Food (A) And hr food is really good here and a great option for Madison. All the food is really good and for the most part tastes fresh. I got the deep fried octopus thing. These were amazing. Also got the sesame chicken which was really good. The chicken was nice and crunchy. Also got the lamb skewer. This was okay. The flavors were all there but they need to work on this one. Has potential to be really good. Value(A) I got two appetizers and a dish for $36 including tip and tax. You can probably spend $25 and get out of there and be full. Note I had leftovers. Service (A) I want to give to them an A+ because the server was super nice and helpful. But that food came out in wrong order and lamb took a while. The food was fresh since it was hot. Note I went around 2pm on a Monday so there was only 1 other table. I could see this service taking a while when full. It's a small place and the exterior is crap. But the interior is really nice It's a good place, go off hours and you should no problems. It's worth it and the other reviews seem accurate. Give them a shot read more

As reviewed extensively, the braised beef noodles in red chili broth take the cake at this restaurant. I am a big fan of Sichuan peppers when it comes to spice. The feeling of numbness for some reason makes the food very appetizing. It's a big portion, where you can probably bring it home for leftovers. Skewers are also an option here as a nice aside. There is a variety of alcoholic options, including wine, liquor shots, beer, and sakes. The drinks are great with the games they have in the restaurant and the ambiance. read more

A hidden gem! I came here on a Thursday night and just beat the dinner rush. I ordered the braised beef noodles and it was so good. It wasn't spicy, but there was chili oil on the table in case you wanted more. The beef was so tender and just melted in your mouth! The eggs were also wonderful. I think this restaurant is still pretty new, so they're still working out their kinks. My server was extremely nice and friendly, but the service was a little slow because of the amount of people. The environment in the restaurant makes up for it though, especially the Pokemon on the TV. Will definitely be back! read more

We decided to stop in on a Saturday night to try out Haven after hearing positive reviews. The second floor was occupied with karaoke so there was a short wait for the table. Overall, a decent first experience. Our server was definitely hustling and to no fault of hers, due to the karaoke upstairs (where the bar is located), our cocktail took a bit too long to get to the table. We both opted for soups-one with beef shank and the other braised beef. The soups came out steaming hot and I was surprised on how big the bowls were. I thought the dishes were well prepared-my only gripe would be the broth could've have had a deeper flavor but still very good. I would be interested in trying their other items (small bites, tin foil grill, skewers). It definitely is worthy of a repeat visit. One item of potential concern-The menu lists that a 5 star review (google and/or yelp) earns a reviewer a free entree so I hope that their rating is indicative of a reviewer's experience rather than just wanting free food. read more

I don't know how they do it but the food is spectacular. It's saucy but the sauce doesn't pool at the bottom. The beef is tenderized but integrates perfectly with the rest of the dish, and the dish overall is well seasoned. This place definitely deserves its 5 star reviews and is probably in my top 5 places to eat in Madison. Prices are high but match the portion sizing. read more

The dinner we had at Haven and it was one of the best dinners we've experienced in 2025. As someone who travels and eats for a hobby, and if you've followed my food journey on Instagram since 2016, you know I'm serious, this place is truly unique in Madison. Haven, located at 430 W Gilman St, a new favorite! The fries are among the best in the city, and the crab Rangoon and braised pork over rice were exceptional. The homemade noodles and broth, were so delightful that they brought me to tears (I just had to try them). The house noodles were incredible, and they serve one of the finest Espresso Martinis in town! And they have Karaoke! read more

Haven is such a cute restaurant! I wasn't sure what to expect with the food but it did not disappoint. The beef in the noodle dish was super tender and full of flavor. Skewers were also tender with a tasty dry rub seasoning. Everything tasted good. The only downside is the price of the skewers. The meat skewers were all $3.49 for one skewer that had about three small bites. Overall, I would recommend. read more

I have visited Haven twice already for dine-in. For a restaurant in Madison, it is very good! The first time, we ordered the braised beef noodles in chili broth along with some skewers and an eggplant tin foil. I thought that the noodle dish was good but lacked a ton of flavor. I had to add a lot of chili oil to the dish. The noodles were also a little too soft for me. Despite that, the portion was very big, and it included a lot of meat chunks, good for two people. I also thought the price for the skewers was a little steep. The eggplant tin foil however was very good! The next time I visited, I was blown away by the beef curry dish. It was VERY flavorsome, unlike the noodles that I had the first time. It also had a huge portion of meat, which is very generous. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. One of my top foods in Madison for sure. The skewers were good as well, and the cold noodles are also great! We tried the mushroom tin foil this time as well, which was also very good. It took some time to come out, but it was very good in taste. The ambiance of the restaurant is also very cozy and cute, and the staff are always nice and friendly. Overall, I will definitely come back and try other things (as well as order the beef curry again)! read more

A must try. Will be back next year to explore more of the menu. Lamb Skewer - 5/5 Perfectly Seasoned, Tender. Delish. Naengmyon - 5/5 Korean cold noodles. Not a dish I expected to see in Madison, but compared favorably to restaurants in LA. read more

Visited Haven for the first time on Friday night to celebrate with friends. The venue is really cute and spacious; lots of wood and I'm a fan of the ambiance. We ordered Cajun fries to start and they were both crispy and nice. I ordered the lo mein with beef as my entree. The dish was standard. Wasn't a huge fan of the cocktails, they were too sweet. It's a cool place to checkout with friends and get bites. read more

Love the beef curry here. I order it every time I come here. The boba tea is good as well. Love the flavors overall

Don't let the outside scare you. Looks rough on the outside but the inside was clean and well kept. Flavors were amazing! We had the braised beef noodles, shrimp and vermicelli tin foil, and stir fry noodles with tofu. Each dish was unique but tasted so good! Large portions too. Prices were so reasonable and service was awesome. They even had games for the kids to play with, which was a nice distraction for them. We will definitely be back!! read more

Incredible food, incredible vibes, great karaoke setup on 2nd floor, attentive service.

I've been here on three separate occasions, and I've had to wait over an hour to receive my food every time. While the red chili broth noodles are fantastic, I would definitely not choose to wait this long for anything else on the menu. I've had great experiences with some of the waiters, however, it's clear the restaurant is severely understaffed and many of the employees are not properly trained (one of the staff-members verbally reprimanded a waiter the last time I dined here). Overall, I think the food is very promising, but the service is sorely hindering their ability to showcase their culinary expertise. read more

Be careful when you pay your bill. The waiter brought me an electric bill, showing only the total amount, not the items. I tipped and paid, and just by accident, clicked the "print the receipt" button. You know what? 3 items were added to our order list, which we did not order. read more

This is the best restaurant that I've been to in Madison. The restaurant is on the smaller side and has a cozy feel. The wait staff were knowledgeable about the food options and were very quick with service despite being busy. I ordered the braised beef curry with rice, shrimp lo mein, spicy eggplant and garlic eggplant. The braised beef was tender and the curry had a nice umami flavor. The vegetables were a perfect touch, just the right amount and they still had a nice crisp texture. The shrimp lo mein was prepared well. I added a little chili oil to my plate to enhance the flavor. Shrimp was cooked perfectly. The eggplant with garlic was good, but the spicy garlic eggplant sent me into another realm. It had been a long time since I had Hunan style spice with the Szechuan peppercorns. If you cannot handle spice, you will regret the spicy garlic eggplant, however, if you can take the heat - it is delicious. I would come back to Madison just to eat here again. P.S. those little fruity mint candies are amazing. Please share the brand name. I'd like to order a bag to take home. read more
