I have been blessed by the shrimp pho gods. I actually wanted to pee myself because of how good it was. the lady that takes the orders was so kind and was joking around with my dad (as seen in photo) the whole time. there are so many cute plants and decorations all over. it also smelt like heaven. read more

Sunny Pho - dad is happy - Vietnamese Near Me - Madison, Wisconsin

They didn't have a lot of menu items when we went. We were told there weren't any Banh Mi's when we tried to order (main reason we went). We were told there weren't any Crab Rangoon when we tried to order. We were told there wasn't any bubble tea when we tried to order. The place is small and older now and the restrooms were run down. Their CC machine also didn't work for 10 mins when we tried paying, and by then it was just a lot of negative stuff piled on top of each other. Hoping they can improve and update their menu to reflect what they have. read more

Hole in the wall type of look to the place. Plenty of seating. Friendly service. No frills. Decent crab Rangoon, delicious pho broth. Would skip the noodles, pad see ew was just ok. I would come back specifically for the pho which had a great depth of flavor. The well done steak was pretty fatty though so I'd probably just stick to the rare steak and meatball in the pho. read more

Food 5+/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 3.5/5 I obviously might be biased because of my Vietnamese roots, but I'm a sucker for a good bowl of phỏ. Sunny does it really well - no skimping on the proteins (both in variety and amount), savory broth, and the fact that the portion sizes are just huge for what you pay for all just make every bowl worth eating. The actual shop itself is a pretty low-end, hole in the wall type shop, but trust me when I say it's these types of places that have some of the best, most authentic Vietnamese food. Try their Sunny Special - you might need to come starving to finish it. read more

Sunny Pho - B1. Sunny Special Combination Pho Bowl - Vietnamese Near Me - Madison, Wisconsin

Carryout order from here today. Large combination beef pho. Ordered in the restaurant and it was ready very quickly. It is packaged separately so you assemble it at home: meat and noodles, broth, bean sprouts, thai basil, and jalapeños. They also give you sides of sriracha, hoisin, and hot chili oil to season to taste. It was very tasty pho. My only complaint is that there should be more meat at this price $17.00 read more

I'm sorry but this place was not it at all. The flavor was lacking in their food. There was an eggshell still on the hard boiled egg, they put vegetables when we ordered without veggies in the pho and mind you, they came to our table to clarify if my friend didn't want veggies in his pho, the drunken noodle was watery, and the vermicelli bowl was a bit bland. The only good thing is how quick our food came out. The atmosphere is a bit depressing. read more

Amazing pho! Best in Madison in my opinion. The service was quick and kind, the interior could use some improvements as it did feel a bit runned down but hoe story those places are when you know it's the best food! read more

Ever have a day where (1) it's a Monday, (2) work is a long hard slog, (3) the weather is rainy and cold, (4) you don't want to cook but you are super hungry? You know what will lift your mood? Sunny pho! The ambiance isn't much - a proverbial hole in the wall. But MAN the food was good. The vegetarian pho? Best in Madison by a long shot. Two vegetarian roll apps? Amazing! This food is like a warm hug after the hard day I had (see above). Total winner. read more

Two Haiku Review: Solid bowl of pho Though a bit sweeter than most. The large is quite big And a good value. Nothing else remarkable, A decent pho place. read more

We were looking for an alternative to Saigon Noodles, so tried Sunny last night. I found the #5 carelessly made with "rare" beef very overdone and ittle in the way of meatballs, tendon or tripe. Broth was so-so, My lady had the vegetarian and found it too sweet at lacking in vegetables. It would have been a 3 star, but I found the restaurant itself was filthy. Given steady stream of delivery drivers it is clear this place is focused on takeout. Very loud and cold for eating in. Apparently Saigon Noodles is the best we can do in Madison. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by the extensive menu, going well beyond pho. The Pad Thai and vermicelli bowl are both superb with large servings. Clearly, the owner has worked hard to provide a clean, welcoming space, complemented by very attentive service and a high performing kitchen staff. We'll return soon as Sunny Pho matches the best Asian restaurants in Madison. read more

As a student, this pho is what gets me through tough times. Whenever it's cold or im craving comfort food, I always get sunny pho because it's convenient and does the job. Combination Pho 7.3/10: For pho in Madison, it's pretty good. Their portions are big and the broth is a bit on the sweeter side but I don't mind. One critique I have is that sometimes their tripe isn't the freshest, the color of it just doesn't seem right but the rest of the meats are fine. Pork and Shrimp Spring Rolls 5/10 I'd pass on their spring rolls just because their are not really worth the money and they're super basic. If they had more noodles in them or even added the crunchy rolls that some spring rolls have they be better. The pork is also kinda dry. Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli 7/10: Solid vermicelli dish. I really like the egg rolls with the fish sauce they give. I also ask for an extra fish sauce just cuz I like to drench my noodles in the sauce!! The lemongrass chicken is super flavorful too. I usually don't get this cuz it's cold, but occasionally I'll get it and remember it's pretty good. Service 10/10: Food comes out really fast, workers are attentive and nice. Ambiance 7/10: Small shop with tinted windows, it gets kinda cold inside during the winter so wear a coat, but nothing too special about the restaurant itself. It's a nice casual spot to catch up with friends or have a casual dinner with your s/o. read more

Food was super quick. Got the B4 pho and the broth was very good with a slight sweetness to it compared to others. Portion was great and there was a nice window view. I got a bahn mi to go and would have to give that 3 stars. Wasn't on a baguette/fully stuffed. But did the job. They had some Thai cuisine on the menu as well, would be interested to come back and try. Overall nice quick dining experience for pho on a cold day. read more

I wandered in for the first time for a weekday lunch a month ago. The decor is very nice-surprisingly so when you consider the exterior. Being relatively new to Pho, I went with the basic rare beef. It was phenomenal. I like Ha Long Bays pho but Sonny-she has them solidly beat. This is the Sonny Secret of Park St. read more

I got a regular vegetarian pho and the broth was very flavorful! You can easily make it spicy by adding sriracha and chili crisp provided on the table. The regular size had a good portion and should be enough for most people. They have plenty of other dishes if you are not in a mood for pho, including boba teas. The restaurant had a cozy feel to it and the staff was very nice. They only have street parking, which we were easily able to find since it was a weeknight. read more

Came here for a quick dinner on Saturday night. I live in San Diego so I didn't really expect much from a pho place in Madison WI, but they exceeded my expectations. The broth was flavorful, the chili oil had nice flavor. Overall, I was really happy that we tried sunny pho. read more

I've walked by Sunny Pho many times; and never stopped it. I decided to go for lunch one today, and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a Thai iced tea (very sweet, but that's how I like it!) and the Rare Steak Pho Bowl. The soup was humongous, and perfectly warm and comforting for a chilly day. The seasonings and flavors were top-tier, and washing it down with a Thai iced tea hit the spot. read more

Sunny pho has the best pho in Madison! They have a really delicious vegetarian pho full of mushrooms and other veggies and it's just the perfect thing on a cold/gloomy day. The staff are really sweet and kind and coming here makes me feel like I'm going to a family members home for a delicious meal. They also recently bought the building next door and have turned it into a really cute bar. I'm obsessed with this place and can't get enough of it. read more

The pho was delicious. Perhaps not as good as other local options but very tasty. The service was fine. Nothing spectacular but also nothing bad. No one else was in the restaurant when I visited but there were a steady supply of delivery drivers so this is clearly a favorite for food delivery customers. I look forward to going back and trying more. read more

Food made fresh Cheaper to order directly with the shop versus Uber. Their entire menu isn't on GrubHub neither Yelp ordering. Drunken Noodles don't have a spice level like another local place but nicely done. A bit on the greasier side for the left dish in the pic. They don't serve a lime wedge with it but you can properly ask for it. Egg rolls were nice and not greasy at all. I know this is a traditional Thai dish from a Vietnamese place yet they did well but the service made the day. Will return for Pho and crab rangoons. We're trying more places and happy to recommend. Pick up is properly set for social distancing and safety in mind for all. read more

Sunny Pho - Left = Remake with no eggs. They forgot the cilantro Right = drunken noodles that include eggs but not listed on the menu. - Vietnamese Near Me - Madison, Wisconsin

Huge portions and everything is made from scratch by the sweet owners who were so attentive during our recent visit. We ordered the beef and meatball pho, shrimp pad Thai and beef drunken noodles. The pho has a deep, rich broth with generous, lean cuts of beef and flavorful meatballs. It came with bean sprouts, fresh Thai basil, and slices of jalapeno as garnish. The drunken noodles contained a variety of veggies finished with saucy wide rice noodles in a slightly sweet brown sauce. The pad Thai rivals any of the pad Thai in the area. Everyone we encountered were so kind and really cared about our dining experience. You need to try this place! read more

Sunny Pho - My little meatball... and beef and meatball pho - Vietnamese Near Me - Madison, Wisconsin

We heard from a friend that Sunny Pho is good so we went to try the pho noodle special and the spring roll, the pho broth is kind of the sweet side it taste like plain liquid with sugar no flavor. the spring roll we order the pork and shrimp spring roll, the price on the receipt are different from the price on the menu when we place the order. Their spring roll are very tiny if you compare to other restaurant that they serve . We also order a Banh Mi sandwich for $9.19, not much just 1 piece of meat kind of like pork ear and some pate spread on the bread. Hopefully, they fix their price so people don't get confused. read more

Stopped on our way home from the Clinic. O street parking only. A large step to get in the door but worth it. The Pho was excellent. The crab rangoon was very good as were the pork egg rolls. A cozy, family run 'hole in the wall' kind of place that we seek out. read more

Saw a few reviews about the huge portions but I had to disagree. Ordered a large bowl of pho with varies meat and noticed the tendons were missing. The server said they couldn't get tendons in Madison. Shouldn't you tell your customers that as I would change to something else. The broth was so little that didn't cover the raw bean sprouts. Hubby had a vermicelli bowl and flavor was ok. Both entrees were ok in quantities and nowhere close to huge. We both finished our meals and still felt hungry. read more

What a delicious bowl of pho -- every time. The owners are so sweet and attentive. The food is delicious. Highly recommend everything, especially the pho. I know plenty of work colleagues who have used them for catering for their sandwiches. Parking: plenty of street and side parking. Carryout: they are on a lot of delivery platforms, but I mostly see people who have called in for their order and pick up themselves too. I can't wait to go back for a hot bowl of pho soon. read more

Overall, really like this venue. The hostess is very friendly and remembers her frequent customers. The food is very affordable and consistently good. Sunny Pho - Pho & Lemongrass Chicken Bahn Mi - Vietnamese Near Me - Madison, Wisconsin

I've had carryout from Sunny a few times and feel it is a hidden gem in the Madison scene. One of my favorites to order is their lemongrass beef bahn mi. While I wouldn't call it a traditional bahn mi sandwich, it is a stellar sandwich nonetheless. The quality and freshness of the ingredients shine through-loved the grilled beef. Another favorite is their pork egg rolls. Perfectly fried without being greasy, the pork rolls are perfectly paired with the accompanying sweet chili sauce. Prep and delivery is always quick. Excited to try more, given the food we've had so far. read more

I come here often for the pho and the fried rice and sometimes order Uber eats. It's an amazing place to eat! I always get the combination seafood pho and it's YUMMM. My boyfriend always gets the pulled chicken pho and he loves it! The fried rices are great also we like to take that to go! The same lady always serves us and she is ALWAYS smiling. She makes the service great! The lighting is perfect to make you feel comfortable. I'm delighted to say I'll always come back! read more

Really great friendly service! However, the pho broth wasn't quite right. Had the Sunny Special Pho Bowl. The pho broth was way sweeter than what it's supposed to be. I've honestly had way better pho. It's not supposed to be as sweet as it tasted. Hopefully, they will fix the broth. It did come with plenty of noodles and meat though. read more

It was our first time at Sunny Pho on a cool autumn day for lunch. We ordered rocket shrimps and crab rangoon as appetizers. Really good choices. Fresh, crunchy and tasty! Then we had B1 pho and CC1 combination curry as our main dishes. The pho broth was perfect for the cool day. Big portion! The curry was also good. The wait staff was friendly. Our food arrived pretty quickly. The restaurant was on the cold side, our waitress did apologize and acknowledged it. Otherwise, the restaurant seemed clean and well lit. We will eat there again if we're in the area to try other dishes. read more

Fast service and such a friendly staff! I had the veggie pho and it was so good, although I feel they could add more veggies to it - which I saw they used in the beef pho (e.g. red onions) but I trust the chef! Maybe wouldn't be that good right? The portions are huge! I also had the spring rolls and the sauce that comes with it it's just AMAZING. read more
