    Spicy traditional pasty
    Sho R.

This is a very small take out place. There is not chairs. Plus there is barely space for 4 people to stand inside. I got a couple of pasties. Spicy traditional was my favorite. It was real spicy, plus had a lot of cheese. Big cheesy was good, but not as cheesy as the other one. Everything is available as half or full. Half is enough for one meal. I bought the full, and it came as 2 halfs, which I thought was convenient as I had it for 2 meals. Pasty was wrapped in aluminum foil and was super hot when I got it. Prices were reasonable for the quantity.

We got the regular (non-spicy) traditional pasty which was full of yummy beef, onion and potatoes. The portion was large with good bread! It was tasty and easy to eat, not messy! It maybe could have been slightly more salted, but it was very solid. Would try again! They also have specials (today's offering was chicken tikka pasty). The service staff was also very friendly!

A pasty is really just a pocket full of delight. This honkin pasty is good deal. Get a half and it's a solid meal. Get a full and it's two solid meals! They got veg options too!

This funky space caught my eye as a traversed State St. a few times, so I decided to check it out for my last breakfast. I rolled in as they were opening, but food was ready to go, wrapped in foil on the warming table. I really, really was jonesing for the house made hash (ya know I'm a fool for has if you read through my reviews) but no dice, so I went with the chorizo, which also had corn, black beans, and loads of gooey cheese. A half, at five bucks, was more than generous, and filling.

They had a table set up for Madison nights, I ran across them on my way to going out to dinner. This became my dinner, if you're not from Wisconsin or Michigan you might not know about pasties. Don't pronounce it like the little nipple covers strippers wear and you won't offend. The concept came with Cornish miners and is similar to other bland meat pies from what is now Great Britain. This place has added some non-traditional seasoning, and includes some non-traditional fillings. Like a traditional pasty, these are really big so an average person should share one. I don't like to share, so I ate to become uncomfortably full. Still when the young man selling them pointed out the apple pies that his mother made, I felt I had to get a slice. His mother made them. His mother makes everything at Teddywedgers. She's brilliant. Very affordable, which is probably due to the lack of indoor seating. This is the kind of food I like to get and sit down right away to eat, which only works during nice days in Spring and Fall here.

I can't believe it's taken me so long to eat here! I've walked past the shop (and sometimes briefly stopped to ogle the pasties) almost every Saturday in the summer for the past decade while browsing the farmer's market. BUT ALAS, I finally popped in for the first time last weekend afternoon for some pasties. The shop itself is very small, with what looks like enough room for just 1 household during COVID times. It's easily accessible by foot but can be a potential pain to find nearby parking, especially when there's a lot of traffic on State St. I'd recommend either parking along the sides of the Capitol or in the parking garage on W Dayton and N Carroll - only a block and a half away from the shop. We ordered a full southwestern, half of an egg/cheese/sausage, and half of a traditional pasty. The southwestern and egg/cheese/sausage pasties are part of their breakfast menu, which they stop selling at 11am, but there were a few left over that were sitting under the heat lamp and up for grabs. We paid just under $20 for the 2 half pasties and 1 full pasty (slightly cheaper if you just buy 2 full ones) and left the shop with what felt like a 10lb bag. These boys are big and heavy and based just off quantity, a bang for your buck. However, the pasties were pretty underwhelming. The egg/cheese/sausage lacked flavor (and sausage!), and the traditional was a little dry (but my favorite nonetheless). The southwestern had decent flavor, but I personally would've preferred less cheese. I think they sell hot sauce, which I would definitely recommend getting to give these pasties a kick. I ate leftovers the day after with some hot sauce, and they were slightly better. Overall, the meal was incredibly filling (+ leftovers!) but disappointing. Given the amount of love Teddywedgers gets from the locals, how nice the cashier was, and how cheap the food is, I'll be back again to give them another shot!

Pasties is a thing here, and Teddywedgers is the spot to get them. Wife and I split the Chicken Pot Pie Pasty for lunch and it was very filling and delicious. The pastry was buttery and tender, and the filling was packed with chicken and veg. Staff was exceptionally nice. Can't wait to go again!

Workers are very nice and hardworking! The coffee is some of the BEST you can get in Madison. I have never been disappointed with an order. Same with the food! My favorite is their ham, Gruyère, mustard crepe but I recently tried their ramp pesto, egg, and balsamic reduction crepe and it was also DELICIOUS! Their sweet crepes are amazing, as well. I recommend the lemon curd one as it is not overly sweet.

First time here. We were visiting Madison and walking around the downtown area. It's a small space…read more(almost tiny) that sits at a narrow intersection, so it's literally a pie-shaped space. The upside is that there are lots of windows with natural light. The inside seating consists of long tables or counters along the windows. This is not a place where you are likely to hunker down for a quiet or private conversation. You can tell that storage space is at a premium, with boxes stashed in overhead areas or equipment in the bathrooms. The staff there were very pleasant and helpful. Ended up getting a Chai Latte (extra foam) in a mug. It didn't take long to make, and they delivered it out to the table. It was an excellent drink -- hot, flavorful, extra foam, and not too sweet. A joy to drink. The atmosphere is a bit manic. With the tight seating, you can feel a bit claustrophobic, or on the other hand, like you are at a concert and getting energy from the crowd. For me, it's a place to grab a drink and find a quiet space elsewhere. So not likely a place that I would return to.
