What a great spot. We didn't make reservations because we thought arriving just after 5 on a Friday would be early enough. It was bar seating only which was ok but just a heads up. We had fast service. We ordered a few drinks off the happy hour menu and two apps. The shrimp tempura app was incredible! Edamame was delicious as well. Wish it was served with a sauce. The pork belly rice bowl was the best thing we tried. The pork buns and Totanksu ramen were also very tasty. The house made ramen noodles were fantastic. Didn't get a picture of the chocolate mochi ice cream but it was DELICIOUS!!

Just tried Unami Ramen for the first time! It is located on Williamson St, across from Feast. There is street parking available, but they also have their own little lot. We came during happy hour in order to try some half off saketinis! We had the lychee, snow pear, and hanami blossom. The lychee was our favorite. For an appetizer we tried the spicy tofu buns. They were good, but we wished they were filled more. The one piece of tofu felt a little skimpy. For ramen we tried the pork tonkotsu and the vegetarian tonkotsu. I was really amazed at how rich and flavorful the vegetarian one was! I feel like most ramen places aren't able to mimic the richness of a meat broth with their vegetarian options, so I was quite impressed!! Our server was also nice so overall a great experience.

Very welcoming staff! Super cozy clean space, nicely decorated. Really good fresh dishes one of the better ramen in Madison.

Found this place while searching for some good food near our hotel and I'm glad we did. Have to recommend going during happy hour like we did. Some unbeatable deals until 6pm. The shoyu ramen was fantastic and really portioned well. The ambiance was cozy with the outside being a little deceiving looking like a house.

    Vegan Ramen

I truly do not understand the people who say this place is good, nonetheless the "best ramen place in Madison." I don't think they know what ramen is. I ordered the vegan ramen. It was the worst ramen I have ever had in my life. The noodles were certainly not home cooked - they tasted like hair. The broth had a weird almost sour taste to it. The tofu was clearly store bought as pre-marinated tofu. The bamboo was completely not fresh. The mushrooms were so chewy they could barely be swallowed. Portions were small for the $15 price. I have heard such good things about this place and tried to go so many times. I finally found an opportunity in the one 4 hour window a day they are open - they are constantly closed, and given how horrible the ramen tastes, I truly don't understand how they make any money. I did takeout so I cannot comment on the service. To second what I saw another reviewer comment: There are too many good restaurants in Madison to eat bad food. Please save your money and go elsewhere.

Came here for a girls night and loved the Valentine's Day special they had going. Priced great and food was delicious! Loved the dumplings and the Ramen. The Dan Dan noodles were delicious too but on the spicy side. It was so good I came back for take out

My wife and I came for happy hour and tried 3 of their "Saketinis" and they were all great. The steak skewers were really good but I would have liked a little sweetness added, tasted like steak and soy sauce which wasn't bad. The ramen was amazing, we split one order and I added the whole spicy bomb to mine and it was the perfect heat level for me (my comfort range is habanero level for spice). Service was very friendly and attentive (we were the only people who sat at the bar), and the vibe was super chill and relaxing.

    Shoyu Ramen

The best (maybe only) place for legit ramen in Madison! Great broth and toppings! The noodles are special- not the soft mushy kind that is mass produced. These are more firm and have texture like real ramen is supposed to have. I wonder if the noodles are handmade. So grateful to have this delicious, authentic ramen place in Madison! Will definitely be back! The folks who left petty 1 star reviews about being told they had exceeded the time limit clearly did not read the sign at the front of the restaurant which says plain and simple that during busy times, each table gets a 2hr time limit. That seems very fair- it's a small restaurant with limited seating and 2hrs is plenty of time to eat. It's hard enough for good restaurants to make it these days- maybe take a minute before you leave reviews to tank a local business for something so small.

Stopped by Wisconsin and didn't have too many expectations. But over all not bad. All the servers were nice, and food came fairly fast. Ordered poke bowl and had some of their pickled vegetable appetizers. The poke bowl itself was just okay. Lots of sides and great portion in that regard, but not much of the actual fish. Strong flavor of soy sauce and not much else, but overall not bad. The sides were a bit disappointing. Small portions and flavor not too distinct outside of vinegar, with the exception of the kimchi which had great flavor. But still not bad, and still hits the spot. Being from California where we do have lots of Asian food readily available it is hard to compare, but overall not a bad choice and still had a good time overall.

Another RW stop for me folks! Glad I chose this one to change it up and get some alternative culture and grub experience. What better way to warm the heart and soul on a cold WI night than with Ramen right!? 830pm Tuesday night, busy but not bad. Got busy fast after I was seated however, really busy! People know where to find the good stuff I guess! I got the mushroom arugula salad, pickled veggies and the miso ramen which is miso broth, chicken, ramen noodle, flavor infused egg, nori, bean sprouts and mushrooms. So seemingly simple but the flavor combo is so complex and darn right good! The broth is where its at I feel and makes or breaks a good ramen bowl. Here they got it down pat! Pickled veggies I just happen to really like so I got them and devoured them. The salad sounded good, looked good and was good. For $26 with tax this was a filling meal, tasty meal, healthy meal and worth every penny. Great staff, fast service and good value. A perk of this place is that it caters well to both vegetarians and otherwise with its extensive ramen menu offerings.

Living on the West Coast we have multiple options so this was a nice and unexpected surprise when we popped in for lunch on the way back from the airport. We opted for a shoyou Ramen as well as a tonkatsu Ramen. Both were rich and flavorful and had plenty of toppings. It came with an egg, although we ordered additional eggs on the side. I saw a vegetarian one go by and that also looked phenomenal. It was a really large portion and we took some of it home. Service was friendly. Parking was on the street. I'm not sure if there is a private lot. Cool vibes reasonably priced menu overall.

I went on a weekday lunch, so there was no wait--only one other customer when I arrived. I ordered the pork belly tonkotsu ramen because I prefer a creamy, richer broth. I almost went for the spicy crab, but since it included ground pork, I switched. My food came out in about ten minutes, which wasn't too bad. The broth was flavorful and rich, though I wish it had been served a little hotter. Portion size was generous, and I especially appreciated the bamboo shoots and perfectly soft-boiled egg. Overall, I was in and out in about 30 minutes. The quality was good, though prices are on the higher side at about $15 per bowl. They do offer a loyalty program (buy 10, get the 11th free), which is a nice perk. Street parking is terrible and I ended up using the parking garage across the restaurant.

She was very careful about our allergy concerns and made sure to take care of us (my daughter has a severe fish allergy and needed her ramen free of fish cake & sauce). So, we went to Zen Ramen. First off, this establishment is nice and clean. The one staff person there, was extremely gracious and friendly. We were promptly greeted and sat at a table. I ordered the gyoza, for an appetizer. The gyoza was cooked to perfection, with a very subtle very soft crunch on the outside, and very tender ground pork inside. The gyoza plus the sauce were delicious. I ordered the classic tonkotsu ramen, and my husband ordered the seafood ramen, with red pepper chili oil, which they served on the side. He poured the whole amount in! He likes the heat. He loved his dish immensely. We both ordered our dishes with Udon noodles. My tonkotsu ramen, well, I wish it had more substance to it. The pork was overcooked and dry, but did have a nice soy taste to the outside of the pork. The broth was delicious, but it felt like the Udon noodles were a filler, and excessive. The marinated eggs were delicious. I didn't see any sesame seed in my dish. I felt like I ate more noodles than anything else in the dish. Basically, my husband dish had a lot more in it, then I had. It's all about choice. The one staff member serving was very friendly, and we will go back again. Beware, you will be full after eating here.

The neighborhood is nice and Sake Sushi is located in a small plaza, however I almost missed it since it is located on the side of the plaza and was not visible from the street. Inside I found an interesting mix of decor, it seems like a traditional Asian restaurant with white linen tableclothes and also some very modern touches including neon strip lighting along the ceiling and a variety of light fixtures. Overall a bit of a mishmash that would be better if they picked one style and stayed with it. I got there in the late afternoon so the place was empty at first, I was seated and given the menu which allows you to fill out what you want. The menu is fairly similar to other AYCE sushi places I have been at. Of note is that at dinner you can order up to 15 pieces of sashimi without an extra charge. I ordered a nice selection of sashimi, some sushi, a couple of different maki rolls, the salmon skin salad and the seafood soup. Interestingly the sashimi and sushi came out first, then the maki rolls, then the soup and salad. The sashimi was very good, fresh with nice sized pieces; the nigiri sushi had a nice portion of seafood to rice. I was a bit disappointed with the seafood soup, just a bit under seasoned and too much bean sprouts. The salmon skin salad was excellent with nicely roasted smoked salmon skin mixed with a bit of eel sauce, delicious, crunchy and one of my favorites that you don't see everywhere. I also enjoyed the scallops sashimi, large fresh raw scallops with a nice delicate flavor and texture. The maki rolls were good as well, nicely sized with plenty of filling. I did really enjoy the Super Lobster Roll with shrimp tempura, cucumbers, avocado then topped with lobster salad; the lobster salad was a nice treat, although I think it was made with lagostino lobsters it was still tasty. I also liked their version of spider roll, the soft shell crab was crispy and flavorful. I enjoyed my meal at Sake Sushi, dinner was $30 for all you can eat. The sushi and sashimi were very good, of course not quite the same quality as the best sushi bars but pretty close. Service was good and there are plenty of choices, including noodle dishes, fried rice, hibachi and tempura. The decor is a bit of a miss, but nothing that will keep you from enjoying your meal. Well worth a try if you are hungry and feel like some sushi and Japanese food.
