    Pepita polenta loaf slice
    Alyssa M.

I really enjoy the sourdough bread from this shop and I think it's a pretty good price! It was $7.50 for a sliced loaf of a unique flavor (pepita polenta), which is much cheaper than most sourdough bakeries I have encountered. The service was quick and cashiers/servers were very friendly. The bread was extremely soft, with a nice crunch from the pepitas and a wonderful flavor. The inside and outside of the shop both have seating, and it is very cute on the outdoor patio. The store inside also sells some coffee, different flours, jams, and more to go with your bread. I also got a cheddar chive croissant to eat there, and it was tasty but I wished it had been warmed up, as that would have made it even better!

Fantastic brunch items and baked goods! This bakery was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint! The highlight of our meal was the deliciously moist carrot cake, which came with an amazing cream cheese frosting. We liked it so much we actually came back the next day to get it again! We also tried the bacon fig toast and the breakfast croissant sandwich. The fig toast was yummy and had a lot of complex flavors and textures, and it came on a very thick slice of toast. The interior has a decent amount of seating, however on the weekends it can get quite busy and you might have to wait to get a table.

My kids and grandkids had lunch here today and it is much more than a bread bakery. So much more, and all really good. The outside is pretty nondescript, but inside it is warm and inviting. The bakery case is filled with lots of yummy treats and the menu board has something for every taste, all freshly made. The Egg Salad has a Pesto addition which is really good, and all the other dishes were beyond good. The fruit was super fresh and very tasty. There are two small cozy dining areas. One has a window into the bakery area and the grandkids enjoyed watching the pastry chef work her magic. Parking is in the street or the small adjacent parking lot. While the location is accessible, the dining areas are a bit tight for a wheelchair. However, those at the tables would be happy to make room as needed.

Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Madison Sourdough is honestly one of my favorite places to go in Madison, and it was also one of my first. I remember walking in and seeing all their breads and baked goods and immediately having that "wow" moment, and I wasn't let down when I tried their food too. The Chai latte was one of the best I've had in Madison, the avocado toast is everything I could ask for out of that dish and more, and don't even get me started about the Cook's Breakfast - it was absolutely perfect. The light vinaigrette on the greens, the fresh sourdough, the creamy omelette, and crisp bacon really just come together for an unforgettable breakfast. Definitely a must-try if you're ever in Madison.

First time here. Was in Madison, walking around and needed some brunch. Our friends had been here before and suggested that we stop. It was a Monday, and the place was busy. They have both seating inside and out. There is a good-sized courtyard out front with tables and umbrellas. Water for your pooch if they're along too. Inside are a couple of different areas for seating. Was greeted by some very friendly staff. Gave us help and time to figure out our orders. My wife ordered the Boursin Cheese Omelet, and I got the Bacon Fig Toast. I got my London Fog Tea Latte (a little lavender, a little vanilla, extra foam) in a china mug. It looked like the pastries were going quickly, so we ordered a Chocolate Babka (for me) and a Salted Caramel Roll for her. It didn't take long, and the beverages and food came out. The London Fog was very good. The Bacon Fig Toast was good--the toast was excellent--but I could have used less (thinner) bread. The omelet was perfectly made (not overcooked), and the Boursin cheese gave it great flavor. Both pastries were very good. I thought the Babka was a little dry, so I used some butter (who doesn't like more butter) to spread on each piece--very decadent :) An very good choice for a breakfast meal.

came here on a sunday for brunch! There was a line out the door but it moved at a decent pace. we got the breakfast sandwich, which was a croissant with egg and cheese inside. it was pretty good except the spread was a bit tangy and sour and kind of threw me off. 7/10 the fig and bacon toast was pretty good. i loved the subtle sweetness of the jam mixed in with the bacon pieces. the pumpkin seeds were also a fun addition. 8.5/10 pumpkin spice latte was pretty good. pretty standard, no complaints! 8/10 but the best thing from this place was their carrot cake. it's something im going to dream about for a longgggg time. the little crushed pecans on the side of the cake and the thick cream cheese frosting is something i would die for. the cake was also moist and so flavorful!! Thank god FALL is officially here. need more spiced things in my life. i love cinnamon. this was my top eat this entire trip, nothing comes close! we loved it so much the first time, that we came back the next day and devoured it before our flight home :p 1000/10 the place feels really cozy inside. a little rustic too and very charming! lots of seating but it may be hard to find a seat during a busy day

Love this place, fresh baked sourdough bread and croissants. Went there in winter with some friends, they told me to try the croissants and absolutely loved the chocolate and the almond one! Also tried the avocado toast, and love the flavour of everything I ate. In the end I got a full loaf of sourdough bread for breakfast at home and some extra croissants. Fully recommended to try, also the space is spacious and have seats for everyone to chat and enjoy. Every visit to madison I just go to get a sourdough bread before going home, and I will keep doing it.

I visited Madison Sourdough with my partner for Sunday brunch, and the food was really good! The line was extremely long, but it moved pretty quickly. Both the inside and outside tables were full though, and an employee was nice enough to let us know that we should find a table before ordering. For food, we ordered the baker's breakfast and the cook's breakfast. The menu said that the cook's breakfast comes with bread, which I unfortunately didn't get but I didn't want to make a fuss about two slices of bread on a busy Sunday. The baker's breakfast was a simple staple breakfast, and the cook's breakfast had an extremely rich omelet that I enjoyed. Both dishes were great. We also got a cinnamon roll and a chocolate almond croissant to share. They were both really yummy and the flakiness was a 10/10. I enjoyed how the cinnamon roll was flavorful yet not overly sweet, and the chocolate in the croissant was great. Not pictured, but we also ordered a lemonade and a honey pistachio matcha. The lemonade was your typical lemonade. The matcha was not as good as I hoped, but this was a great breakfast nonetheless. Will definitely be back!

I really enjoyed the food. The molasses cookie was yummy. I really enjoyed the Egyptian dukkah it was very simple but flavorful. The Drew was a tasty breakfast sandwich. Quality of the bread was nice. I didn't enjoy the drinks as much. Matcha had almost not taste of matcha and the latte was not very sweet at all. Service was good, only had to wait a few minutes for the food. Place was nice and clean with lots of seating

Every year I order the Büche Noel also known as the Yule Log, for Christmas Eve. Once again Madison Sourdough did not disappoint!!! Delicious and beautiful! Absolutely the best! Also it had a separate bottom in the box it came in which made it easier to remove and put in the cake stand. The pickup window was pretty strict and tricky because it was only able to be picked up on Dec 23 between 9:00 and 2:00, which I understand the holidays and all that but it was challenging to get there in time. It is always worth it!!!!

From Chicago but this place is so good that I'd consider moving to Madison just to go here more often. Breakfast sandwich was delicious. We also got a whole cake to go, amazing. It was so delicate and a huge hit with everyone.

Great ambiance and service. The food was fine a, little pricy, but a great spot to go with friends and enjoy what this adorable bakery has to offer.

Seems like they bake in a convection oven based on the crunch of the outside of these items. Visit 2: Ordered a Chai and Nom Nom sandwich for dine in. Chai had NO flavor. It tasted like milk with some cinnamon sprinkled on top. The Nom Nom sandwich was a No No. It's a cheddar chive biscuit with egg, cheese, and maple syrup. It does not work. Listen, if maple syrup were good on eggs, it would be a thing. It's not. Furthermore, the way the cooked the egg was freaking weird (soft boiled?). The yolk was nasty and they did not season the egg. The maple syrup completely hid the taste of the biscuit, which made their wonderful cheddar chive biscuit pointless. They would be much better off making a basic egg and cheese biscuit. Just because you are located in Madison doesn't mean you have to try to come up with something unusual. Be yourself and show off your food! Visit 3: Got 1 cheddar chive biscuit to go. Woah. You'd think I offended the person working the counter. "That's IT???" she said, along with an eye roll. I felt as if she would have rather not I not bought anything. And the other person working also glared at me. WTF??? Normally I would give a pass, but a previous review mentioned the rudeness. I don't feel like being treated like that again, so I'm done. The only thing worth getting was the biscuit anyway. I can do without.

They also have a lot of different housemade syrups for their coffee, which I always appreciate! I went with the miso butterscotch flavor, which was tasty but I felt like I was mostly tasting coffee and not getting much of the flavor itself. The coffee quality was good though, just wanted to taste more of that flavor. The service was great and staff was friendly. They threatened legal action if I shared what I experienced. The email that I'm still speechless about they directly insinuated i have mental health issues - all bc I asked to speak to a manager about something that was making me uncomfortable and would make anyone uncomfortable. This entire email is the clearest example of destructive gaslighting i have ever see. I have never spoken a word to them about my personal life, I have never said a word about 'metal health issues. I was not given any opportunity to speak or defend myself. They made sure i wasnt called only emailed to control their narrative of me. I made the decision to never come back days ago. I go almost every day. I am unbelievably nice. I dont say anything besides my order and small friendly talk. I say thank you every time i get my drink and smile. I am not someone that would randomly make things up. I explained a situation that happened 5 months ago but as you can see in the email they've apparently 'looked at all the footage' and have made their conclusion in less than a day. There's no way you can go over 8 months of footage in less than a day. There's no way to make an accurate fair conclusion in less than a day. As you can see in their response they accused me of trying to make employees look bad. Here was the incident: I came out of the exit door to the bathroom and two employees had been so close to the door that I hit them by accident. I asked 'can I help you?' And they ran away. Even then I didn't say anything. It was invasive, inappropriate, and incredibly rude. I should have said something as anyone would but I didn't. Somehow I knew this would happen if I said a word. They usually have one or two at the front and are very often alone but bc the employees didn't see anything that means I'm lying. Make that make sense Their false accusations and threats of taking legal action is laughable. They even had the balls to give me the number of a mental health line. It is absolutely despicable and condescending. It's hilarious to me that they set these rules and conclusions that I must follow as if not following it is doing something illegal. I'm not an idiot. I feel so sad for people that are actually like this bc it only shows how many issues they have and how unhappy they are. It shows the type of people they are and their morals and values and indifference. To know a collective group of people, a well known and popular coffee shop, handles a customer telling them something is making them uncomfortable is in reality the direct opposite of how establishments are as a norm. It makes me very concerned for customers. Lastly The email written to me said how'd they they don't have cameras in the bathroom or stalls so they don't know if anything happened. The incident was not inside the bathroom and stalls. I said that many times and made clear. They lied to make me look even worse. The moral of the story is don't speak up when you feel uncomfortable bc it's your fault you feel that way. Keep spreading that message my friends. I was told it was inappropriate to contact any employees or go into the store as if I had already done something or was going to. I do not behave in that way nor have I ever.. I dont have any contact info for any of them. Ive never seen any of them outside the coffee shop or spoken to them. I don't even know their names.. The emails are not in order - yelp has been mixing them up when I put them in order. Sorry about that
