    Two thumbs up

This store is amazing. It fills the void that Lindeman's left when they closed. Fabulous food choices, (behind the glass like Lindeman's). In my opinion the coffee is the best. The space is "cool" - the kids would say "sik". When I plan to meet someone in the morning - this is my first choice. I give the Siskel & Ebert two thumbs up.

My daughter and I stopped in for breakfast and everything was wonderful! It is gorgeous inside and the staff is helpful and friendly and everything is described well on the menu. We ordered an empanada, a caramel shaker with espresso, a blueberry fog and a fruit cup. The fruit was really fresh with a lime light syrup. I could have eaten four of the breakfast empanadas, so good! I didn't love the blueberry fog but to be fair, I ordered it with oat milk so it was probably my fault LOL. There is so much natural light and comfortable seating indoors and out. It was pretty full but we still easily found a place to sit. This place is going to explode on the south hill, exactly the right coffee shop for this area in my opinion. This is May 2021 so they allowed vaccinated people to go without a mask which I appreciated very much.

    Fancy iced drinks!

This place must have just opened. I'm in town seeing friends and someone suggested we meet here. What an amazing place! A very tall one story building with lots of homey feels to it. Very nice interior with plenty of sitting space. They are definitely going for a different kind of Starbucks interior theme and I like it! Delicious iced drinks. I had some white tea and my friend had and iced latte. Very excellent all around with friendly staff.

I'm not opposed to giving the newish Thomas Hammer another chance but I'm afraid they were 0/3 when I was ordering at the counter on my first visit. Soy milk? No. Egg sandwich without meat? No. Apple Pay? No. I had an oat milk latte to stay and it was good, even though the milk foam wasn't poured all the way to the top of the cup as is customary (I used to be a barista). In other news, this "LTD. Reserve Store" was designed by HDG Architecture and the space is lovely and bright with very inviting seating. Appears to be very popular with the above-60 crowd, at least on a weekday morning.

Update 7/15: My scone was as hard as a rock. It crumbled when I finally got a piece broken off.

Experience/Service: the place is cute cute cute! The service was top-notch, friendly, and genuine. Food: wow! A bakery this truly is. I had the opportunity to try several types of scones and some sort of almond roll and it was all delicious. I especially loved the lemon-blueberry scone and I normally don't even like lemon. If I had been in town more than 2 days I would have gone more. Price: normally I don't mention this because prices are in the eye of the beholder. But compared to my native SoCal the prices here were $1-2 less per drink. A latte and a huge home-baked scone for $10? Wouldn't happen elsewhere. So bravo for keeping prices reasonable. Loved visiting Spokane and this was a key part of my experience in the South Hill.

Foolishly, I stayed. Ordered two Italian sodas and some water. Both Italian sodas with no cream, yes whip. That's all. I had the receipt. Very clearly marked. Got the Italian sodas back. One had whip and no cream (correct). One had whip and cream added (incorrect). I told the attendant that the first soda was fine, but the second was not what I ordered. Screw-up 1. Hey, we're human, it happens. She took them back and went to redo. I thought she'd just redo the wrong one. Nope! She brought me two new Italian sodas. Neither had cream. Neither had whip. Screw-up 2. On BOTH, even though I specified that the first soda was fine. At this point I'm not only irritated, but concerned over the person & dog in the rapidly-warming car. Attendant offers to remake them all over again. Why? She'll just screw them up again. I took what was in front of me (not what I paid for) and left. Several screw-ups, delays, and essentially a minor rip-off. I won't make the mistake of going here & overpaying for screw-ups again, and I suggest you do the same.

In…read morethe past two years I have tried several well recommended spokane cafes that were all great, tasty, and slightly more expensive than I would like. Hatch beaker + burr transcends all of these. I never expected that I would find one of the best lattes I've ever tasted in Spokane of all places after being a Portland/Seattle coffee elitist. The seasonal dulce de leche iced latte was so strong in the best way and brought me back to life with how flavorful it was. Seven dollars even and worth every penny. You can see in the attached photos that I really tried to get every drop of the drink. It was so good that I got another latte to go (cardamom), also so so good. Everything else: cute space with lots of plants and two tables (but other seating available in the commons), barista who is clearly very knowledgeable about every part of the coffee and actually likes making the drinks. Really nice service and you get updated on your drink even when it's busy which is nice, I've never had that in other cafes. I really can't reiterate how amazing this coffee was. Must try if you have not, and if you have you definitely already know.

I just prefer something sweeter and smooth. Rosemary Staccato: 3.5/5

(Unfortunately I literally live on the other side of the country, so before my trip to Spokane ended I made it a point to stop by Atticus multiple times.) The gift shop portion of the store stocks what feels like a little bit of everything. Books, stickers, soaps, lotions, trinkets, home decor, t-shirts, art, books, cards, chocolates...and that's just what I remember! And then the coffee shop portion has a surprisingly large menu. I'm used to coffee shops in stores being more like small coffee stands; but nope, this operation feels like a fully stocked coffee shop. Plus they also serve tea, matcha, and smoothies...and breakfast sandwiches, AND pastries. As you might imagine: this all makes the store smell quite good! There aren't a ton of seats but when I visited with family, we managed to find a couple tables so we could enjoy our drinks and snacks sitting down. Their coffee is very, very tasty - I tried both hot and iced lattes during my multiple visits. I didn't have tea on-site but I did buy some of their blends to brew at home, and they are also very, very tasty. Unfortunately they don't do online sales, and since I was traveling I didn't have the space to pack up everything I wanted to take home with me. Maybe future me will have the chance to come back...in the meantime, I hope you lucky locals appreciate this place as much as I did!

I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu before giving that fifth star.
