Oshi Sushi was surprisingly good for Madison. The atmosphere is cozy and modern, and the service is friendly. Our favorite was the Spring Lady Roll -- absolutely delicious! Everything seemed fresh and beautifully They also have a solid selection of basic rolls and dishes.

We went here for dinner and got their bento box special which was fantastic! You get a sushi roll, rice, vegetable tempura, shumai, and a main dish, all for a really good price. The nigiri was also some of the best we've had in Madison! The service was quick and our waiter was such a kind gentleman Also the vibe inside is so peaceful, like a spa. Overall I HIGHLY recommend!

Oishi Sushi & Bar, super cute spot. We were craving sushi and stumbled upon Oishi Sushi & Bar and what a delightful find it was! We were greeted by the friendliest staff. The sushi was incredibly fresh, I barely had to use any soy sauce, and the garlic ramen? Absolutely delicious! I had to get it when I saw it on the menu and I have no regrets. I've heard that the owners might be the same as those behind Edo Sushi? If anyone knows for sure, feel free to correct me. Either way, we can't wait to return for more sushi goodness! If you're in the mood for some amazing sushi, do yourself a favor and check this place out!

First time in the area, and wanted sushi as well as ramen. Quaint little place, a rather soothing atmosphere. They were a little slow customer wise so we were seated quickly, and our waitress was promptly attentive.

This place was bustling for dinner. Service was a little chaotic. We were seated at a table and then maybe 2 minutes later they asked if we wanted to sit at the booth behind us when the group before us had just left. It was very nice of them to do so. The server had informed us that it would be about 10-15 min to order because they were so behind. I appreciate the thorough communication. We didn't wait that long before ordering and getting served our food. I liked the variety of rolls they had to choose from. My boyfriend thought it was meh. We ordered the black and pink roll, miso on fire and black dragon. We've always enjoyed eel so the black dragon was our favorite. I liked that the miso on fire came with fried onions - I wish there could've been more miso sauce on the roll.

I highly recommend the spicy girl and sex on the beach roll. The decoration and atmosphere is very nice and welcoming. Presentation of the rolls is also very nice. The oishi tonkatsu shoyu ramen is very flavorful too.

Dropped menus right away and let us know the wait on food. We were committed so we stuck it out and so glad we did!!! (Wait time was way less than anticipated!!) Lydia rocked the grill and I had one of the best shrimp salads and the husband is still raving about the grilled hotdog sandwich!! They were both getting their asses handed to them but they greeted every customer immediately, never complained and smiling. It was not busy at the time, we were the only ones on the patio and just a few at the bar. Our waiter was attentive to start and friendly. We ordered drinks first that came out right away and then placed our order for food. It was not until 6:20 that our food was brought out. (The burgers were all a little overdone.). The waiter never came back out to check on us and by this time the patio was getting busier. Finally, just after 7 we went into the bar to ask for our check. In the mean time we noticed others that arrived around 6 were still waiting for their food when we left. If you want to give this place a try, know it would be an hour or more after your order before your food comes out. So plan accordingly! They are way understaffed, the food was fine but not worth coming back to for the wait. There are many other places where the food is just as good and the service far exceeds this establishment.

I've read good things about the non-traditional dishes she's introduced here, but the Friday night fish fry that week was a miss. The fish was large but not very tasteful. The beer batter taste was unmistakable but underwhelming. The tartar sauce was also disappointing and fairly bland, not thick and tart. Sadly they didn't have any malt vinegar either. The fries were a bit better but still average at best. Maybe I just had a miss because I remember Layla's Persian Food as not gourmet but home-cooked goodness. If I'm there on a different day, I still plan on trying out something else.

But the illusion fades the moment a Bloody Mary arrives at the table. This is a bar that takes its craft seriously. The cocktail was thoughtfully prepared and balanced, revealing an attention to detail rarely found in establishments trading on casual charm alone. And it's close to our house. And I drove past it for years. To Koffee Kup. To Pancake Cafe. To Luke's. All great. I didn't go here because in the boys' words it "looked sus". And it does. It looks like a divey bar on the outside. And unsurprisingly it is on the inside too. But What it IS is amazing food wise. Everyone talks about the French toast. Having never had RumChata in a cocktail I can't comment but that toast is OFF THE CHARTS. But so is the biscuits and gravy. A ton of meat. Service is strained but lovely. And when you see what that cook is working with you're even more impressed. A 6'X4' cooking station and you make this? Wow. My only complaint is the bacon. Not great. Not actually good. Worth a drive to Wittenberg to buy cases of odd cut Nueskes and this place is almost James Beard Award worthy. Appearances are deceiving. Do it!
