Since then I had not been in NYC, but I am now visiting. Just last night, on a rainy sunday evening, I walked in and ordered a sicillian, pepperoni, and a macaroni slice. All three had been sitting at the shop for an hour or more. But they were still delicious. The crust on the siciilian reminded me of detroit style square pies. Crisp and doughy, yet crunchy on the outside without taxing your teeth. Both of the slices were great too. Lets compare to a famous nyc landmarlks, being Lombardi's and Prince's, both in soho. This place has better pizza than both famous lamdmarks. Now if you want sweetened tomato sauce, goto Prince. If you want a classic 12 in pie with home made sauce, go to Lombardi's. Liked their regular pizza slices but they have the worst Sicilian slice ever. It's so dry with close to no sauce that it's no difference from a slice of plain foccacia bread. This place opened approximately 5 months ago and already has 'regular customers'. Most of this regular customers are not take out eaters, they seat there to enjoy what Genesis has to offer . Prices are reasonable on the menu but 20 minutes wait seems to long when they don't really have a big clientele . Going for pizza, chinese food or McDonald's (yuck) means that you want something eatable fast, aprox 10-15 mnts top! when you are ordering and picking up your food from the establishment. The pizza could have been decent, but the delivery man carried it side ways and not only was the food greasy and disfigured when it got here, we also had to reassemble the toppings that slid off. The spinach tasted like it was briefly sauteed in oil and garlic prior to adding it to the pie and the mushrooms were fresh, not from a jar. That isn't necessarily a bad thing if you're near by and looking for a reliable slice. I do appreciate their presence in the community since there was a lack of quality pizza within walking distance. I found some of their specialty slices on the lighter side for lunch so order a regular slice too. They have hero or pasta lunch specials and offer a free drink with any two slices.
