When in Manito Park and you are hungry, this is a convenient spot for an outdoor sandwich and a drink. The menu is rather sparse, probably due to Covid19 so there are only three sandwich choices (one of which is a hotdog) and two salads. When we arrived sometime before noon, they were just serving their last turkey avocado bacon sandwich. Fortunately I was able to share it with my wife. It was very good. There are a surprising number of tables available as many are hidden around the side of the ordering and pick-up station. At this time, they are only accepting credit cards, no cash. Prices are acceptable (less than $10 per sandwich or salad) and parking is relatively easy although you may have to park up the street. They also have ice cream! read more

Food is excellent. We had the park bench panini so good! They have Ben and Jerry's ice cream too! The Staff was friendly and nice. It's a popular place to sit amongst the gorgeous greens of manito park. Beautiful large shade trees and close to the Duncan gardens. read more

Who knew this cafe (with lots of outside tables) was tucked in here? I had the TAB (turkey, avocado, bacon) sandwich which was on toasted bread. This sandwich had great flavor. Didn't really notice the bacon but the avocado and turkey flavors were great! This cafe currently has a very. very limited menu. Don't know if this is the normal menu or a limited COVID menu... basically three sandwiches: TAB, a hot dog, or chicken on focaccia bread (not of fan of that much bread). I love this little seasonal spot. In fact, I wish it was year round because how sweet would it be to get a cup of cider as you walked around Manito park in the fall, or sit a spell and eat a grilled cheese and tomato soup? What about a nice cup of coffee on a spring morning? Or meeting friends here after a run for a sandwich and Gatorade? Come on, it'd be pretty darn sweet. This season is already over, the last day open was yesterday- Labor Day 2019. It opened after Memorial Day. It's a fast season, so you need to come when this place is open. Serving sandwiches and some pretty yummy lemonade along with some other simple menu options this place is on par with a basic cafe. There are several tables to sit and enjoy your order. I am surprised by the amount of bacon on the menu. Seriously, almost every sandwich they make has bacon on it. Not the greatest food, but an excellent location pushes it to the apex of "this will do" mountain. BLT featured thick sliced, billowy white bread, exactly two smallish tomato slices, lettuce, a thin smear of Mayo, and microwave bacon. Microwave! This stuff is awful. I would take pre-prepped grilled bacon over this stuff any day of the week. It was thin, dry, and chewy as an old bone. I wouldn't fuss but the bacon makes the BLT people! The stuff you're slinging denigrates the name. Speed of service is faster than molasses but slower than a dedicated tortoise. I call it surly (if sometimes well-meaning) teenager speed. This cafe is located within the Manito Park in Spokane. They serve ice cream from Ben & Jerry. We were walking around the park and it was a hot day. We decided to stop by to get some drinks. We ordered White Chocolate Americano and Watermelon Italian soda. The Italian soda is mix of watermelon syrup and carbonated/sparkling water. It tasted just like drink version of watermelon jolly rancher. The white chocolate americano has very light hint of the white chocolate syrup. It was bitter from the espresso shots but not as bad after the ice melted and diluted the drink. read more

We ordered a regular black coffee over ice, a regular latte, & 2 hotdogs. We got one iced coffee, one iced latte, & 2 cold hotdogs. They fixed the latte & got us a hot latte, and said they would fix the hotdogs. They came back with another two cold hot dogs. I gave up the hope of getting a properly cooked hot dog from the Park Bench Cafe. I asked for a refund for the hot dogs. They gave us a refund for the two hot dogs. If an establishment can't deliver a properly prepared hotdog then I wouldn't eat any other foods prepared there because I can't be confident their food safety practices are up to speed. The iced coffee & latte were fine & the surroundings are wonderful. My recommendation is to order a coffee, enjoy the view, & skip the food. read more

The location is obviously excellent. I wish the food was up to par. I had the gobler sandwich. Slimy turkey and tomatoes. Bread was good. They were out of chips, so instead gave me a cup of veggies. The veggies were dried out and brown. My son got a pb&j. The slices of bread were totally different sizes, so it was a total mess to eat. Overall not impressed. read more

How could the ambiance of Manito Park allow anything less than 3 stars? A wonderful place for lunch, and more most - ice cream or coffee. They serve Dryers icecream - and give 4 flavors to choose from - hope you like huckleberry, cookies & cream, chocolate or vanilla - for a beautiful park cafe - I would hope for more. The sandwhiches and wraps are good - looks like they expanded their menu this summer - which is great, always plenty of seating too. I was surprised today with such a simple order of ice cream cones that the person kept getting the order wrong - am guessing she was ready for a break - it was busy and she seemed distracted. Hmmmm... what would make this a 4 or even a 5? More choices. If a 5 much better choices - could you imagine an amazing dinner in the park? It's a tradition that we go to the Park Bench several times every summer. The ambiance is truly sublime. Shady picnic tables with a 1930's stone building where sweet college kids take your order. Nice doggie bowls of water. The menu, sandwiches, wraps, etc., offers an ambitious selection of fillings. Sincerely and carefully prepared, and consistent in quality, all is of a pleasant B or B+ level, made A+ by the quiet setting of one of the top ten parks in the U.S. We would never miss the Park Bench experience every summer. Order the OBLT sandwich on whole wheat. (Olive oil mayo BLT). It's all I've ordered for the past seven years or so. read more

Nothing quite says summer like a picnic in the park. And Manito Park ,nestled on Spokane's South Hill might just be the perfect place for that. The Park Bench is a small cafe sells deli sandwiches, gourmet salads, and ice cream bars. For little ones - the "puppy in a sack " is a big hit. It includes a hot dog, chips, and a lollipop. Benches are available, but I recommend spreading a blanket under the trees. We keep a picnic blanket, Frisbee and football in the car for the spontaneous picnic catered by The Park Bench. read more

Pleasant enough place but the staff do not appear to know the basics of food service. Asking for something like "large ice tea" is apparently a difficult thing to prepare. Bear in mind, thIs is a place that specializes in Coffee and Tea Drinks. Yet, Iced tea here comes from a fountain tap.. made with "syrup". Come now....No coffee drinker would appreciate their coffee drink made from a premade coffee "Syrup". IF this place had any pride at all, it would BREW its own ice tea. Great little place in Manito Park. The atmosphere and park setting are definitely what you pay for here, as the sandwiches aren't exactly anything special. I can't help but feel this just isn't somewhere you go strictly for the food. I mean- ithey have decent, sandwiches and their morning pastries are pretty run of the mill ... but nothing beats an ice cream at the park bench on a hot day. If anything, you are paying for the experience- not to mention the location is AMAZING. Smack in the middle of a beautiful park with plenty of tables to sit in the shade.
