Amy's . . . What happened??? I personally haven't ordered anything from Amy's in several years. However, my Mom is still a big fan of their Tea Cakes and Pecan Nut Rings. So when Mom says that she doesn't want a big cake, but cupcakes instead, you order what Mom wants. I tried Amy's Online Ordering, but that was so restrictive and ridiculous that I had to call in an order. That went even worse than expected. The woman who answered my call was rude, pushy, & uninformed. Every question that I asked resulted in "Hold on a sec!", where I was placed on hold for much longer than a "sec". I was told carrot cake cupcakes were a special order and I couldn't order less than 1 dozen. I was told that cream cheese frosting was a special order. I was told that they don't do decorations on cupcakes but would put plastic sugar skull rings on them because I asked for a 'Dia de los Meurtos' theme. A deposit or payment in full was demanded up front for 1 dozen carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. Did I mention that the cupcakes are $4.00 each? $4.00 each for nothing special standard size cupcakes. $4.00 each for dry almost tasteless cupcakes where the only richness came from the plop of frosting sitting precariously on top. Am I disappointed? Yes, extremely. Will be making any future purchases from Amy's? None whatsoever. If I need to order cupcakes where will I be ordering them from? Sprinkles or Brioche. Are they more expensive there? Yes, but they are moist, flavourful, and not chintzy with the frosting. * I don't know what has happened to Amy's, but it seems they are content to coast along on a reputation built from years of excellent service and delicious offerings while doing nothing to maintain that reputation. I hate doing updates like this but unfortunately I dont even know what to say. Flabbergasted is a literal understatement. FOR STARTERS. I placed an online order on Sept 5th, and I had to call and follow up on Sept 16 (yes they did not call within 4 business days.) whatever I overlooked that - and placed my order provided photos and was VERY detailed - even stated that I wanted the cake on a bigger white board (which I was charged for) because I wanted it to say "Happy Birthday Rosa". I was made aware that because I changed the frosting the florets would not match what I asked for - cool I understand. we went over the order once more and even stated this cake would be for a 50th birthday black tie event. I paid in full over the phone. damn near $180. Mind you I've never been disappointed by them before as I order ALL my cakes from here. Sadly that will no longer be the case; idk if whatever decorator did my cake hates the company they work for because they gave subpar work or they just don't like their job. obviously I was more upset they did nothing to fix the situation just offered to write happy birthday on top. We always get our birthday cakes from Amy's since 2016. The last couple years the cakes have been DRY. This year's carrot cake was beautifully decorated but unfortunately the inside was not fresh or moist at all. Tasted like it had been in the case for several days. For $42 dollars for an 8" cake we expected it to be fresh. Ever since Covid their quality has been downhill and they run out of everything (pastries and bread) by noon and they're open till 7. We will be looking for a new bakery for our next birthdays. read more

The cake was shifted off the carton baseboard, and the 2022 on top had the 2 smeared as you can see under it had a zero and they smeared off and wrote over it. This place made the cake of my dreams. I don't know how they were able to read my mind, especially because the person who took my order had never seen Dazed and Confused. The bakers and service team are all professionals and know what they're doing. If you don't live nearby, I still highly recommend taking your business to Amy's. This cake was for 20-25 people and cost $120 (white cake, strawberries, buttercream frosting) which I thought was extremely reasonable considering how detailed it was. We happened to be in the area and craving a snack. We stopped by Amy's and due to the pandemic, waited outside for a few minutes. I appreciated a lot that they limited the amount of people inside the bakery to ensure social distance is being followed and we all feel safe. Once inside, there was no sense of rush to get you to select your pastries. Thank you for doing that and making me feel comfortable to take my time and ask questions. Huge kudos for that. I was a little embarrassed at first asking questions about what each thing was but the staff was awesome and answered all my questions as well as gave me recommendations. We went home with a chocolate cupcake that was decorated like a little turkey (my visit was in November so it went with the theme of Thanksgiving) and a fruit tart. Have been getting cakes/ pastries here for years. We celebrated my daughter's birthday on Thursday. Her aunt ordered her cake from Amy's. Their cakes used to be delicious and their attention to detail was amazing. Sadly that was not our experience with this last cake. My daughter loves Spider-Man and that was the theme for her cake. Instead of using red and blue for the icing as requested they used pink and baby blue. Looked more like a gender reveal cake than what was ordered. Aside from those issues the flavor was off. We ordered fresh strawberries for the filling and it tasted like the strawberries were already turning. They also made mistakes on a cake order we had in September for another birthday. Not sure if they are under new management or what is happening but the standards and quality that we loved about Amy's is lacking the last few months. Hopefully they will get it together soon. Most delicious pastries! My grandparents were going here over 40 years ago, so I grew up with Amy's. While a lot has changed, a lot has stayed the same. The pink boxes are now white, you still pull a number when you walk in, and the pastries are just as delicious! They no longer sell egg bread (sadly,it was the best!) The chocolate chip rolls and cigars are just as delicious as before, the apple turnovers are huge! The sampler tower is perfect size and has a variety or treats. Go early for the best selection. They told me you can call ahead and they will reserve and pack anything you want if the made that day, or they can make if you call a few days ahead of time. I stop here whenever I am in the area. Used to visit Amy's regularly but the quality of their desserts has really gone downhill. I ordered a cheesecake for someone's birthday and I would NEVER do it again. Their cakes are drenched in processed corn syrup, the cheesecake is so sweet it's disgusting, and their customer service SUCKS. I called to see if I could get a refund since we took a small slice of the cake and immediately knew it wasn't any good, and I was told by the store manager "we don't accept refunds once the cake leaves the store." DON"T order the Chocolate dobash cake. They just changed it! It was so good before. It was the way most bakers bake it. It had an almost pudding like mild chocolate frosting in between layers of cake and helped keep the cake moist. Now they've switched to a thick, dark, uber sweet chocolate that it toooooo sweet. It's not what a dobash is about. Having 6-7 layers of this deep too sweet chocolate really takes away from the cake. Don't order it! Go elsewhere for your dobash fix. I used to drive from San Gabriel. I guess I'll be driving elsewhere. That being said my husband loved their bear claw.
