The White Dog on the South Hill consistently provides the worst experience of any location I've…read morevisited. Even when there is little to no line, it takes an unreasonable amount of time to receive a drink. Having 3-4 employees working at a time does not seem to make a difference in the speed of service. What's even more frustrating is the constant lack of ingredients for menu items. I regularly order the same bagel, and almost every time I'm told they don't have the ingredients to make it. This has been an ongoing issue, not a one-time occurrence. If a location is repeatedly unable to make certain menu items, those items should not be advertised as available. Customers should be able to expect reasonable wait times and that menu items can actually be ordered. Unfortunately, this location consistently falls short in both areas.

Hatch beaker + burr transcends all of these. I never expected that I would find one of the best lattes I've ever tasted in Spokane of all places after being a Portland/Seattle coffee elitist. The seasonal dulce de leche iced latte was so strong in the best way and brought me back to life with how flavorful it was. Seven dollars even and worth every penny. You can see in the attached photos that I really tried to get every drop of the drink. It was so good that I got another latte to go (cardamom), also so so good. Everything else: cute space with lots of plants and two tables (but other seating available in the commons), barista who is clearly very knowledgeable about every part of the coffee and actually likes making the drinks. Really nice service and you get updated on your drink even when it's busy which is nice, I've never had that in other cafes. I really can't reiterate how amazing this coffee was. Must try if you have not, and if you have you definitely already know.

I tried a latte with their apple caramel sauce, which was pleasant but didn't have distinct apple or caramel flavor coming through. In a region full of great coffee spots, this one didn't quite hit a 5 for me personally, but it's still a thoughtful, quality shop I'd happily return to and explore more of their menu.

Every contact I've had with Grain Shed employees has been more than pleasant; they truly seem to enjoy working there, and take good care of their customers. I need to shout out to Toby and Audrey before I go on. They each provided 110% on customer service, being personable and making sure we left happy. On 2 separate trips to Spokane, I've visited the Grain Shed 3 and 4 times over the course of 3 days (yes, if you do the math, I went twice in 1 day, and the restaurant was NOT just around the corner!) Everything I've tried is delish, but in case you have to limit yourself, I highly recommend the OG, the beets and feta toast, the bread flight with sauces and cheese, the molasses ginger cookie, and maybe a chocolate croissant. I've heard their bread pudding and pumpkin pie (holiday special) are out of this world! I tried to get over to listen to their live music before leaving town, but still need to squeeze that into my schedule. Travelers: save space in your luggage for a loaf of bread. I got a Grilled Cheese Sandwich on some of their house made bread with some Cheddar, Swiss and Provolone cheese. The exact name for this sandwich is the Cheesy Toastie. And of course moving on to the beer... the primary motivator to come here. I got the Kölsch beer here called Field Trip. I do love a good Kölsch as they are nice, light bodied beers. And they are especially nice in the summertime. Flavor features in this beer is maltiness, breadiness, a bit of hoppiness and a dry finish. Another beer that Steve and I tried was the INWPA which was a Pale Ale. It was also a nice light bodied beer which again hit the spot despite it being a different drinking session. Flavor characteristics in this beer is citrus, a yeastiness, hoppiness and a biscuity trait. Good beers and sandwiches and we are aiming for a return whenever we are in Spokane again.

One had whip and no cream (correct). One had whip and cream added (incorrect). I told the attendant that the first soda was fine, but the second was not what I ordered. Screw-up 1. Hey, we're human, it happens. She took them back and went to redo. I thought she'd just redo the wrong one. Nope! She brought me two new Italian sodas. Neither had cream. Neither had whip. Screw-up 2. On BOTH, even though I specified that the first soda was fine. At this point I'm not only irritated, but concerned over the person & dog in the rapidly-warming car. Attendant offers to remake them all over again. Why? She'll just screw them up again. I took what was in front of me (not what I paid for) and left.
