different types of ice cream
Tara Z.

We've been moving into a new house & working hard. I told the kiddos we could grab a treat. Our friends posted Fancy Roll ice cream the other day & it looked great. Took the kiddos to Fancy Roll today, the flavors were okay. Kiddos both had oreo girl, I decided on vanilla cheesecake. I was pretty, NOT luxuriously flavored but pretty. The biggest con is we seemed to have been scammed. The sign says $7.50 for a fancy roll bowl I was charged $9 each. That's a difference.

Yummy! This was my first time here and I really enjoyed it! Great and friendly staff! I will be going back soon!

This is the spot to go. It was my first time here and I will definitely be back! Very nice and friendly staff! They have alot of great sweet options. Next up, I gotta try the fruit juice they have there!

I heard a lot of friends recommended this store and showed me the beautiful pictures. I stopped by today and ordered the pink mango. But I am sooooo disappointed. I gave $1.00 tip to wish a better looking or maybe a little more fruit. However, the result is such little strawberry and mango! Are you kidding me? I attached the comparison pictures between my friends' and mine as well. I highly think it is differentiated treatment for different customers!!!!!!!! In a word, I do not think this bowl worths $8.91 ( $7.91 if no tip ... (It turns out the different result is because of different maker/seller! ) please choose the nice lady PS:someone might doubt that Pink mango is not same style with the two beautiful ones (strawberry cheesecake) Then please see another comparison picture.

Butter brickle

We were surprised to come across this new ice cream shop inside the mall, which was located just outside the food court. My husband ordered the butter brickle and we found it to be creamy in texture and were impressed with the wide variety of flavors. One of the best parts about this style of ice cream was the way it was served. I tried to take a short video of how they make the ice cream ribbons because it was little me nothing I'd ever seen before. Similar to making pancakes, they take a cup of liquid and pour it on a flat surface. But that's where the similarities end because the surface it's poured onto is actually frozen and freezes the liquid. That liquid is then flattened and then a metal spatula scrapes up the frozen liquid into ribbons of iced cream. It's really cool to watch! Fun place to get ice cream, neat experience and it tastes great! I recommend it. There don't appear to be size options, but if you go w/ a friend maybe they'll swap one of their rolls for one of yours!

Dessert and a show, how can you go wrong with that? Part of the novelty of going to Fancy Roll kiosk at West Towne Mall is to watch them pour the cream on an anti-griddle, where a it is enthusiastically mixed with the toppings of your choice and then scraped into rolls. It's the best show in West Towne Mall and there is generally a large crowd watching the ice cream jockeys perform their magic. The ice cream is light and flavorful and the only downside is the price ($6.50 for a 12 oz serving), so it's more of an occasional treat than frequent dessert stop.

Yummy Pink Mango...sorry you cannot see the beautiful rolled ice cream beneath the fresh fruit.

Great service and excellent dessert! Fresh ingredients and awesome flavors to choose from. Watch them make your dessert to order...process is amazing. I had Pink Mango today and it was full of flavor! Definitely my favorite flavor so far. I have also had Strawberry Cheesecake and it too was very good.

We've been fascinated that Chocolate Shoppe sends their special ice cream to independent ice cream shops across the country. Being in the Midwest for a vacation we made a special stop in Madison to see the Chocolate Shoppe flagship store, operating since 1964. The store is not large, but it has the good stuff: all 48 flavors! It took us a little time, but my wife finally chose Caramel Chaos, and my selection was PB Hearts Chocolate - never seen in CA - with peanut butter ice cream, chocolate layers and peanut butter cups. They have a few indoor tables and a number of outdoor ones as well. There was a steady stream of customers while we were savoring our ice cream. Still as the flagship store I was expecting a little more. First there is no indication that this in fact is a special store, with unique history. I wish there was a write up in the store about Chocllate Shoppe's founding family and how it all came about. And where they are today, with customers across the country. Still, this was a memorable stop for our ice cream pilgrimage.

Food 3.5/5 Service 4/5…read moreAmbiance 3/5 Teamoji's honestly a pretty bubbly and bright place in the middle of downtown Madison. Their vibrant interior is coupled with some pretty nice drinks - I actually quite liked the osmanthus oolong. The mochi donuts were unfortunately a bit lackluster - they were served room temp (some places serve these slightly warmed), but they also lacked that characteristic chew of a good, fresh mochi donut. Overall, not a bad place for tea, but maybe there's a different snack that would strike my fancy.

A couple of young people in front of us at it down pat, but after we screwed around and tried to figure out and it took a while and someone helped us, sure enough to other couples after us were asking us for help. LOL With that being said, they Decor is super cool and super fun, super young and perfect for a college campus. Great colors, lots of white felt bright and open. The vibe inside was very friendly and fun, we were the only non-asians in there, and we are the oldest by double the age of the average customer. So while we stood out like sore thumbs, we had a great time and everyone was done talking and mixing together and seem to be having a nice hang out. It was Christmas night, and it was busy, so I can imagine what this is like during the middle of a semester. We ordered two drinks and they were absolutely delicious and fresh and really interesting flavors. We ordered one of the wacky Korean corn dog special options, a corn and potato mozzarella cheese dog on a stick. It was weird, the outside crunchiness was sweet and maybe Savory but the inside cheese had no flavor. Nonetheless, it was cool and I could see it, again, it being a fun thing for the Young crowd. The all gender neutral bathroom was clean although the hand blower didn't work. The young man preparing the drinks was super cool and friendly and helpful, and he was moving along quickly. Unfortunately, the girl on the other side of the shop, making the corn dog, took forever and a week, it took like at least 30 or 40 minutes for us to get a stupid corn dog. That was really annoying.
