Didn't really know what to expect at Haven but we had a nice dinner here on a rainy night. The braised beef curry was excellent and the skewers were very flavorful.

Super yum! A very cozy spot. I got the Braised Pork Noodles in Red Chili Broth, it was delicious! I will say that it is a little pricey, but well worth it. We sat upstairs where there was karaoke, so this would be great for a night out!

We decided to stop in on a Saturday night to try out Haven after hearing positive reviews. The second floor was occupied with karaoke so there was a short wait for the table. Overall, a decent first experience. Our server was definitely hustling and to no fault of hers, due to the karaoke upstairs (where the bar is located), our cocktail took a bit too long to get to the table. We both opted for soups-one with beef shank and the other braised beef. The soups came out steaming hot and I was surprised on how big the bowls were. I thought the dishes were well prepared-my only gripe would be the broth could've have had a deeper flavor but still very good. I would be interested in trying their other items (small bites, tin foil grill, skewers). It definitely is worthy of a repeat visit. One item of potential concern-The menu lists that a 5 star review (google and/or yelp) earns a reviewer a free entree so I hope that their rating is indicative of a reviewer's experience rather than just wanting free food.

I don't know how they do it but the food is spectacular. It's saucy but the sauce doesn't pool at the bottom. The beef is tenderized but integrates perfectly with the rest of the dish, and the dish overall is well seasoned. This place definitely deserves its 5 star reviews and is probably in my top 5 places to eat in Madison. Prices are high but match the portion sizing.

The dinner we had at Haven and it was one of the best dinners we've experienced in 2025. As someone who travels and eats for a hobby, and if you've followed my food journey on Instagram since 2016, you know I'm serious, this place is truly unique in Madison. Haven, located at 430 W Gilman St, a new favorite! The fries are among the best in the city, and the crab Rangoon and braised pork over rice were exceptional. The homemade noodles and broth, were so delightful that they brought me to tears (I just had to try them). The house noodles were incredible, and they serve one of the finest Espresso Martinis in town! And they have Karaoke!

Haven is such a cute restaurant! I wasn't sure what to expect with the food but it did not disappoint. The beef in the noodle dish was super tender and full of flavor. Skewers were also tender with a tasty dry rub seasoning. Everything tasted good. The only downside is the price of the skewers. The meat skewers were all $3.49 for one skewer that had about three small bites. Overall, I would recommend.

Really great spot for yummy tapas and saki! It's was 3pm so we hit a slow time but it was appreciated to have the server to ourselves and ask questions. Love the cozy vibe and location nearby State street restaurant row!

I have visited Haven twice already for dine-in. For a restaurant in Madison, it is very good! The first time, we ordered the braised beef noodles in chili broth along with some skewers and an eggplant tin foil. I thought that the noodle dish was good but lacked a ton of flavor. I had to add a lot of chili oil to the dish. The noodles were also a little too soft for me. Despite that, the portion was very big, and it included a lot of meat chunks, good for two people. I also thought the price for the skewers was a little steep. The eggplant tin foil however was very good! The next time I visited, I was blown away by the beef curry dish. It was VERY flavorsome, unlike the noodles that I had the first time. It also had a huge portion of meat, which is very generous. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. One of my top foods in Madison for sure. The skewers were good as well, and the cold noodles are also great! We tried the mushroom tin foil this time as well, which was also very good. It took some time to come out, but it was very good in taste. The ambiance of the restaurant is also very cozy and cute, and the staff are always nice and friendly. Overall, I will definitely come back and try other things (as well as order the beef curry again)!

Visited Haven for the first time on Friday night to celebrate with friends. The venue is really cute and spacious; lots of wood and I'm a fan of the ambiance. We ordered Cajun fries to start and they were both crispy and nice. I ordered the lo mein with beef as my entree. The dish was standard. Wasn't a huge fan of the cocktails, they were too sweet. It's a cool place to checkout with friends and get bites.

I took out luch from here before the official opening. The place looked surprisingly modern and comfortable inside. Lamb skewer had a lot of flavor. Sesame chicken was my favorite entree. Braised beef curry was also good. Prices were slightly higher, but the quantity was really good.

It's hard to categorize the Corral Room Bar. It straddles the line of both divy and classy. Both seedy and romantic. We ordered the French onion soup, cheese curds (not available on the upstairs menu), scallop appetizer, steak sandwich and the pineapple upside down cake (also not listed on the late night menu but on the upstairs Tornado room menu). Pros: We could get quality cheese curds that weren't normally an option here! They had many of the fav's from the upstairs menu available as a late night late night option. The dessert was amazing, as always! Con: The steak sandwich had been rumored to be a showstopper but ours was thin pieces of tough, chewy steak. Nothing close to what I'd have ever guessed possible for this usually elite steak house on even its worst day. Major disappointment.

It happened to be near the theatre we went to, so we decided to stop in and check it out. They have nearly 775 different types of whiskey to choose from, which is wild! I loved that they offer different ounce sizes so you can sample a few, and they even pair it with water so you stay hydrated while tasting (smart touch). Price ranges between ~$7.50-$20.00+. The place had a cozy, lounge-like vibe and was pretty busy, but the staff was friendly and helpful. It's first come first served for seating, just like any bar. We sampled a few whiskeys and also tried their premade espresso martini. The whiskey selection was phenomenal, the espresso martini was decent, not the best I've had (it was premade), but still enjoyable (it's made with Tito's, which isn't my favorite base, but I appreciate the fresh coffee beans they used). All in all, this place is a hidden gem. Great whiskey, friendly staff, and the perfect cozy spot to escape the rain for a while. I'll definitely be back next time to try even more from their list!

I had dinner plans, so I just wanted to stop in for a drink and snack. They have some really good offers for HH and their cheese curds are half off. I had never had one, so it sounded like the perfect time to try. I got a glass of wine and the curds. They came out quickly, hot and fresh. It was a big bowl of fried cheese. They come with ranch and hot honey, and apparently they recently won best cheese curd at the cheese curd crawl. They were super tasty. Well seasoned, perfectly fried, and kind of chewy. I am not on the hot honey frenzy train, but I tried it and thought it paired well, just wasn't for me. The ranch was tasty though. Even the happy hour portion was hefty and I couldn't put down half.
