atmosphere. They were a little slow customer wise so we were seated quickly, and our waitress was promptly attentive.

This place was bustling for dinner. Service was a little chaotic. We were seated at a table and then maybe 2 minutes later they asked if we wanted to sit at the booth behind us when the group before us had just left. It was very nice of them to do so. The server had informed us that it would be about 10-15 min to order because they were so behind. I appreciate the thorough communication. We didn't wait that long before ordering and getting served our food. I liked the variety of rolls they had to choose from. My boyfriend thought it was meh. We ordered the black and pink roll, miso on fire and black dragon. We've always enjoyed eel so the black dragon was our favorite. I liked that the miso on fire came with fried onions - I wish there could've been more miso sauce on the roll.

Not sure if I want to do the 65er again, or maybe diversify a little. Definitely getting the frolic curds and the frolic fries. Food is great, service is great and the ambience is perfect for what this delicious place is. Well, we went back but this time the burger patties were like hockey pucks. Our son ordered his 65'er medium rare and got medium well. I ordered mine medium and it was so overdone the patty shrank for about half of the size it should have been. Waited almost an hour for food that, unfortunately, disappointed a bit this time. It was definitely not the owners in the kitchen like it was on Father's Day.

It was not busy at the time, we were the only ones on the patio and just a few at the bar. Our waiter was attentive to start and friendly. We ordered drinks first that came out right away and then placed our order for food. It was not until 6:20 that our food was brought out. (The burgers were all a little overdone.). The waiter never came back out to check on us and by this time the patio was getting busier. Finally, just after 7 we went into the bar to ask for our check. In the mean time we noticed others that arrived around 6 were still waiting for their food when we left. If you want to give this place a try, know it would be an hour or more after your order before your food comes out. So plan accordingly! They are way understaffed, the food was fine but not worth coming back to for the wait. There are many other places where the food is just as good and the service far exceeds this establishment.

It was SO strong, which had me laughing because my mom is not a drinker! I honestly can't believe that she drank these throughout her 20s. I was really impressed with how expansive it is inside - lots of pool tables, gambling machines, tv's, and a long bar with plenty of seating. When I went, it was mid-afternoon on a weekday, so I would definitely like to return when the place is hopping! It definitely looks like a super fun place to hang out on a Saturday night.

I understand everyone was there late, and that can be irritating if your shift is about to end and you want to go home. But if you state that you are open until 2, people are going to expect to stay until 2 am. We went for a friends birthday, and we were going to start here and make our way downtown to just bar hop and play some games of pool. At about 1:00 the security told everyone last call for drinks and we all got something and headed back to the table we were sitting at. They then proceeded maybe 15 minutes later to say we needed to clear out. Now I would like to add we were not the only people in there. At least 10 other groups of people continuing their games of pool. My friend whose birthday it was went to take his last shot at the 8 ball. Literally our last ball, and the security comes over and starts to harass my friend. Stating it's his business which we understood so we started to pack up because at this point they were clearly uncomfortable by the way he was approached by the security. On the way out the security CONTINUED to talk under his breath about my friend. He did not approach anyone else in that bar except us. The rest of the room continued to play pool until they finished their games. He felt extremely uncomfortable and racially profiled since he was one of three POC in that whole bar, and as a matter of fact those three people were in our group. They all felt some sort of way about how he was approached and we all agreed to never step foot in this establishment ever again. And this is not the first incident I've heard of happening here....

I've read good things about the non-traditional dishes she's introduced here, but the Friday night fish fry that week was a miss. The fish was large but not very tasteful. The beer batter taste was unmistakable but underwhelming. The tartar sauce was also disappointing and fairly bland, not thick and tart. Sadly they didn't have any malt vinegar either. The fries were a bit better but still average at best. Maybe I just had a miss because I remember Layla's Persian Food as not gourmet but home-cooked goodness. If I'm there on a different day, I still plan on trying out something else.

It was very loud with people talking, due to the small space. We sat at our table and waited awhile for a server, but didn't know if we needed to order at the bar. After a while, a waitress arrived to take our order. She was very joyful and friendly. We both ordered the walleye and eggs, which included hashbrowns and toast. My husband added cheese and onions on the hashbrowns at no extra cost. We also ordered a Bloody Mary, which came with a chaser. They arrived with a spear of mozzarella cheese, pimento olive, smoked sausage, and a dill pickle. The walleye had a nice thin crust and the eggs and hashbrowns were cooked perfectly. My better half said that he didn't taste any onions in the hashbrowns and they used American cheese, which made them runny. It was a good breakfast, and we enjoyed our time there. However, due to the loudness, we probably won't go back, as it was hard to have a conversation. Be aware that they only take cash, but they do have an ATM in the building. This establishment definitely had a great atmosphere and service, with friendly staff.
