Went out to this place on a recommendation that they had great wings. We had both some of the traditional and boneless wings and both were awesome, great portion size and the buffalo lemon pepper is definitely a standout flavor! Jess R took care of us this evening and when it started getting busy, she still found time to give us some amazing drink recommendations (the blood orange marg with the grand mariner floater had my partner raving about it on the drive home) and have good banter with us. She definitely is a standout waitress in the best way; personable, quick, but knows how to make you feel at home. Anchor bar has the best bar food! I very rarely crave American food so when I do this is a go to spot. We shared the sampler platter which had pizza egg rolls, mozzarella sticks, mac and cheese bites, and fried pickles. Everything on it was super good!! My boyfriend got the fried chicken breakfast sandwich and added on 5 lemon pepper buffalo wings (which I tried) and it was very good. My Philly cheesesteak and fries were also so yummy. So many more options around town. Tried the Extra Hot (zero heat) and Habanero Ranch (zero heat) gave up and asked for their hottest, which ended up medium heat at best. Maybe it was my order but the wings were bigger, more plum n juicy. The wings weren't overly fried like Pluckers, it had the right amount of fry on it and wowww spicy parmesan wing sauce was amazing. Tangy, tart, spicy, garlic everything you want in a wing flavor. The dry parmesan wing sauce, it seemed the longer the wing sat, the better the flavor got. The parmesan dry rub is better than: Pluckers Buffalo Wild Wings Wings n rings Hurricane Wing Bar down the street in Round Rock Cover 2-3-4-5-6-10 all of them Hands down the best parmesan sauce. Tots n fries were crispy and soft inside. The crispy fried pickles were good but not that great, it seems a little under cooked since inside was a little mushy and the pickle wasn't thick enough. The pretzel bites hands down sucked, I asked our amazing server to replace them, they still came out after the 2nd time, dull. The bites were hot on the outside but cold inside. We first visited Anchor Bar last year during UT softball season. It is softball season again, and we came back. The location is perfect and not far from our hotel. Navone, the bartender, is amazing and took great care of us. He is friendly and has a great personality! He made me an amazing dirty martini & my husband Titos with a splash of sprite and a lime. But, we had great service from Delaney! At first, she only had a couple tables, but got busier closer to game time. (*I know this is a restaurant too, but still surprised families brought young children here..other places to go). We settled in, told Delaney we would be ordering for awhile, since watching game. Started with appetizers of pretzel bites..ohhh soo good! But, the loaded tots, too much cheese, made them soggy. Husband got chicken ceasar salad, said was good..nice grilled chicken. I tried the boneless wings..Mango Habanero. Good flavoring, but did not like the breading. I know they are famous for their bone-in wings, but I did not want to get "messy" (*loved the hand washing station though before you hit restrooms for that reason). Table next us had family of 4 and devoured a 50 piece wing plate, so assume it was good. Then, tried their "All American burger", which read on menu is a combination of brisket and chuck.
