This is a cute coffee shop in the south hill area that I used to study at. I enjoy getting tea here since coffee can get me pretty wired. It can be a bit crowded & noisy on the weekends so headphones are useful. I usually have to park in the neighborhood but it isn't too far of a walk. It's better than having to pay for parking downtown. WiFi was spotty at times and I would have to sign back in. read more

My sister suggested hubs and I try this place. It wasn't an awesome experience and we won't be back. Can't fathom what my sister liked in this place. It started with the fact that the parking lot and drive thru are stupidly designed. Then the fact that we couldn't read the menu at the drive thru because it was completely frosted over. Then when we asked what they had for gluten free vegetarian breakfast items, it was oatmeal. That alone should be zero stars in my book. The coffee was ok. They had some fun flavor combinations. But overall? Meh at best. You can't figure out how to have at least something besides oatmeal for gluten free vegetarian?! Not coming back. But, this experience sent us to Boots downtown looking for breakfast which ended up being the BEST find so I guess thanks for sending me away hungry so I could find something MUCH MUCH better. read more

This place is a tragedy. The space is great. They have a reasonable selection of pretty good food. The coffee is somehow very consistently the worst I have had in Spokane. They seem to constantly be working with new baristas so it takes 15+ minutes to get your order (even when they are not busy). What it arrives, the coffee is made wrong about 30% of the time. This place is clearly just poorly managed. Retain your employees and train your baristas alongside experienced folks and I am sure many of the issues will improve. This store is amazing. It fills the void that Lindeman's left when they closed. Fabulous food choices, (behind the glass like Lindeman's). In my opinion the coffee is the best. My daughter and I stopped in for breakfast and everything was wonderful! It is gorgeous inside and the staff is helpful and friendly and everything is described well on the menu. We ordered an empanada, a caramel shaker with espresso, a blueberry fog and a fruit cup. The fruit was really fresh with a lime light syrup. I could have eaten four of the breakfast empanadas, so good! I didn't love the blueberry fog but to be fair, I ordered it with oat milk so it was probably my fault LOL. There is so much natural light and comfortable seating indoors and out. It was pretty full but we still easily found a place to sit. This place is going to explode on the south hill, exactly the right coffee shop for this area in my opinion. This is May 2021 so they allowed vaccinated people to go without a mask which I appreciated very much. read more

This place must have just opened. I'm in town seeing friends and someone suggested we meet here. What an amazing place! A very tall one story building with lots of homey feels to it. Very nice interior with plenty of sitting space. They are definitely going for a different kind of Starbucks interior theme and I like it! Delicious iced drinks. This location of Thomas Hammer is one of the best build outs when it comes to coffee shops in Spokane. Of course Spokane has beautiful shops to choose from and so many offer great service, but I really love the flow of this shop. The entrance is full of great and tasty food options to choose from that the staff will quickly heat for you, the coffee menu is also extensive. My wife and I love the biscuits and gravy, we think it's a great deal for $5.99. TH's seasonal drinks are very tasty and I think someone who loves craft espresso can still appreciate their take on some of their signature drinks. Not to insult the roasters or staff, but I think Thomas Hammer particularly shines in their options for drip. I will say I have had some really great espresso profiles and dialed in shots in town, but Thomas Hammer is always my go to when I want that $3 or so easy sipping cup of drip. I'm not opposed to giving the newish Thomas Hammer another chance but I'm afraid they were 0/3 when I was ordering at the counter on my first visit. Soy milk? No. Egg sandwich without meat? No. Apple Pay? No. I had an oat milk latte to stay and it was good, even though the milk foam wasn't poured all the way to the top of the cup as is customary (I used to be a barista). In other news, this "LTD. Reserve Store" was designed by HDG Architecture and the space is lovely and bright with very inviting seating. Appears to be very popular with the above-60 crowd, at least on a weekday morning. read more

Clean, modern atmosphere and highly decent coffee. Design, lighting, and atmosphere are pleasing to the eye. Service is chipper and friendly. Actual seating tends to be uncomfortable by design. Lots of hard and un-upholstered surfaces. Random massively overstuffed pillows everywhere to give the feel of hominess while ultimately serving little function. Wireless is limited to 1 hour in the mornings and 2 hours in the evenings. This is monitored by the actual network connection so there doesn't seem a good way around it unless of course you have your own hotspot, but the message is clear that camping out is frowned upon. This is understandable but doesn't exactly jibe with the "come as you are" (literally written on the wall), bohemian-chic vibe they seem to be going for. Let's say 90 minutes in the morning huh Mr. Hammer? Then overpaid remote-working office warriors can at least have 5-10 mins before and after inane workflow meetings to make requisite small talk around the difficulty of finding good maids these days, why Parker, Elsa, and Brixby aren't living up to their full potential, and how sad and outrageous it is that China can castrate thousands of ethnic Ugyhurs with factory precision yet Amazon orders of monogrammed gore-tex Corgie vests are delayed six weeks out of Zangzhou. Initially, I liked this new location. I loved the modern atmosphere, the number of power outlets scattered throughout, and the spacious feel. However, when I went to this location to study the other day, I was met by a very dismissive staff member who seemed very bothered to fill up my water bottle and spent way too much money (a little over $6) on a crappy cup of coffee. But the biggest let down, however, was the fact that they limit your wifi access to ONE HOUR. This was extremely disruptive to my studying and when I asked if there was a way to override it, they were shocked that I even asked that question. Spending $6 on a cup of bad coffee for an hour of wifi is not worth it in my opinion. I would completely understand limiting guests to a 3-hour wifi limit, but 1-hour seems too short of a time span to really get work done. I won't be returning because of these reasons and, while I really don't like leaving bad reviews, I feel that others should know about this time limit before they make plans to study or work there! read more

I came to Thomas Hammer in search for a snack, good coffee, and a place to get some work done. I had a sugar cookie (very good) and the afternoon delight latte ( very good, next time I will ask for less pumps of syrup). I was not prepared for the wifi to only work for 1 hour. After my hour of work (which requires internet access), I tried my phone's hotspot and couldn't get it to work. I then had to leave and return home to keep working. I understand the business' desire to encourage patrons to socialize, get outside, and not just be glued to devices. I am slightly disappointed because this would have been a great place for me to work from. I do think the shop is beautiful inside with great staff and delicious food and beverages. I will come back with friends to chat and snack. I will have to continue my search for a coffee place close to home where I can work from. I wish it could have been Thomas Hammer! read more

I absolutely adore this coffee shop. The building itself is beautifully designed, it offers many seating options, from studying to conversations with friends. Natural light is abundant within the space, which creates a bright cheerful atmosphere, even in the winter months. This location has proven to be a social mecca for the South Hill, it's so nice to see people connecting with one another! If you are looking for an affordable and low-key coffee shop this is NOT the place for you. This would be better if you were comfortable spending eight or more dollars on a drink, and just wanted to sit and talk to a friend without using the Internet. Yes, is a charming and comfortable addition to the southside of Spokane. One of the best things about Thomas Hammer is that they open at 5:30 AM. There seems to be a fairly steady flow of people throughout the day. When you walk in you are greeted by a couple barista's and lots of sweet and savory foods. The specific Thomas Hammer location is technically a Thomas Hammer reserve, which means if they serve specialty items that wouldn't normally be served to other locations. That also means that it's about twice as pricey as it should be. I just got a simple black coffee because I wasn't willing to pay for any of the more extravagant drinks, and it wasn't any better than other local coffee shops. It's not worth the price. I came here to get some work done, and I don't mind the background noise. The problem here was that you are only able to access the free Wi-Fi for one hour regardless of what type of device or how much Internet you were using during that one hour. Then, once that hour is up, you have about 6 hours before it lets you log in again. I stopped in to start my work and do a morning meeting, and the Wi-Fi kicked me out with 10 minutes left in my meeting. I found that the staff we're not friendly and and receptive to the needs of the guests. Overall though, it was not a terrible experience it was just not what I expected or needed. read more

The window barista didn't take down my order so when I got to the window I had to give the order again. None of the drinks had been stirred. Not just a coffee shop, this Thomas Hammer is a full on cafe. Featuring all your classic coffee, espresso and teas and also wine and beer!! They also have a great assortment of empanadas, quiches, salads, flatbreads, pasties and sweets. We have gone for brunch a couple of times now and it's so pleasant. The interior is airy and spacious and comfortable. The outside seating is also a great option if you like the fresh air. read more

Had never had Thomas Hammer coffee before and was pleasantly surprised upon visiting! My medium roast was perfectly smooth and I appreciated that the barista abided by my "light cream" request perfectly. The space is gorgeous, however it was a bit frustrating to be kicked off of the wifi after only an hour. Would have loved to stick around longer to work and enjoy the space. read more

I love this location and have had great coffee/service, but the last two times I went this week the WIFI hasn't worked - I would love to do some writing from here but it's so frustrating to not be able to connect and have no one at the location able to help. Went to Thomas Hammer and was disappointed with the service. We were in a slight rush but thought we would have plenty of time to order two coffees to go. We were wrong. After waiting about 15 minutes for our coffees after ordering, we had to leave before receiving our drinks.
