Analog is hands-down one of, if not, the best coffee shops in Seattle (note: Seattle has some of the world's best coffee, so this says a lot!). I love that Analog is kinda tucked away in Capitol Hill's residential area and is a hidden gem. Analog's latte is a prized treat only a few blocks away from my apartment, so how can I NOT pop in a few times a month? I will say, I don't believe in paying for someone to make me a cup of coffee when I could just make it myself at home for cheaper, but Analog is definitely worth the $3.80 once in a while. Almost every time I've gone into Analog, it's the same barista who very friendly greets me and takes the time to chat. I believe he works Thursday through Monday. Something I praise Analog for is the fact that if you get your coffee to stay, it is served in an actual mug instead of a paper cup that implies "Hurry up and go!" The latte is almost perfect. It is not too milky and the coffee flavour is not completely overtaken by milk like some other coffee shops' latte. However, I do wish the latte would be a bit more coffee-ey, but that's just my preference for strong coffee. I have gone to Analog with my laptop a few times to get some work done, and the ambiance is great for it. The atmosphere is mellow and very calm. More than likely, there will be at least 2 other people working on their laptops any time that you go in to Analog. I've sat at Analog for over 3 hours at a time (once until I was the last person before closing) and have never been disturbed while working. If you're not listening to your own music, enjoy the barista's choice of music! Usually there is a vinyl playing. The simple white, wood, and steel decor of Analog is clean and welcoming. Oh, and they have gift certificates, which when received by anyone will be cherished! Many people head over to Capitol Hill for the famed Vivace, but next time you're in the area, try Analog; it's just a few blocks away and the coffee beats Vivace's! read more

A great spot off of the main strips in Cap Hill. Quite and beautiful on a sunny day with subtle and endearing decor. I had an iced latte and it was perfect. The barista was friendly and seemed to enjoy her work. Lots of seating and a good place to sit with a friend or read a book. read more

The tip options for a drip coffee were 1$, 2$, and $3. The guy in front of me was asked here or to go. The fact that this place had just 4.5 stars and not 5 is an injustice! It's so delicious! And the baristos (? I'd never seen an o spelling before, until I read other reviews. Makes sense. They are male.) are so friendly and awesome! One thing I've struggled with on Capitol Hill is the surplus of coffee snobs, but this place, while obviously having delicious coffee and a sweet record player, doesn't even have a trace of snobbery. One of the best coffees I've had while in Seattle. The coffee shop itself looked nice, with a slightly retro vibe going on, and fits well in the more residential/off-beat street it is located in. It struck me as a great place to read a book on a rainy day (they actually had quite a few comic books to pick from on one of the lower tables). Because it is a bit out of the way, it seems less busy than some other spots - which means you should get your coffee faster *and* you might (gasp) find a seat. The coffee itself was great. Seeing as those are the only beans they had for sale, I assume they used Herkimer's. I had a cappuccino. It had a strong, hearty roasted aroma. The foam was almost never-ending. Once again, it seemed to me like it'd be perfect to warm up on a cold, rainy day. (It was just as good with the sun out). A top-notch coffee spot overall. read more

Analog coffee is my favorite place to get coffee in Seattle. The staff is super friendly and they seem to know a lot of costumers by name which is cool. The decor on the inside is really nice... Rustic, with a touch of industrial. They have a huge table with comic books and magazines on it. The most important part of course is that their coffee is really good. I would recommend the latte with a little simple syrup in it. They do have some muffins and pastries but their coffee game is on point. read more

We stumbled on this place walking to Starbucks. AHA! So we popped in and the prices were good, their press coffee is really good and it seemed like a neighborhood staple. The scone I got was gluten-free (didn't know it) and really good. I went in for a refill, it was $1. They have all the trendy sweeteners and they don't take themselves too seriously. I liked it and they had good outdoor seating options and we got to meet a lot of local dogs bringing their owners for coffee. Recommend to any out-of-towners wanting to get outside their Starbucks zone. read more

Gah. I brought an out-of-town friend here to experience Seattle coffee culture. With our coffee, we received a huge side dish of pretentious. My latte was nice, but it is hard to screw up Herkimer beans. My friend had French Press. The first cup came out flaccid and weak (yes, I know FP isn't supposed to be super rich and strong). I returned the cup; in exchange I was offered a diatribe about how the coffee wasn't brewed incorrectly and they are demigods of caffeine. But, they remade and the second cup was better. Huh. I moved to Cap Hill, 1 block from Analog Coffee, in November 2013. On a day at my new work from home job I was very very tired and decided to explore the local coffee shop. I stepped in and asked for a pick-me-up. The barista appeared to be confused at first and then leered at me! After trying to explain what I thought was an obvious reference.. something with a jolt, he still appeared to be completely unaware of what I was asking for and handed me a cup of drip. It tasted burnt. Today, I woke up late and took my dog for a walk. I wanted coffee. So I picked up my dog off the ground and carried her in to get a coffee. Turns out this place has a no dog policy- I can appreciate that. But only one block away my dog is welcome, and the $2.50 coffee doesn't taste burnt, as it did today again. Not much has changed in a little over a year per my experience today. The staff are kinda smuggy. :( I don't even write Yelp reviews, see for yourself. Have tried four various spots over the past two days and this was my favorite. Four pourover options - had one from Honduras and an Americano and both excellent. Great option for a cup of coffee in this neighborhood. They serve and sell Herkimer coffee (from Ballard) and it's delicious. The atmosphere is pretty laid back; they don't yell "Good morning!" at you when you walk in like some places. They will greet you like a normal person and get your drink going. There's usually customers sitting around reading the paper and enjoying their coffee. My girlfriend lives just a couple blocks away so I stop in here most mornings if I've stayed over. read more

I think I might be a coffee snob. I say this because I've been comparing every cup to what I had at Analog. Friendly staff, a basic menu with coffee done right, and a display case full of delicious accompaniments.
