I decided to try Amore because I was craving pizza and it was close by work. I heard that they had a solid regular cheese and pepperoni pizza, but I wanted to get some veggies in for the day, so I decided to order a house special pie ($30). This included cheese, pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, onions, and peppers. I like how they make use of the whole pie by not having the outer crust too thick. However, due to the house special having so many toppings, and the crust being thin, it made the pizza taste a little too soggy and more difficult to hold. Had some extra time, so we took a drive to Amore from LI. We sat at a table in the rear with waitress service. We started with the baked clams. They had a wonderful garlic aroma, they were very average and lacking in taste. We then had a well done pie with 2 everything slices. The sauce was slightly sweet and the pizza had a nice thin crust. The pie was not well done, as requested, or even that cheesy. It was one of the better pizzas I have had but again not the best. The service was non-existent. I had to get menus for our table. Our clams were brought out without plates and utensils. The waitress then gave me 2 plates, but we needed 3. My other issue is the cleanliness. The place is dated, but that adds to its history. However, the table was covered in crumbs, there was dried sauce caked on the bread basket, and the water pitcher had grime all over it. I would return if I was local, perhaps. read more

Stopped here for a quick slice on the way to my brother's house. Kind of shocked barstool only gave them an 8.1 because im giving them a 9.5. This place is cash only and you may encounter a line, but the pizza is so worth it. Super thin slice with the right amount of cheese and sauce. Their sauce was the best part- not too sweet. There is a perfect balance in the trinity of dough, cheese, and sauce. Always straight out of the oven and piping hot. Perfectly salty slice with excellent crisp. Holds together really well. It is the type of slice where you all of a sudden realize you ate 3 of them. You really won't get better pizza unless you go out of your way to some of the established greats in NYC. Review update ! The pizza is good for that extra thin crust and sweet sauce but - for outstanding baked clams I had to add 2 extra stars. Who would've guessed that's also what they are known for as my friendly lady helper at the counter told me ? A pizza place with better than sit down restaurant baked clams ? No way ! Mom and I ordered some slices while the clams were cooking. No need bc they brought over oven heated Italian bread and butter. You'd want to hold onto that The clams were delivered to our table. 12 of them ,for 24 as of 2024, on a plate of a scampi like sauce of oil, white wine, parsley and garlic with some lemon slices. The clams were perfection. Nicely sized little necks with whole , not chopped , clam still attached to its shell with a beautiful slightly charred crust of breadcrumbs and whatever use they use for spices. No fishy smell and they knew to not to overcook them makes them. Absolutely delicious. I will say these are the best baked clams I've had. Period. Remember this is cash only and the ambience is typical 80s to 90s pizzeria but I'd have to say it can work for a low key date spot ! Guess what? I moved 40 minutes away from Flushing but came back to reconnect with friends and go to Amore's! They open at noon -- not 10 minutes earlier or later and expect a small line waiting outside. I got here at 11:20 AM and waited 40 minutes for them to open. Great customer service which is unexpected from an old school, well-known pizza spot so that hasn't changed. I insist!! Your first slice needs to be plain. idk what it is but when you start adding toppings, it's not as delicious We got a large pie and ask for it as well done for a crispy thin hot and delicious slice. Make sure to also eat it fast because when it's cold out these puppies will cool down fast. Definitely a must-go pizza spot in Flushing with free parking. read more

This is a top 10 slice in the city, but man I gotta deduct a point for the recent skimping on the sauce and cheese. This slice has always lacked consistency like when sometimes they don't spread the sauce and cheese enough and you get a really wide crust, which I'm willing to overlook, but if it's now shrinkflation that has changed the slice, that's a little annoying. A lot annoying actually, since the slice was paper thin (which is a positive) to begin with. Or is it new staff making the pizza? Whatever it is, it needs to be fixed pronto, before one of the iconic slices in the city goes downhill. Very unassuming place in a bustling shopping center. Parking is plentiful but hectic as you have to avoid being run down by busy drivers. The pizzeria is cash only so be aware of this. We ordered a pie to stay and the waitress was delightful but I found very un delightful was the dollar extra charge to eat the pie to stay. By saving on a box they penalized us. My husband has been coming here for his whole life and it is still his favorite pizza and now it is my favorite as well. In my opinion, this is the perfect slice of pizza. It is thin, and has the perfect proportion of sauce and cheese. The crust has such a good quality, and is so fresh. The slice itself has such a nice tang that I have not found in other slices. It also has this quality that is rare when the sauce and cheese are cohesive, like one entity; almost soup like swimming on top of the crispy crust. The sauce is very rich, and has a sweetness, but not an artificial, sugary sweetness, as some other places have where it overpowers the slice. When you sit inside and have a waitress, the service is great and fast. In general, the place always has a line, but they move very quickly, and you always have a fresh slice due to the high volume of people. The ambiance is no frills but cozy. We have ordered hot food as well and their catering services are fantastic! As a native New Yorker, I am always on the hunt for good pizza and this is still the gold standard. read more
