We found this lovely bakery on our way to the botanical gardens. The setting for this beautiful experience is an historic, neighborhood grocery store with high ceilings and classic woodwork and paneling. The baked good beckon to be enjoyed with a nice espresso drink in this lively setting. Enjoy...

A really good croissant, and very mediocre latte, and a bag of day-olds
Kurt G.

Walking in, so excited. A good selection of baked goods. Very helpful and friendly staff. Lots of energy. Got some day olds, though there baked goods are reasonably priced. Also got a fresh croissant. The croissant was perfect for me. Maybe but quite as crispy as some would like, but oh sooo buttery. My wife wasn't as happy with the apple muffin: didn't taste like apple. Also was pretty dense. Baking with apple sauce or butter would help. But, the real issue was the coffee. My double latte was weak, and that was only 12oz. Makes me think that they pulled the shot twice instead of making it a double. My wife said hey Americano was also mediocre. Maybe this should be a 2 star review? This is definitely a local meeting place. Maybe will have to give it another try and update the rating one way or another.

Chicken Chipotle Sandwich

Stopped by for lunch a few days ago and got the Chicken Chipotle sandwich. Probably the best premade sandwich I've had! Would definitely stop by again, the place is so cute inside and out. Staff was very friendly!

Orange Cinnamon roll & iced coffee.

Great coffee, awesome orange cinnamon roll, and friendly staff! Glad we found this special place tucked away in a residential neighborhood. Easy relaxed atmosphere.

Mocha

I went in to this beautiful shop, the line was a bit long but worth it. The staff was friendly, and the food was good. I had a hot mocha (which comes in these atheistically pleasing cups) and a orange cinnamon roll. AND MY O MY, I still have dreams about this cinnamon roll. Is was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, they even heated it up for me. Also the atmosphere of the place made me feel like I was the main character of a romantic art novel. Loved it. 9/10 would come again.

Parking availability, close to bakery?

Hi- We only have street parking, but it usually easy to find a spot within the block (and often right in front or across the street). We are on a residential street. There are sidewalks on both sides of the street. Thanks!

There is a small space to sit that is primarily within the business, but plenty of room in the shared space if you are looking for a place to extend your visit. I asked the barista some questions and noticed that he was meticulously measuring coffee grounds by weight and tamping with precision. He was very helpful and willing to discuss the possibilities to help me land on my drink of choice. He proceeded to make me the best "dirty chai" I have maybe ever had. The chai is sourced from a small business in Bend. It was a perfectly spiced blend. The espresso was smooth and flavorful. It was so delicious I went back for another the next day. This establishment serves only beverages (as far as I could tell) but they are made with care and skill. Highly recommend.

#1 coffee in Spokane FOR SURE. I mean that so seriously. In…read morethe past two years I have tried several well recommended spokane cafes that were all great, tasty, and slightly more expensive than I would like. Hatch beaker + burr transcends all of these. I never expected that I would find one of the best lattes I've ever tasted in Spokane of all places after being a Portland/Seattle coffee elitist. The seasonal dulce de leche iced latte was so strong in the best way and brought me back to life with how flavorful it was. Seven dollars even and worth every penny. You can see in the attached photos that I really tried to get every drop of the drink. It was so good that I got another latte to go (cardamom), also so so good. Everything else: cute space with lots of plants and two tables (but other seating available in the commons), barista who is clearly very knowledgeable about every part of the coffee and actually likes making the drinks. Really nice service and you get updated on your drink even when it's busy which is nice, I've never had that in other cafes. I really can't reiterate how amazing this coffee was. Must try if you have not, and if you have you definitely already know.

AMBIANCE Parking: Downtown parking is downtown parking thus requiring some patience. There is some street parking and garage parking nearby. Seating: Inside seating, plenty of cozy nooks and tables, with room for about 40-50 people. Vibes: You gotta love Spokane. A growing town but a small town feel. The spot itself feels like a love letter to books and community with that old soul essence. You walk in and your senses are welcomed from the aroma of coffee and the hustle and bustle of employees and customers moving around. One side you'll see the cafe but a good portion is a lot of shelves with books and gifts. A very stimulating space, great place to study or get work done. CAFES & RETAILS Cold Brew - Hazelnut (Recommend) They have these house brews with selective flavors. I got a staple hazelnut that provided a nice nutty earthy feel. The coffee was strong as it kept me up for a busy day. Retails (Recommend) I didn't get anything but if my luggage had room I probably totally would have. Great range of books and creative thoughtful gifts (bookmarks, candles, and trinkets). CUSTOMER SERVICE Friendly and welcoming. The staff contributes to the warm atmosphere and makes the space feel approachable. TL;DR OVERALL 4.5 Stars. Good coffee, cozy vibes, and a sense of community that makes you want to stay awhile. Atticus isn't just a coffee shop but a neighborly space that brings the locals and visitors together. If you're in Spokane and need a place to relax, come through! I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu before giving that fifth star.

Indaba didn't just check the boxes, it made me wonder why every coffee shop doesn't operate this way. Walk in and the space stops you. Exposed brick, warm wood, art on every wall, and a ceiling that opens up the whole room. The seating runs from cozy couches to high tops to proper tables. no bad seat in the house. Outlets everywhere. A conference room available to rent. Whoever designed this place actually thought about the people using it. The staff made us feel welcome without trying too hard. That's a skill. We ordered hot and iced mochas and both were dialed in. My wife went bacon avocado toast, creamy avocado against crispy bacon, exactly right. I had the sunbutter banana toast and almost ordered a second one. We grabbed an apple fritter to go. It didn't survive the drive. The background music hits just right, easy listening layered under the natural buzz of a full, happy room. Prices are exactly what you'd expect to pay for coffee done well. Before you leave, browse the retail wall. Solid selection of beans to take home, plus some genuinely cute goods worth picking up. This place has real soul. You'll feel it.
