I LOVE THE GLOBE so much!! I started going about 5 years ago in college and it was my go to restaurant when finals seasons came around and I needed a comfort meal or when people came and visited. When I say I've had the mango coconut curry 20 times. That is an understatement! I've had it more and I always get it because it's that good and flavorful. The staff there is so nice and I enjoy talking with them when I'm ordering and it's nice to see familiar faces when I'm back in town visiting. The ambiance of the restaurant is a cozy "hole in the wall" in the BEST way. It can get crowded if you go at a busy time so plan ahead (like go a little early or on a weeknight) and ENJOY! Favorite spot off state street. I love the Afghan korma, the 15 bean soup, and the Indian tic tac curry. You really can get anything and it will be packed with so much flavor. It feels like everything's made with care and serious love for the food. What a well rounded (no pun intended) menu at The Globe! It's an incredibly small diner with some indoor and outdoor tables - we were fortunate to get an outdoor table and the weather was perfect. Staff were very kind and attentive. Ordered both soups to try and I preferred the 15 bean a bit more, but thought both were phenomenally savory and flavorful! First of all, the guy who owns this place is the nicest guy, enthusiastically described and suggested dishes to us, and introduced us to his favorites. He warned us hot was going to be hot-hot, so we ordered lower than the spice level than we normally would and the food was plenty spicy. This place is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. It's right on the UW campus and has a few tables inside and outside. We had fried chicken Tibetan dumplings, and I could have eaten a whole order myself, crispy and stuffed full of mildly spicy, flavorful minced chicken. Our curries were amazing. We've walked by this place many many times and never really paid attention to it until we saw some reviews so we decided to give it a try. Given it is a super tiny space we waited until summer to dine here at one of their outdoor tables. One problem with that idea was that on a hot sunny day their outdoor seating has no shade so we ended up eating inside (with minimum AC). Fortunately it was early and not too busy. You order at the counter. And I don't think they had any alcohol. I ordered the Korean BBQ pork bowl and my wife ordered the Korean chicken tacos. Both were big servings and very delicious. We noted that we should have ordered the Tibetan dumplings which everyone else had ordered and were prominently mentioned in other reviews. Next time. An interesting mainly Asian menu. My tastes are narrower than my wife's and she saw many other items to order on another visit. We will be back. read more

I should have known something was wrong when he asked for what spice level I wanted since Korean bbq really shouldn't be spicy. A 1-5 with 5 being the highest. I said two. My wife got fried rice and said 2 and my daughter got tofu tacos and said 2. After two bites my dish was spicier than satans balls and I am used to spicy foods Same story with my wife's fried rice and one of the tacos. I don't know if someone just messed up in the back but It completely took away from the flavor which probably wouldn't have been bad if it wasn't so spicy. The noodles that were used were not the right texture for curry or teriyaki flavors--this was what turned me away the most. Chicken in the curry noodles wasn't the best, either. Cute little place in downtown Madison. There aren't many tables but the seating was cozy and many people ordered carry out. The staff were friendly and good suggestions were made for our first visit here. There is an interesting mix of Tapas and different Asian flavors from Thai to Tibetan. We got the Samosas which were perfectly tasty and flakey, the Coconut Chicken Hurry-Curry at a level 2 spice which was pleasantly spicy and went well with our Thai Ice Tea, last we got the Tibetan Dumplings which were covered in a sweet spiced sauce with pulled chicken inside.
